So what are some good ways of making bells? I've relied on the non-native fruit forests that got me through Wild World. Are there any new systems? I've heard something about beetles too, but all mine are quite cheap!

I've spent most every day fishing. In your town, spend an hour or so and release anything that doesn't get you min. 1000 Bells at Re-tail.

Once you've got access to the island, spend time there, fill up the transfer basket, with sharks and huge fish. Get to know which fish will bring in 10,000 each. Go there after 5pm for best chance of getting the big catches.

I've been doing this most days and have gained myself about 200,000 per day. I've banked it and managed to pay off all the debts to Nook, currently have the 498,000 mortgage going.

With some patience you can rack up loads of Bells with a little bit of effort.

Thanks for this. I was wondering the same myself.

Go to the island at night, collect bugs instead of fish - it's easier, you just creep around as opposed to doing the twitch fishing thing not knowing what fish you're gonna get. Collect any beetle that's not a dynastid or a miyama. Fill up the whole basket, and you'll get 400-500 bells each trip

I'm sure there are some more simplistic ways to achieve this but it's worked out so far for me. I hit 1m Bells the other day and have been pretending that's my zero. Therefore, if I want to expand my house I need to go and earn it instead of squander the money.

I've been playing a lot less the last two or so days though. So it's a longer process now. I'd been averaging 3 hours in a sitting. Oops!!

Hey guys, I'm trying to put together a regal theme. I need the following furniture:

Regal Wall
Regal Dresser
Regal Sofa
Regal Table (x2)
Regal Clock
Regal Vanity
Regal Wall Lamp (x2)

Can any of you help me out?

My gate is currently open as of 8:50am Arizona time. I can leave it open for about 90 minutes. If you have spares, just come to my town and leave them on the ground near the train station. Help yourself to my fruits. I think I have them all now.

Oh, I could also use balloon floor and walls.

Thanks!!
Will check it out. It is a bummer that I only have time to play late at night (at least during the week), so I haven't even been able to purchase a house. I'm thinking about changing my 3DS' clock...

Once your approval rating reaches 100% you can build public works projects and enact town ordinances. One of these ordinances is called the "Night Owl" ordinance. It extends the closing time of all the stores in your town and on Main Street. I play mostly late at night, too, and this ordinance has extended the closing times long enough for me to not need to change my clock. The ordinances cost 20,000 bells each to enact and you can cancel them at any time.

I've done the same thing. I don't want to spend any of the money I've put in the ABD and still go to the island every night to pay off my remaining house debt. I've made 3.4 million in the stalk market that I told myself I'd spend on housing upgrades, but I can't bring myself to use it.

I set up the 'Night Owl' ordinance and it should be done tomorrow. I actually was not sure what it did as I thought it meant that the stores would open at night and not the day but I see what it does now. I also want to know how Re-Tail stocks new items, mine has been out of anything for a while and the guy is still sleeping!

Also, does Nooks ever expand like it did in the previous DS version? I currently go to the island, pick a tour and then just collect fruit and insects, fail the tour and go back and get the money. Seems to work fine for me at the moment.

It takes a while for Cyrus to wake up, so be patient. The Night Owl ordinance, as you found out, only makes places stay open later. They still open at their normal times. On the flip side, the Early Bird ordinance makes shops open early but still close at their normal times.

The Nookling's store does expand a total of 4 times. In order to get the store to upgrade, you must wait a certain period of time and spend a certain amount of bells. You can find the exact numbers online if you search for it, I can't recall off the top of my head. And also, on the third upgrade, the Nookling's store will merge with Leif's garden shop.

Also, selling fruit from the island is a HORRIBLE way to make money. Go to the island after 5pm and catch all of the beetles you see on the palm trees. ONLY beetles on palm trees; the bugs on the other trees are worthless, with the exception of the Rainbow Stag which sells for 10,000 bells. Fill up your box with as many as you can. If you fill the entire box up, you'll get at LEAST 320,000 bells PER trip. Much better than selling fruit, especially since the island fruit doesn't sell for as much as foreign fruit does.

Gosh y'all are making me jones for a 3DS so badly just so I can play Animal Crossing. Hopefully I can pick one up soon and join the conversation!

It is so worth it - 3DS has quite a few amazing titles with more coming very soon - Animal Crossing I thought would be not for me - I was a tad wrong now 80 hours into it :)

Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I used to always play Animal Crossing: Wild World on my DS but then I suddenly stopped. I wonder if this is even better? I'd like to hear from someone who has played both as I have a 3DS and would buy the game if it's worth it. But if there's no vast difference between Wild World and New Leaf then I'm not sure I'd get it.

Oh wow - yea that would be an issue - maybe in a year or so - you'll have even better games to pick from then too :)

There is a HUGE difference between Wild World and New Leaf. So many that I don't even have the time to type them all out. It's so much better than Wild World. Buy the game, it's DEFINITELY worth it!

I dunno! The changes are welcomed (more shops, more activities, great online, control over your town) but it doesn't stray too far from the formula. Daily activities are the more or less the same. I really wish you could just leave your gates open and still have everything operate as it should (can't make donations, really?!), more variety in landscapes with multiple layers, more places to explore. It feels really fenced in and there isn't much point to swimming.

I'm 50 hours in and it's starting to wear a little thin.

Go for it! I got my 3DS after trading in my PSP. It came with four games but I have not playing Ridge Racer 3D and Animal Crossing. My two other game have not even had a look in (Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario Land 3D).

I am longing to get PES 2013 3D, Tekken 3D, and New Super Mario Bros at some point. The upcoming Zelda looks good too.

I also got bored of the DS version and stopped. I think the fact that New Leaf puts you in charge makes you care more (it does for me at least) so you play it more and take ownership of your town more. I also like the 3D effect and find that it works very well.

You just have to try this, more often than not you will be sucked in to it in no time and then you spend hours on it!

My town has been neglected a lot as I have other games I am playing at the moment. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoners is a great game and taking up lots of my time.
