Generally, I like to give constructive feedback on posts, but this post is simply my opinion: The only place I've seen or heard of this has been on MacRumors...so I'm assuming by "takes over social media," it's actually meaning amongst the under 10 and over 60 age groups. Those are the only groups I can fathom find this entertaining...especially when there have been a dozen apps that have done nearly the same thing for years now. Possibly the dumbest thing I've seen today.

Good choice.

What have we become? $1145 to play with animated emoji. :(

Riight?!

I know people like to make fun of this new "feature" but it's actually quite cool.

The internet came up with a better way to use Animoji vs Apple did in their presentation I find that shocking.

Up next full body Animoji for a complete song and dance-off
[doublepost=1509942069][/doublepost]I’m curious ... if your iPhone X is on a stand, and you’re in Animoji mode, will turning your head 360 degrees show the back of the Animojis head in sync?

"Apple is certainly benefitting from a wave of free viral marketing. " Sure. All those people had the same idea, totally unrelated and unpaid.

It's fun, but honestly I think they are a bit expressionless. Would be fun with some more exaggerated ones in the future.

It's a gimmick, but the videos put me in a good mood. Nothing wrong with a little fun.

What else would it be besides a gimmick? What’s even a gimmick? It’s just a fun little feature. People take apple too seriously man. Sometimes a feature isn’t some revolutionary life changing thing. It’s just fun

Not sure whether you're not getting or deliberately avoiding the fact that this tech has been in people's hands for mere days and already it's resulted in new social media phenomena.
And this is before developers do anything with it.
There is a bigger picture.
Zoom out and see it.

The thing with this also is that it requires a bit of talent, creativity and clever editing to do a good one, or one that stands out.

I saw it on Twitter before it was posted here.

Sorry you can’t appreciate that others are having a little fun.

Some of you naysayers, I swear to Gurnenthar...
You whine that Apple doesn't innovate any more, then when they come out with what is essentially portable real-time mo-cap, and people start having fun with it, then you whine about the new capabilities.
It's like you don't even want to be happy and absolutely nothing will make you.

Says a person making passive aggressive comments over the internet to strangers. Because someone was enthusiastic about something entertaining, nonetheless. I won’t comment on what you deserve.
Not everything in my life needs to be supremely purposeful and with reason. Some things aren’t that serious.
Hence the Trump character. It needs to be emoji-fied

Yeah - because no-one between the ages of 10 and 60 can like anything fun. Ever. Without being fun shamed on internet forums.

That you can't even fathom people having a different opinion to you says far more about you than it says about anyone else.

I bet Carpool Karaoke was the dumbest thing you saw yesterday.

:p

No, as soon as you turn your eyes too far away it loses tracking.

You’re totally right. It’s terrible people are having fun with their expensive devices. They should be doing totally serious stuff like posting arguments on mac rumors about apple not caring about the Mac

Agreed. Apple no longer dedicates proper resources to the Mac. :apple:

It's not the first time - remember Steve Jobs playing around with Photo Booth on $3000 MacBook Pros?

Yes I do. However Photo Booth was simply an app on the machine. The machine was not created for the app as in Face ID/Animojis. :apple:

Its a bit of a stretch to suggest that the iPhone X was created for animojis.

Sigh, so these animoji's are what Apple has been wasting development time on ...

... and they are fantastic.

Apple design has nailed it here. From the stiff robotic face, to the ear flopping dog and waving chicken wattle, there's so much expression there.

Yes totally gimmicky, but these karaoke jams are so much fun.

The Animoji are much to childish - they look awful. There should be Einstein, Chaplin, Lincon, King George etc. or other well known persons but not that ugly as many of these are.

I agree Apple one of the most creative companies in the 1970s and now the bloated bosses get excited about emojis. Oh my days. What's gone wrong with society?

Until you start realizing that it's following your face in real-time, and animating a character on screen — on a hand-held device.

It truly is amazing technology and Apple should be very proud of what they have achieved.

This is just the beginning.

Seriously? If you're going to try an intelligent comment, at least spell correctly... it's "too" childish, not "to".

They do not look awful to me. They are adorable, 3D faces. I'm blown away by them! And the fact that Apple added the ability to export them as videos is pure genius!
