That advise can lead our economy into a recession or depression, depending on how many people pull back from buying. I do not think some of you really grasp the danger our economy is in now.

The 90 day delinquency rate on credit card is 12% and 2% on all credit debts.

109.7 billions worth of product were brought through Buy Now Pay Later scheme. More people turn to BNPL model for everyday essentials goods.

People simply do have money now.

Well inflation is on the decline. Factually. So I’d say we’re on the right path. Americans can survive by either abstaining from or spending a little more on anker products while posturing against China who has been ripping us off since forever.
Egg prices? Cheaper. Gas cheaper. Interest rates, heading down. Companies have invested hundreds and hundreds of billions in our future, more in two months than bidens entire term. The stock market will rebound. It always does. It’s volatile and reacting to china tarrifs. This was expected. This is something every president knew needed to be done, but would never be able to absorb the blow like Trump. The only thing that makes life terrible right now is the far left and legacy/social media having absolute meltdowns about everything everyday. Aside from that, things are looking up. Some of this has to happen. China has to posture to show its people it’s not weak, but we are their core consumer base. They need us. People seem to think they don’t, but they do.
No company, in their right mind, will invest millions into an inflation factory in the US, when there is a big congressional election, next year, that could cancel the tariffs or a presidential election in 2028 could overturn tariffs.

Anker 100% overreacted. Its been confirmed that Phones, computers, chips, TVs, and other electronic devices are exempt from the existing tariffs. I expect Anker to fully restore all products on Amazon to their original price as soon as possible.

Wanted to double check this was the politics forum.

Good! The USA needs a major reset. Homes are unaffordable. Rent is unaffordable. Jobs are mandating slave labor for low pay. Meanwhile corporations are making billions yet cutting hours and staff. Retail stores are running skeleton crews. People want to work, companies just won’t pay.

I haven’t had a raise in three years yet annually we have a corporate meeting saying how much more money my company is making year over year. My company keeps charging the consumer more and more yet gives nothing back. Let it all crash.

And issue refunds to anyone who may have overpaid.

Washing Machines are easy to find Made in the USA.
Speed Queen is made in Wisconsin.
Whirlpool and Maytag in Ohio.
GE in Kentucky.

Whirlpool, GE, Sub-Zero, True Residential refrigerators are Made in the USA, too.

Does anybody "need" a television?

That's final assembly. Because it's much cheaper to ship just the parts than it is to ship the fully assembled products, which have lots of empty space, meaning more shipping containers. I guaranteed all the electronic, heating elements, and other high-value, small parts are made in low wage countries. Maybe the sheet metal is bent here.

That was the Friday policy announcement. What about the one next Tuesday, or the one on April 30th? It's too bad we don't have someone in charge of economic policy who understand that businesses need predictability; like a real businessman, for example.

They now to bring the prices back down to normal.

Smartphones, computer monitors and various electronic parts are exempt from this tariff garbage.

The precedent has been set..

Bribe King Don and maybe get what you want.

CorruptionOS = Fully Installed

Four years of Trump, then four years of Biden splashing cash on a foreign war, and now just 90 days with Trump back—what’ll be left of the USA after these next four years?

Anker made the decision based on the tariffs that were imposed by the US. Their "mistake", if there was one, was considering the US position to be reliable when in reality it's changing basically on a daily basis. IMHO that's more on the US than on Anker though.

It's very difficult to make business decisions with this uncertainty and with this lack of reliability from the US. In general it is more and more apparent that the US tariffs policy is a mess either in concept or implementation or both.

😂 Raise prices, then have a XX percent off sale. Could have just left prices where they are. But optically, that doesn't look as goods as "Limited Time Offer! Get XX percent off!"

What a scam.
I agree. But their prices didn't go up because of Trump's 145% tariffs which only recently went into effect. Plus, all freight that was on the water this week is exempt from any new Trump tariffs, including freight already on the way from China and any nations now under a 90-day reprieve.

Anker prices went up "approximately 18 percent" on about 1/5 of their products and they're doing a 20% off sale which more than offsets that price increase.

Like I said, they could have just left prices where they were on the few items that got a price increase. But then they wouldn't have been able to run a "XX percent off sale"
As I said earlier, this price increase is a total scam.

Trump Exempts Smartphones, Other Electronics From Chinese Tariffs

April 12, 2025

Smartphones, laptop computers, memory chips and other electronics will be exempt from President Trump’s sweeping tariffs on China, according to new guidance from the administration, in another step back that could ease some consumer concerns about an immediate spike in costs for electronic products.

The guidance, published Friday night by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, also exempts machines used to create semiconductors, flat screen TVs, tablets and desktop computers from Trump's 125% China tariff and his 10% baseline tariff on countries around the world.

The move by the Trump administration could benefit companies like Apple, Samsung, HP, Dell, and Microsoft that manufacture parts of electronics outside of the U.S.

To be honest - Apple should have done the same, just to show theAmerican people, how they will feed Trump and his "entourage" in the future.

But - ok - it is already history - back to normal business. That kind of "learning by doing" could be appropriate for myself, but certainly not for an American President.

Trump seems once again to have acquired cold feet, exempting most tech from tariffs! Suddenly realises he can’t build enough factories or find the workers in time for Apple’s October event. Hilarious!

And once again the question is: how can any business rationally plan with all this zigzagging? And will we once again be told that the president is playing 4-D chess?

That’s the whole purpose of all this. Bring this stuff back in house and don’t be reliant or completely dependent on anyone.
Certainly. An iPhone produced in the US would be $2000. I’m sure you’d be happy to live in poverty to make America great again (for the super rich).

The level of denial in this thread is off the scale.
I guess some lessons can only be learned the hard way.

Given the exemptions, it seems he desperately wants T-shirt and shoe factories in the U.S.

Maybe he finally got the message from Tim Cook that iPhone is too high skill for American workers.

I want you to go watch interview by Howard Lutnick.

You will understand the whole bring manufacturing back is scam. Let me ask you this question: Would you want work at minimum wage and working over 10 hours a day to assemble iPhone? Ask yourself this question. If you don't want to do it, then why do you think others in US wants? Would you want working in an assembly line, making minimum wage and still can't afford yourself?

Trump wants money for himself or for repaying Treasury Bond, money gets Trump's exemption. Trump is showing to the whole world, how corrupt he is and what is his bottom line.

Well, that's what the "lazy immigrants stealing our jobs" are for, right?😏😇 Open up factories in the US and bring in foreign workers. The powers that be can brag about bringing manufacturing back to 'Merica.😑
