list of top annoying
You seem to have a lot of annoyances, I'd say things are getting to you, as you created a number of what annoys you type threads ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As for drivers that annoy me? As I'm older now, I just try to sit back and do my own thing - you know old man with a hat on and not in a rush. I may not always accomplish this, but generally it serves me well, so I'm generally at peace and not stressed when I'm done driving

Sorry you felt the need to make that personal comment. And here I thought we were having a light-hearted discussion about some pet peeves (which most humans have). I'm surely not losing sleep over any of them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I didn't mean to annoy you, I just noticed a trend. Sorry about misreading your intentions.

This is me on Monday morning, as I travel a lot for business, but when Friday afternoon hits and I am on my way home.... the road rage I had in my 20s kicks in!

My town has five lanes for the main street; two in each direction, and one middle turn lane - nearly every day I drive it, someone has to turn left, but cannot manage to get their entire car in the turn lane, so half the back end blocks the driving lane. Which means that the left driving lane either has to come to a complete stop, or swerve over to the right lane, neither of which are particularly safe options. If you plan ahead just 10 seconds more, you can get ALL of the car in the turn lane.

On several occasions, I've heard Jerry Seinfeld talk about how "irritable" he and most of his comedian friends are. He believes it's part of what makes them good comics (because you can make all kinds of funny observations about annoying behaviors people engage in). So I'm in good company.

Comedians can be quite annoying too...specially when they make fun of you. When I was young and driving in CA or NYC I used to get quite annoyed with other drivers. Then as I got older I started realizing that I too was annoying other drivers. Nowadays I don't get annoyed with other drivers. If they make driving mistakes, I just live with it (have to take it easy with this old heart of mine). In reality, every person is annoying. Only me, myself, and I am not annoying? 😂

Most of the things I listed don't raise my blood pressure. Now, just a few days ago some guy nearly sideswiped me as he started to change lanes without looking on the freeway and when I looked in my rearview mirror at them (driver and passenger) they were laughing. I'll admit that raised my blood pressure since they nearly took me out at 70mph and thought it was funny. But the other things mostly just get a sigh and head shake from me.

Parking your car is sort of like driving…
It really annoys me when people leave their car in a no parking zone, marked as such, or park in a HC space without the plate or temporary permit required. I've noticed it's more prevalent when it's raining.

I was walking across a parking lot once with my son, who was much younger then. A driver either was refusing to stop or didn't see us so, at one point I held out my hand (palm up) and yelled "STOP!" He hit his brakes pretty hard and was looking at me all confused but at the same time like I'd done something funny. The woman in the passenger seat (wife or girlfriend, I don't know) started yelling at him.

I would have been annoyed at his almost running us down had the woman not been yelling at him.

On another note…my brother in law was hit on the freeway once. Totaled his car and injured him. He was so angry about it though, that even injured, he climbed out of his wrecked car and proceeded to beat the living daylights out of the other driver.

Some of these are legitimate gripes about bad and dangerous behavior, and others are just pedantic whining.

Most common annoying drivers in Florida:
  • Drive slow on the left lane on the highway
This one I just don't understand, and will never understand. What goes through the mind of these people who cruise too slowly in the left lane and ignore every other driver that pulls up behind them clearly intending to pass...? Are these people stupid? Are they stone cold narcissists? What could possibly possess you to block traffic this way and just not care?

I remember once this girl kept driving slowly right at me even as I was in the middle of the crosswalk (in front of the grocery store). I held my hand out signaling her to stop and she responded by purposely lurching her car towards me (which is technically vehicular assault) and then slamming on her brakes to stop before hitting me. Absolute moron!

Yeah, probably not the wisest thing to add assault and battery charges to the mix, though I can certainly understand his anger!

I've heard two explanations regarding that.

Either, control freak "No one is getting past me, I control the road and everything on it."

…or traffic cop, "I am driving safely at the speed limit and I will make sure that everyone is too."

Well to the control freak I say, you need mental help. You aren't doing anything except creating a road hazard.
And to the traffic cop I say, you're just being annoying, and also creating a road hazard. The safe speed on the road is not the speed limit, it is whatever speed the road design and traffic volume dictates. There is nothing inherently safer about 70 vs 80 if the road design and traffic volume enables it.

This whole thread is what makes me want autonomous vehicles here yesterday. I used to be very much against autonomous vehicles, preferring freedom over robots. Now I wish for every single idiot on the road to be replaced with a bot that cannot be stupid and cannot violate traffic laws and cannot endanger other people.

Those sound like one and the same to me! Because the "traffic cop" knows darn well the person behind them will just pass on the right at the soonest opportunity and get around them anyway. They just feel empowered by blocking someone else in. Of course, sometimes when the person can't pass on the right, this happens instead:

I have zero respect for either of those drivers.

Someone's insurance company is not going to be happy.

Yep, the Camaro's actions were obviously worse, but many people in the comment section of that video believe the pickup truck was innocent (probably because they'd do the same thing). I'd simply ask them, would the Camaro have attempted to make that dangerous pass had the pickup not been impeding the flow of traffic? The answer is obviously "no," and thus he is partially to blame for creating the situation.

But wait! Driving over the speed limit, in any lane, violates a traffic law.
I'll have my coffee with and without cream…

At one point in the video you can see there is another vehicle in front of the truck. I don't know if it is still there when the Camaro made its move, but it was there earlier.

Yes it does. So one person would be violating the speed limit and the other would be violating the speed limit AND impeding the flow.

It wasn't. As soon as the pickup gets sideswiped, you can see the left lane is clear to the horizon. Pickup truck driver is a passive-aggressive moron; Camaro driver is an aggressive one.

I have a theory.

If you're on the Turnpike, they'll stay on the left lane. Why? To get to the Turnpike Service Plaza(s) which is every 45 minutes. It's crazy.

If you're on the I-4, I-95, and on the left lane, you're an *****.
