I'm sorry man but who cares how fast it boots??

People make it sound like they sit at their computer constantly booting their computer..
I have Tiger and Leopard dual booting and the only time I re-boot is to test something..

No offense :)

Well, I do. And it tells me something about how much it loads and processes upon booting, obviously. And there, Windows really sucks. Over time, booting will become slower and slower. Not on OS X.

To me Leopard is going to be a big test. I'm very annoyed with Apple, and disappointed. I fear they may be losing their touch. We've had practically no news of interest from them on the computer front. Sorry, I don't care about AppleTV, or iPhone. Where are the re-designed MBP's? Where's the mid-tower? Why are there practically no news about new software? Final Cut 5+ has just been a slight update to 4.5, it's been years since anything of interest has happened with FCP. Logic - same story. They can't even get iLife 7 out the door for cryin' out loud... same with iWork... and it's been six months since 10.4.8 and they can't even get a point release out: 10.4.9.

So it's down to Leopard. I reeeeaaaly hope all this waiting is worth it. I'm not optimistic. Nothing we've heard last year has jazzed me about 10.5. This year, they haven't even bothered talking about it. Ugh.

I fear they're getting distracted with iPhone, lamo AppleTV and various knick-knacks... and have forgotten their roots in the computer industry - no wonder they've renamed themselves to Apple, and dropped the Computer part... very ominous.

So, I'm hoping the next few months will be a veritable orgy of Apple computer news - both software and hardware... and that Leopard blows us away with superfabulous magic. We need this to restore our faith.

When there's no news for too long, I start losing interest, and look to other more dynamic companies. Apple is overdoing the secretive part. You can be totally silent for only so long before the "mystery" turns to crashing boredom. Apple is getting too close to losing momentum... to sustain momentum, and loyalty, you need to throw your fans a bone from time to time... we can't be running on empty forever... the time for something REALLY BIG is SOON.

Apple has had a great year

In response to the dissapointments out there; Apple has done amazing things in terms of their computers. The intel transition happened light years ahead of schedule, and the computers are rock solid. They are adding non-computer products to their line, yes, which should help the company financially. REmember, iPod saved apple in many ways. They will never abandon their computers, and when the new stuff hits the pipeline, we'll be pleased as always. Enjoy what you've got. I bet you're not using your equipment to its full potential anyway. Learn the computers and apps inside and out; that should keep you busy in the meantime.

Four freakin months and all we get is airport extreme and colorized shuffles.

ppffffft.

its true

i dont consider a new seeded 10.8.9 whatever news---especially since its seeded to the developers. Apple keeps delaying releases and giving out vague release dates, i.e. telling ppl who preordered appletv that it will come out in "mid-march" when the date changed to march 20/23rd, and "Spring" for leopard, and "Coming June" for iphone. Seems like what we'd really only see are previews of leopard in "spring" with actual release in stores to buy in fall and then a preview for iphone in "june" when we really cannot buy it until xmas 2007.

The waiting is agonizing and I'm tired of being addicted to mac news and starving to death from a lack of it!!!!

what happened!?

The fact that the server and client versions of both platforms were released at the same time to developers tells me these builds are gonna be the last and are just sitting in the wings waiting. When they get sent to users depends on when they fix the new iTunes and Quicktime. This is more than likely the hold up for the :apple: TV also.

Still betting on an April release for Leopard.Perhaps even March 20th to coincide with the :apple: TV release.

I was wondering what happened to april or may....no one even considered these months...they skipped from march to june...common people think :apple: , think different

OS 11 in 2020, the transition OS X to OS 11 is going to be 2020-2023.
OS C in 2200, the transition OS 99 to OS C is going to be 2200-2203.

But didn't the mayans predict the end of the world to be 2012

buddy get your facts straight...10.4.9.....don't argue otherwise

Yeah, and I doubt humans will make it another 150 years (tops) anyway.

Yes, there could be a 10.4.10, it isn't impossible. But you're missing the point. Apple WON'T do it because it would be confusing to the average consumer.

So it's pretty safe to say this is the last update.

I agree with you second point. However I do feel that if Apple thinks it is necessary they will issue a 10.4.10 update, but yes it will be confusing to many consumers and would shy away from such a decision.

I know they will release 10.5 first because they need to.
It's that or a 10.5.1 update within weeks after the release from Leopard.
They will choose for the 10.4.9 update a few weeks after 10.5.
That's what I know ;) and what I have heard ;)

PS:I'm not "the" source, I have a source :apple: We will see if it's reliable...

everyone has a source these days...I just hope yours is right cuz i really want leopard...we'll see

I believe Nostrodamus said the world would end in 3797 and I don't believe the world is going to end in 2012.
