So they can say some people can still use it one-handed.

Of those who've tried similar phones: some will like it as they don't need their other hand, others won't and will need their other hand anyway. And some will dislike accidentally pressing it because it's always under their fingers. As ever, you can't please them all.

As for the rumors, it's less double-down and more an express train.

I can use my 5 Inch Nexus 5 one handed most of the time. If the power button was on the top, there would be considerably more hand movement in order to turn it on/off. Also, I've never accidentally turned it off, and I've had it for 5 months now.
I can see why some people with smaller hands wouldn't like a 5.5 inch iPhone, but I think people underestimate how far their hands can stretch.

There is a possibility that this case, being that it has the rectangular buttons from the touch, could actually be a 5.5" touch. With the 4.7" size being for the iPhone 6.

If this case is for the iPod touch, why would it have a mute switch on the side?

Something I've never understood.

Who makes these cases?
Why do they make them early?
What do they base designs on?
Are they in talks with Apple?
Are they just going on the same rumours we've seen?

In other words, what does this really indicate to us? Just guesses by companies eager to get their cases to market as soon as the iPhone 6 is released? Actual concrete contracts with Apple to produce cases for the iPhone 6?

I suspect there are people with knowledge of schematics and moulds being 'financially compensated' for 'letting slip' a detail or two. Those cases remind me of the cheap ones that have a loose fit. I suspect given the iPhone demand that being first to market with a case that is not quite exactly to spec is still worth the risk.

If they move the power button, they also make home button a little bit small or somehow....we dont see how long the case is....i hope is not 140mm long for god sake

----------

i hope this are somehow cases based on 2013 suppose iphone prototypes

Not sure I understand moving the power button to the side. Is there a reason, or moving it just to move it?
IMO, the side makes more sense...especially when you have the phone in your pocket with headphones in. With the headphones in, the phone is essentially sitting on the power button which could cause the screen to turn on/waste battery while in the pocket. Moving the power button to the side stops that.

Yes... I sense a June release - apple simply can't wait all the way to September to FINALLY release a bigger phone. this should have been out LAST September.

Apple can't wait until September? Why? I'm always skeptical about these Apple must do xxx right now comments. Like that stupid financial analyst who said Apple would essentially be dead if they didn't release a smartwatch in 60 days.

More case maker roulette. How many of these case rumors turn out to be true? I'd guess very few. I'd wait to see leaked iPhone chassis before drawing any conclusions. And given past years we won't have to wait that long for that kind of leak.

Oh noes a button may have moved, this for me is worse than the monumentally bad decision to move the earphone socket. I will never buy another Apple product again.

Some mention due to the size of the device. May also be necessary to move it due to the change in camera optics since the camera currently sits just below the power button. Improved optics and optical image stabilization may require more space in that region meaning the need to move the power button.

According to 9to5Mac "the source of these images has not been proven to be trustworthy".

Yeah i see

Actually, for large phones have the power button on the side works allot better. If you have smaller hands, it's already a pain trying to hit the power button on the top with one hand on the iPhone 5. Thankfully I have long fingers. If Apple is indeed make 5+ inch Phones, I would HOPE they put the button on the side.

I see yeah i agree with you. It just reminds me of something samsung would do but don't you think samsung would use it against apple that there coping them. as obscured as it may sound but the stuff we hear about apple and samsung in court and the stuff they try suing each other for is a little strange.

They moved the front camera to the middle that turned out to be right too.

For me this is possible. But it doesn't matter where the home button is on the phone I never actually turn my Iphone off much anyway.

The button on the side makes ergonomic sense. It puts the sleep button right where your pointer finger is is you're right handed or where your thumb is if you're left handed. When the bigger one comes out it makes even more sense to have it on the side.

Apple are gong to pull a 'shock launch' with the 6. Mid-summer.

Phablets are killing iPhone sales.

All these rumors show a back case (on the phone) that doesn't have any windows for antennas, something that is required if the back is aluminum, but not plastic.

I can't imagine Apple going plastic, after the consumer response they saw to the 5c vs 5s. Unless of course a plastic backed version has all the upgrades.

I guess we'll find out soon enough - when someone posts video and shots of a fully operating new iPhone...

I've got an iPhone 5. I like resting it on my pinky finger with my ring and middle fingers along the left edge while my thumb rests on the flat of the right side; my index finger moves around under the backside frequently to counteract one-handed usage with my thumb.

To turn off my phone, my thumb slides up over the top right corner to rest on the power switch while my index, middle, and ring fingers all swing parallel to the backside of my phone before curling slightly against the left edge. It is a very satisfying motion.

I will say first that I hope they do not move the power switch; I don't want the "stop everything" button to be exactly where my thumb naturally rests. Seems like a recipe for disaster.

I will then also say that I hope I can still buy a full-featured 4" iPhone 6 this Fall.

The vendors usually make the cases based on rumors and the likely hood of them being true. Otherwise, they'd be months behind on making a case for the new phone.

Apple won't give them the schematics before launch, and the phone is ready to go on launch day. So for an end user, we'd have a brand new phone with little to no cases the day we purchase them.

So basically, the vendors are taking a stab at it.

We have yet to see an actual phone. For all we know this case and that face plate could be for a new iPod touch.

An iPod Touch at that size would also be nice. Especially one at that size with broadband LTE antennas.

Yup, then sue Samsung and every other company for copying them.

And all images of phones that had it before will suddenly just be considered moot or photoshop hack jobs.

Next week is Apple's earnings call. I suspect we'll get an idea then if anything new is expected in the current quarter based on the guidance Apple provides.

They will never do the power button on the side thats probably a samsung case lol.

Hate power button on the side. I always seem to accidentally press it when using a Samsung in stores. Never will I want Apple have it on the side.

Not sure I understand moving the power button to the side. Is there a reason, or moving it just to move it?

I'm going to be really disappointed if Apple moves the power button to the side.
It's uneconomical and not user friendly; you always end up pressing it accidently on Android phones designed like that.

Wait until you try a 4.5"+ screen with the power button on top, then you'll see what non user friendly means. The power button on the side takes about a day to get used to when you actually own the phone and don't just try it in a store, and is necessary for larger devices.

Something I've never understood.

Who makes these cases?
Case makers
Why do they make them early?
Time to market. If they have the cases out there for launch, people will buy theirs rather than wait months until your company has one ready
What do they base designs on?
Leaks that they pay handsomely for
Are they in talks with Apple?
No

These rumors are coming fast and furious, does that mean an update sooner then later?

This is what I'm thinking… last year case leaks came about 2 months before release if I remember correct… seems like they were in August with a September announce. But I could be remembering wrong?

I use one every single day without issue.
