Large screen format . . . . "done right!"

And of course the sponges on various forums will soak that crap up.

Only because it's true. Apple does things others have done before them, but in a much better fashion. Remember cell phones before the iPhone? By and large, they sucked. Same for tablets. Same for ipods. Same for buying music. Same for personal computing.

It would make sense if the power button is moved to the side. If the device is going to get taller it's going to be harder to hit that power button with one hand.

On the HTC M8 the power button is on top and it's not very easy to get to one handed (at least not with tiny girl hands).

I wonder if the much rumoured 4.7-inch iPhone is only a mid-tier, while the 5.5-inch model is the real high-end device. Very confused.

They will never do the power button on the side thats probably a samsung case lol.

When then new iphone is released with the power button on the side you and the rest of the fanbois will say it's magical. Samsung is really in your head aren't they?

I bet you really have big ole gorilla hands

Except for the last phone launch in June, iOS 4 beta was announced in April. No one is expecting an iOS 8 beta until June. So that would mean the phones ship with 7.x software. Seems highly unlikely, especially considering there will probably be new features that require iOS 8 to work.

Valid point.

I agree with that.

The taller the phone, the harder to press a button on the top. I like it on the side for larger phones, never have problems accidentally pressing it.

iPads are much larger than iPhones and still have power buttons on top. I don't see anyone complaining.

I acidentally press the power button on my Samsung Note II (as big a phone as it gets) all the time. I hate side power buttons.

Have a look at the camera comparison of the current major smartphones available. http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/C...LG-G2-Nexus-5-Sony-Xperia-Z1_id3653/page/7#2-

Galaxy S5 - 8.16
Galaxy S4 - 8.0
LG G2 - 7.66
Xperia Z1 - 7.66
iPhone 5S - 7.33

Very subjective. All the major apps are available on both ios and Android with none or very little difference. Can you set a new app such as messenger, keyboard or broswer to act as default on ios? Can you share content amongst all apps on ios?

Lets look at some more stats with real life usage ;)
http://www.phonearena.com/news/LG-G2-battery-life-test-long-live-the-king_id50808

LG G2 - 6hr 48min
Galaxy Note 3 -6hr 8min
HTC One - 5hr 45min
iPhone 5s - 5hr 2 min

Proof?

Seriously? Phonearena as a reputable source? you are joking... Go to anandtech. The 5s beats even the note 3 on 4g browsing, despite the massive size difference and having a faster SoC (the a7).

Android is far from optimized and that's why they need massive gargantuan batteries on phones.

Heck, even on recent reviews (the verge, cnet, anandtech, ars tech) they all said that the 5s camera is definitely better, overall.

About apps you are right. But app quality is way higher on iOS, even on simple apps like facebook and twitter, all the way to all of the iOS 7 ready apps that just put those Android apps (even from the same dev) on the trash.

I am amazed MacRumors still puts stock in case designs after being royally burnt before from it. Till I see the phone I don't believe it.

It's really hard not to be sarcastic and mean. The iPad is a two-handed device. The iPhone can be a more one-handed device when the button is placed on the side. It's that simple.

This phone is getting leaked like crazy. Normally I would call all this off as bull$hiit, but leaks have turned out to be correct in the past, especially the leaks about the iPhone 5's stretched screen size. It's even worse now because these are actually clear as day pictures.

I'm not surprised since it's not the actual phone but a case which is based on blurry leaks and as a product has nothing to do with Apple.

I wonder if the much rumoured 4.7-inch iPhone is only a mid-tier, while the 5.5-inch model is the real high-end device. Very confused.

They wouldn't dream of differentiating the specs of the devices based on screen size, it would kill sales. The only possible difference as rumored by one analyst was that the highest storage 5.5" would be the only ones getting sapphire for the time being, strictly due to supply constraints. If they don't all have sapphire this year, they will next year.

It's as simple as looking at the iPad mini with retina and the iPad Air. The devices are identical except for screen size and battery, though the larger battery is supplying the larger display.

Clear as day pictures of cases don't count. Nor are they always accurate. The guys making the cases don't have any more information than us, they've simply decided to bet on the rumours being true.

Not sure I understand moving the power button to the side. Is there a reason, or moving it just to move it?

I think if Apple were to do it, it would be because of the taller screen, so it would be easier to reach the power button on the side instead of the top.

Not necessarily true, http://9to5mac.com/2011/10/14/hard-candy-loses-big-on-cases-for-rumored-iphone-5-design/

They can be given info from people in china, whether or not they get accurate info is unknown to us (aside from this case where the case maker took a gamble based on multiple contacts telling him details).

First a bigger display and now a new location for the power button!?
So much changes... We are bound to see a spike in Apple Fanboys heart attacks

On a more serious note, I guess that important things in life now revolve around smartphone specs. Put the phone down and go play with your kids, dog, or call your mother to tell her that you love her... :D

I believe the "extra effort" needed to push a top button far exceeds the hassle of accidentally pushing the side button. And it's one of the main complaints of friends of mine who also own Galaxy Notes.

Thanks for not being sarcastic or mean. It accomplishes absolutely nothing, either than proving beyond doubt one's immaturity.

Something I've never understood.

Who makes these cases?
Why do they make them early?
What do they base designs on?
Are they in talks with Apple?
Are they just going on the same rumours we've seen?

In other words, what does this really indicate to us? Just guesses by companies eager to get their cases to market as soon as the iPhone 6 is released? Actual concrete contracts with Apple to produce cases for the iPhone 6?

Easy answer.

Hate power button on the side. I always seem to accidentally press it when using a Samsung in stores. Never will I want Apple have it on the side.

Unless they detect accidental clicks.
You have to press it:
- not once
- not twice
- but trice

I have no problem with a price increase. Hey, they gotta eat. :apple:

What I'm not liking is the prospect of upgrading to a 4.7" in September, only to then see a 5.5" version a few months later, which is the one I really want. But then I don't want to wait possibly another 6-8-10 months for the 5.5" version and miss out on the already significantly larger screen all that time (4.7" vs. 4").

Are we looking at a repeat of the 3rd gen. iPad and then the 4th gen. came out only 7 mos. later?

My life is officially on hold until I can work this problem out by obsessively coming up with increasingly scarier scenarios that make me want to reach for my pipe.

You're making the flawed assumption that the 5.5" is an "upgrade" of the 4.7". It's not like 3rd/4th gen iPads because these are the same generation.

Seriously.... Does it even really need a power button anymore? Just hold down the home button.

You mean the action that opens up Siri?

I use the power button all the time to turn off the screen, anyway.
