My guess is that if Rugby had nine 300+ pound and six 250+ pound steriod-enhanced athletes capable of running the 40 in 4.5 seconds and bench pressing a Honda Civic on the loose, they would wear similar equipment. :D

I agree, imagine the runningbacks in the NFL playing Rugby. You think they will get tackled in an open field every 5 yards? No way. Also, imagine the NFL linebackers tackling you without special equipment. They would have a fatality or two every season.

Question: Which generate more money?

A. World Cup.
B. Super Bowl.
C. Rugby Championship (dont know the name for it)

I guess I need to learn to summarize.

Oh dear, it comes down to money.

How about "Which generates the most spectator excitement" "Which has the most breaks in play for adverts" "Which sport has the most active participants" "Which sport needs the least equipment" "Which has the most obese spectators"

and so on.

As a relative newbie - do the mods ever step in here nad close down off-topic threads?

As long as they remain civil, I'm pretty sure they don't in most cases. Especially for one as old as this one.

WOW _ I really enjoyed readinng tha t- true or not and who knows (wellk, ok, some at apple do).
There was something rock solid about it.
DP PM x-board makes sense w/ SP G5 IMac and Maxed IBook and G5 PB makes sense. And I have read the articples where Micro$oft expects appels market share to rise. M$ is only about $ and wouldn't keep writing $software fo rtthe MAc if they didn't expect to get rich doinng it.
'Course -i just bought a G4 933 and part of me whent "DOH!" when I read it - but so what - I love my ibook. I wouldn'tsell it on ebay for a higher speed ibook. But I would sell it for a DP G5 PM... and then look at a low end G5 PB next year.
thanks

this is, of course, the rankest sort of my speculation and wishful thinking - but I'd like to think that there is a difference among those at Apple who know what will happen - and those that know WHEN it will happen.
Perhaps giving away the latter he makes it too easy to find him.
Or he is a deliberate "plant" by steve to give hope to the multitudes. "Relax keep yopur credit card handy - there's lots to come" w/o actually announcing anything. If I were steve I would do that.
Or, perhaps he took a bit too much acid last night.
All are equally true and equally false.

When will the updates arrive? Now.

The future exists as a mind created illusion. One can never operate in the future or visit the past. all happens now.

So, that is the answer to when new updates will come. When they arrive it will be Now.

Every one is expecting Apple to do something for the 20th Anniversary of the Mac, but actual rumors on what and when they are going to do it still appear pretty scarce, apart from speed bumps on the Powermacs, hopefully next week.
