You just contradicted yourself.
Nope, bought a 7, saw their solution to no headphone jack, didn't like it. Choose to return the phone because Apple couldn't restore a backup for two years ago, suggested I re-buy all my apps.

Your apps are linked to your Apple ID, not to a local or cloud backup. What exactly do you mean?
Yep, I would be p|ssed as hell if Apple made me loose my dongle.

Better have no kid than many people I've seen whining and complaining and blaming the kid after the kid drop their phone. If one chose to become a parent, one have to man up on the responsibility. Are you a parent? Bet not.
When you do become a parent you will be surprised what you will do for just a few minutes of peace and quiet!

Besides, with so many cheap Android phones and tablets, it's not breaking the bank to get a separate device for the kid. Just sayin.
Wireless headphones require no dongle.Correct they didn't force me to buy anything, I choose to buy a 7, since returned for another reason btw. They DID however force me to use a easily loseable doggle.

Sorry if you think my comment was about you. My comment is about my observation, not about you. So you can be as great parents as you can, it doesn't negate what I observed of others.Non-parents always have an abundance of advice for parents lol.
When I hand my phone to my kids, I only do so in environments where an accidental drop won't cause a problem.
Now, if they break it on purpose, then yes, I will be all over them. We've taught our kids that we don't destroy things in fits of rage. Doesn't matter if it's a $5 plastic toy or an iPhone. The principle is the same and they shall be disciplined in either case. Sorry if that bugs you.
My wife replaced her iPhone 6 with iPhone 7. It's been few weeks now, and as a non-techie person, here's her review: feels and looks the same, but locks up and looses signal a lot more often. She wants her old phone back. This is the first time since iPhone 3 that she doesn't like a new iPhone. I'm pretty sure she's not the only one.
Then yesterday, my 6 year old daughter wanted to listen to PBS Kids. She brings her kid headphones, aaaand fail - we already lost the stupid dongle. Had to use my 6S Plus instead.

I'm not happy about the lack of a headphone jack either. But as somebody else pointed out to me in another thread, just pick up additional adapters and leave the the adapter on each pair of headphones you have. Or, pick up some Bluetooth headphones. My wife replaced her iPhone 6 with iPhone 7. Yup and they should have been included in the package for $700+!
If Apple ever eliminates options for plugging in headphones via wire, yes, they should.Yup and they should have been included in the package for $700+!

If you expect people on this forum to feel your pain, you're wasting your time. As evidenced by most replies here, most of them don't realize that this phone theoretically is supposed to serve YOU, make YOUR life easier, save YOU time. Not the other way around.
In the original post, it is stated the child wants to LISTEN to a program. The child doesn't need to hold the phone to do so with wireless headphones. The parent can keep the phone on their person. This way no expensive phone is destroyed.Better have no kid than many people I've seen whining and complaining and blaming the kid after the kid drop their phone.
