My wife replaced her iPhone 6 with iPhone 7. It's been few weeks now, and as a non-techie person, here's her review: feels and looks the same, but locks up and looses signal a lot more often. She wants her old phone back. This is the first time since iPhone 3 that she doesn't like a new iPhone. I'm pretty sure she's not the only one.

Then yesterday, my 6 year old daughter wanted to listen to PBS Kids. She brings her kid headphones, aaaand fail - we already lost the stupid dongle. Had to use my 6S Plus instead.

I think the "Fail" is on your behalf. Why is the adapter YOU lost stupid? Sounds like some serious user error. And it sounds as if your wife is having issues with the carrier service versus the actual iPhone hardware. If she doesn't like it, that's understandable. But that doesn't mean the iPhone itself is defective.

I would say it's time to stock up on those $9 dongles if you're a family, until most of your headphones gradually get switched out for lightning or bluetooth. Like all tech migrations, there's going to be some inconvenience for a while.

Exactly.
Something that serves you and works for you.
if it doesn't then you dont buy or you return it.
Not everyone's needs are the same.
Why buy something that doesn't work for you and then sit there and complain about it?

He did return it. Shared his frustration because for some of us who don't treat their phones like a museum piece, the 7 is in many ways a downgrade.

OP, don't despair, this forum is filled with people who primarily base their sense of worth and self esteem on the pride of Apple ownership.

I understand where you are coming from. Sometimes, you just don't know how something is going to impact you until you are using it in the real world. Many probably thought the loss of the jack would be ok, and thought that going in, only to find its more annoying than hoped.

Add this in with the long list of other issues and shortcuts with the 7, and we are looking at the worst iPhone to date. The 6S is superior tech and a superior phone (no hissing, excellent performance, better materials, audio jack, etc). I'd recommend grabbing one.

That's a good thing that there's plenty of options then.
I personally love my 7 plus.
Its a huge upgrade from my 6 plus and I use it a lot every single day.
I dont treat it as a "museum piece" but as a tool to perform certain tasks throughout the day.
It fits my needs perfect and Im happy with my purchase and have zero issues. ;)
Its the best iPhone to date and I had them all since 2007.
You shouldnt have to convince yourself or try to convince others that you're ok staying with the old and outdated 6S:D

Well actually you're the one convincing yourself cos no one asked you how YOU feel. The thread is about OPs experience ;)

The overwhelming majority(you know, just about everyone else who isn't on MacRumors) is likely enjoying their new phones. Even on here it seems there are more happy people than unhappy people. As with most of these "issues" there is a vocal minority who won't stop complaining.
Do I need to bring out the cheese again. So much whine going around.

If Apple ever eliminates options for plugging in headphones via wire, yes, they should.

Otherwise, no since they have provided an option to plug in typical wired headphones.

I view the 'issue' the same as the way people used to complain up and down about iPads having no USB ports. Not so much anymore....

Why? The phone came with wired headphones? A company is not in business to give things away for free. The wired headphones work. If you want wireless, pay for them. If they included wireless instead, people would complain because they lost them. And you would likely post, for $700+ they should have included wired headphones instead.

Standing ovation for Apple - marketing world champions - really admire what they've done! Came up with a way not only to get more money out of you but for you to do it with big smiles on your faces. And by the millions ...

Yah, there's going to be some inconvenience... which will result in a lot of you going out and forking out extra $150 for wireless headphones. If it was convenient (include the new technology in the package), why would you ever spend extra?

The only additional money they got from me is when I spend an extra $9 to purchase an extra adapter.
Besides that anyone is free to purchase any wired or wireless Bluetooth headphone from any manufacturer they want.
You can spend $10 for Bluetooth headphones or just use the included adapter and not spend anything.
You do not have to buy their $150 Air-pods if you dont want to you know :D

Right. That's you! And then there are those who see the Apple logo and automatically reach for their wallet.

I've used wireless headphones for the past 6 years. I venture to say millions of other people do, also. Apple gets the yearly iPhone quota out of me. Since the phone comes with an adapter, how are they getting more money out of anyone? Simple fact is, you don't want it, don't buy it. You're frugal? Buy Samsung.

iMacs/MacBook Pros don't come with CD/DVD drives. People survived and the computers have one less hardware failure waiting to happen.

Get with the times. Or not. There are first adopters and eventual adopters. Pick one.

You're frugal? Buy Samsung.

Oh man, they got you firmly by the stones. I'd buy a Samsung not because I'm frugal but because I get a better package (let the exploding comments rain)

Dude, you like getting less for your money? Not me.

Yah, of course you survived. You and millions others most likely also spent the money to buy that CD drive that should have been part of the package all along. How can you be so blind? They will keep giving you less and less if they see you're willing to go out and buy all that stuff at a premium.

Apple users are like a bizarre psychology experiment:

Apple - "This year we give you less than before for the same or more money"

User - "I love it. Where can I buy the stuff you didn't include?"

If you expect people on this forum to feel your pain, you're wasting your time. As evidenced by most replies here, most of them don't realize that this phone theoretically is supposed to serve YOU, make YOUR life easier, save YOU time. Not the other way around.[/QUOTE
[doublepost=1477429023][/doublepost]... I agree. And let me please add this: most people on this forum are Apple fans, who, as such, will never express any unbiased opinion or induldge into critical analysis on such or such issue. To them, whatever Apple will or will not make is right and will not be subject to questioning.

It's all preference. Who gives a crap? I never bought a CD drive. Had a PS2 that I could use for movies and App Store for software.

I have the money and spend it how I CHOOSE.

There are much more important things to worry about spending money on for most people such as continuing Healthcare costs which could by you about 6 -8 iPhones a year. All this whining about bang for you buck in a free market retail society is hilarious.

Why is that? I'm perfectly happy with the headphones that are included. Why do I need to spend more money? The argument makes no sense.

It's Apple's fail that they've forced this upon us and their solution was a small doggle that as time goes by will be lost by many more.

They FORCED nothing. The produced a phone with no headphone jack, but they did not threated to harm you or your family unless you ordered the headphone-jack-less iPhone 7 did they? No, you chose to get one, knowing full well that this could be an issue.

They also did not force you to lose your dongle. Mine is exactly where I left it - on the end of the headphones I regularly use

I believe they called it courageous, I call it a way of getting more money from you. I predict most users will lose that stupid dongle then complain they can't buy another cause they're out of stock.

Re my other issue. I logged into my Apple ID and got some of my apps back but not all and some were paid apps. I called Apple, they restored some more but again I "lost" some paid apps. The Apple support person told me the rest would be restored in an hour. It's been 4 days and they weren't so I returned the phone.

After being an Apple household since the 1980s, it looks like I'll be done.

Exactly. I specifically posted the admittedly short review from a non-techie, because my wife doesn't get wrapped up in specs. She just uses the phone. She upgraded to every new release since iPhone 3, mostly because of me, but she ended up finding something to like about every new iPhone. This is the first one that is a downgrade in her usability.

The headphone jack comes up more than I thought it would - I disagree with it because it's pure Apple greed and them creating another fragmentation in the marketplace, but for my wife it's just a plain PITA at times. From realizing the headphones at the nightstand are the old earbuds and the new ones are in the kitchen, or our kids trying to use it (they have small, kid headphones), or trying to charge it while listening to something, etc., etc., etc. There is not a single consumer benefit to this.

I always protect my dongle and keep it with me wherever I may roam.

Ya just don't know when you're gonna need it! :)

Once after I had been in the pool I had a hard time finding mine!
[doublepost=1477448137][/doublepost]
Yup and they should have been included in the package for $700+!
Why? The phones that come with it require no dongle,PLUS you still get a dongle if you want to use different ones.
