You mean they'll include the option to put the watch on the phone for recharging? :p;)

if it is fugly I'm not buying  :p New wifi ad? I still think the Iphone 5 version was the nicest.

I tried alot today to touch the iphone from the middle spot on the back to see if i can get used to it. I cant i will go back to passcodes. But because multiple rumors show this, im pretty sure touch id will move to the back. That means rip touch id for me, wich is really sad.

If this is real I guess it means that the display is now going to take up such a big part of the front of the device that the home button with a built in TouchID sensor from previous models no longer fits on the front of the device.

I was wondering how they'd make TouchID work from underneath the display. Turns out they weren't able to do that and had to put in a kludge like this. Not exactly the most elegant way to solve the problem, but if it works, it works.

Even if technical reasons meant they had to put Touch ID on the back, there's not a cat in hell's chance they would risk being accused of copying Samsung and doing it.

Apple will find a far superior way to continue having it on the front and implement it.

Samsung were unable to integrate the fingerprint reader into the display on the new Galaxy S8 and they make the displays and have been amongst the global leaders in display technology for years! So what makes you think Apple can out-innovate the engineers who create the tech Apple rely on?

A fingerprint reader on the back is a clear sign of a catastrophic design failure. However, Apple have become pretty good at screwing up and making compromises at the expense of a great user experience, so it would be something they would be arrogant enough to do and claim that it's a great new feature.

I guess I have more faith in Apple's engineers than I do Samsung's.

Touch ID being on the back is a big step back. I unlock my phone on the desk quite a bit.

All these rumours are making me worry that it's going to be the case!

Touch ID on the back is a deal breaker for me unless Apple implements a secure but equally convenient way to unlock the iPhone whilst it's laying on a flat surface.

I also unlock it while laying on the desk, and at night I avoid putting it too close to my face and keep it rotated towards the ceiling to avoid being flashed by the display, so the front camera wouldn't recognise me.

What if they reduce the home button or make it rectangular so they can have a smaller bezel on the bottom (and on the top since they want them to be equal)?
With iPhone 7 the home button is not a real button, it just provides feedback and I don't think they need the fingerprint sensor to be a circle.

Well, iPad is different.
Media always can't get correct rumors, or even can't get any information with the iPads. I don't know why.
Ues, but people that are saying: no, apple won' t do that, they have never done it before, so it won' t happen, etc. Need to remind themselves that apple never released an anniversery model, or 3 top models with one new next gen design in one year.
So all is not decided yetz

What about them scanning your whole finger(s) with touch id so you dont have to do much effort to unlock with touch id?

Why is it different? How is it in any way related would be a better question.

Losing legacy stuff like ODD/headphone jack always has a valid argument. Chucking Touch ID onto the back as that's the only way to satisfy some bezel-free lust is bleeding stupid.

Maybe the iris scanner is superior enough to justify it

The design was likely finalised even before the S8 came out and they can't change it now. The phones probably entering production at this stage

Has anyone considered that this could be the 7s or 7s? I've looked at these quite a bit and I know that the s's are supposed to be incremental improvements of the 7's, but the current non-plus chassis is over 5.5 inches. You could incorporate a 5.5 inch screen onto the body if you moved the home button. Nobody seems to have considered the fact that they could be offering bigger LCD screens on the s phones. Its certainly out of the box thinking, but its possible.

Too hard to use.

That sensor sits way too low. How would you reach it when holding it normally? I would say, it's the magnetic connector for charging like on the Watch.

Yeah... I made this guess on the last post about this design.
It's DEFINITELY a long shot (much smaller than the Apple Watch inductive charger; closer to TouchID in size), but that would be optimal.
Because... if it is the new TouchID location- gross! Lol.

Too hard to use.

It's not hard to use though

Works fine on the S8 plus. It's actually ideal when the phone is on the table

7s plus, i think and hope.....

So :
-the regular 7s that has the same design as the 7, but with upgraded camera, soc, etc but with the old touchid on the same place. I hope for a higher display res.
-the 7s plus(as in this picture:) with touchid on the back, 5.5 inch 16:9 ips lcd screen, upgraded soc/cams, less bezel and chins.
-the iphone 8/edition/x with a steel frame and 2.5d glass on both sides, 5.8 inch oled at 19:9 or 20:9, touchid under display, etc.

At least that is what i am hoping for..... and that this is the leaked schematic of the iphone 7s plus.
Or all the new phones have the infinity display: 7s, 7s+, and Edition.

That would be pretty cool.

No stupid Touch ID on the back, most people use CASES!!

On the plus side, if you have an hole in the case it is easier to find the fingerprint sensor.
Cases with pictures on the back would be ruined by an hole though.

if so, just wondering... why still need a touch id on back while iris scanner is pretty good practically?
For Apple Pay and even at the back the FP sensor will still be faster to turn on the phone if your muscle memory gets used to it

No,

I think just the iphone 7s plus and the iphone 8/x/edition.
The regular 7s will still feature the same design, same screen dimensions and the same place for touchid, erc. Just with an upgraded soc and cams, wireless charging, and , hopefully a slightly higher res. But it is a reach, i know...
I would love a more compact 16:9 5,5 inch iphone 7s plus . I would even prefer it above the screensize of the iphone x/8, other than the fact it won' t be oled.
I just don' t know, but actually that is the fun part...

5 months before launch?

No chance.

They likely don't go into the initial production run until August.

I think this is a really valid point.
