I'm all for the touch id on the back. I don't see why people are against it. It' feels natural to me... looking forward to this release, though this might be the year I switch to the galaxy 8.
Because you now have awkward cutouts in every case on the market just for TouchID. It doesn't make sense to have it on the back when everyone's thumbs are consistent. Also, now I'm required to pickup my phone to turn it on whereas right now I can just push the button on my desk.

definitely looks legit, we've seen similar leaks in the years before and they turned out to be 100% spot on.

Either this is the new 7S and 8 is still unseen or this is the new iPhone that we will be seeing in September.

since KGI said all of three new iphones will have inductive charging, since this has aluminium back...maybe is the iphne 7s plus, but this have a more compact dimensions so its conflicts with others rumours . Also if this is iphone 8 why aluminium back? why no cutout for volume? again it conflicts

Some straws being clutched at here. If that big round circle on the back of the phone is required for inductive charging then that is one of the least elegant implementations of it I have ever seen.

I'm hoping that Apple is just trying to flood the market with false specs of different variations to keep people guessing right up to the official announcement.

This wish has been expressed around this time of year for the last few years, and unfortunately it has not been granted.

looks like an SE without the little glass cut-outs. And with rumors of the SE stock running low, maybe they are putting all those special CNC machines to better use on this thing.
It would make sense as programming CNC machines is easier and faster than creating a new case in such short notice.
I love the SE, so regardless of the sensor being on the back. If it looks like a bigger SE, I'm all in.

If those measurements are correct, it's also ginormous. It's only a couple of millimeters smaller than the iPhone 7 Plus.

I don't believe these rumors, but then again, I didn't believe the rumors about removing the headphone jack...

Positioning of the Touch ID cutout is horrible. Even worse than the S8. Look at you're holding the phone right now. Having the button half way down the casing makes it too low for any finger in an iPhone 7 sized device.

I hope to god these aren't real.

There's simply no way possible that Apple would do something as bone-headed as placing the sensor on the back. I don't even think that Tim Cook could possibly be that out of touch. A rear located sensor requires the unnatural holding of the phone. Almost everyone holds the phone on the sides, making the current location of the scanner very natural and easy to reach with the thumb. IMO, a sensor located on the rear would essentially require an entirely new re-programming of users in how they handle their phone.

Just not seeing it.

Have more faith. He can still bone-head it up.

Don't you think the design is locked by now? You can't have the tooling to manufacture 20 million phones for sale in Sept or Oct and not have a finalized design, can you?

Some parts are probably finalized by now, but they may have several alternate options finalized. The exterior casing of the iphone is machined by cnc, so it can be changed right up until the final hour.

Based on recent history, I think this may be closer to the final product. I think the expectations are a little high that Apple had something really different coming, and maybe actually just a reflection of what Samsung is doing. Not to say it won't be a solid upgrade, and I will buy one. At least they didn't put the fingerprint reader next to the camera!

Apple needs to source a gazillion parts for an iPhone, I don't think they would be able to make enough OLED screens with magic fingerprint detectors integrated. That kind of technology and production probably would have started by now to be ready for release. Maybe they will surprise us with a very high end model in limited supply.

It took Apple three years to realize the design flaws in the Mac Pro, the MacBook Pros are solid but not ground breaking. I don't think they have the chops to produce a major update this year and source all the parts. Best to hope they can be a fast follower. New iPhone design in 2018-20, but solid upgrades to processors, camera and the ecosystem in the meantime.

I call BS, there is no way in hell Apple is dumb enough to put TouchID in the back. This is a fake leaked schematic of a prototype. Apple will incorporate TouchID into the front screen, even if it means low yield rates, the iPhone 8 will simply be limited in stock initially. Apple have been producing amazing phones year on year. Do you people honestly believe Apple would take a step back?

Edit: No way in hell. Mark my words. We will all be pleasantly surprised when the IPhone 8 is unveiled.

With the touch ID on the back, it's in an awkward place and not sure how one would go about unlocking the device one handed. I even tried testing it on my phone and with one-handed it won't work. Maybe if you use both hands but not feasible with using just 1 hand.

I dunno, it looks like it could be their plan if they aren't able to make it work under the display. But if you promise...

It's not, rest assured Apple are not stupid. They will make it work, probably already have.

This can't be iPhone 8 it essentially has the same build as a 7.. Touch ID and Camera aside.

It would be ginormous. It looks like it's the size of the 7 Plus in a case that looks like the SE. The screen would be a nice big size if it's edge to edge though.

I am beginning to accept the fact that THIS IS THE NEXT iPHONE. Past experiences with leaks of the 5, 5c, 5s, 6, 6s, and the 7 have always been consistent with the final design. We almost never saw schematics that didn't match the final product.

This is the next iPhone. It's awful, and way off the hype that's been created for this phone for 3 years now, but this is it. Tim Cook's Apple is notoriously known now for leaking things to prepare people; we had reports from 2015 that Apple was going to remove the headphone jack in 2016, and they did it.

So let's not beat around the bush and make stupid claims, THIS IS THE 2017 iPHONE.
