This would be perfect. Even better if they show a "false" version of what it looks like first with the Touch ID on the back, then a big "NOPE" falls from above and makes that poof dust effect in Keynote that they sometimes use, and everyone has a good laugh at the expense of nearly every Android phone. You're exactly right that these are some kind of false plans to keep their competitors guessing.Sorry Apple, but it is definitely a "NO" if touch ID is on the back. I've used Android phones that are like that and it is a pain.
I'm hoping that Apple is just trying to flood the market with false specs of different variations to keep people guessing right up to the official announcement.
I'd love to see Tim Cook come out and show the fingerprint sensor working underneath a bezel-less display and say, "What? You didn't think we were going to put it on the back did you?"
They have another choice, drop the edition for this year and use the oleds for a 5.7 inch pro version of the iphone 7s plus. Smaller bezels and chins, same touchid /homebutton on a smaller chin, upgraded cams/socs, wireless charging , better waterproof rating.i'm sure this is one of their many ideas..they might have no choice but to put it on the back
Can you elaborate? I have no issue with using Touch ID when my 7 Plus is laying on my work desk.
Seems to me a sensor on the back is less convenient, since you have to pick up the phone every time to unlock it.
It'll be the recession for the inset stainless steel logo. No point making it a circle for the sake of it if it costs more or means there's less room for other components. Why can't they make the inside circle around the Apple logo neater?

Very true. However I trust Apple's long term vision, and I can't see that Touch ID on the back to compensate for no bezels is part of that vision.
You're right that 2017 is all about tiny bezels. But in some ways it's no different to previous years being all about touchscreen laptops, or flip phones before that, or phones that get smaller and smaller. Apple have been around long enough to see the ebb and flow of gimmicks, features, and the next 'new thing'.
I'm sure they will stick to their larger vision and maintain their discipline.![]()
I also have no problem with Touch ID on my 6+ when laying on my desk. True, if I was using just my thumb to unlock it would be a little uncomfortable, but that is why Apple lets you associate multiple fingers. I use my thumb when the phone is in my hand and my index finger on the desk. No issues at all.
And also many examples of excellent design, which still included compromises. The current design and placement of the home button/touchID is a set of compromises. You're absolutely right, way too many examples of bad design in Apple's history.
Oh well, the GS8 has it on the back next to the camera which is crap as well, but the phone is still very awesome. Let's hope Apple makes a better decision regarding TouchID placement.
Is there a reason to switch to vertical cameras or is that change simply for the sake of change? Honest question.
Totally agree...This is more likely to be a contact point for inductive charging than Touch ID.
