Nah, glass will always look better. The iPhone 4 is by far the most unique and beautiful iPhone design ever made.

nope, iphone 5s has the best design and its about aluminium and glass..so, i think both are top notch along side iphone 7 jet black

Except that we've seen a number of DIFFERENT schematics and leaks that look very different from each other.

The whole song and dance of getting worked up and disappointed over something that doesn't even exist yet has always baffled me.....

When the device comes out and it doesn't meet what you want/need, you have the right to be upset and subsequently not purchase. Until then, all the yelling and complaining is moot because its yelling and complaining about something that isn't REAL.
We haven' t seen any other leaks than this, just a few concepts and mockups, no real schematics.. other than this one.

Personally? I say delay the device until the in-screen TouchID tech is ready. I'll gladly wait. But if I had to pick from one of the above, I'd say give my a 7S that looks similar to what I have now. I love my 7 Plus, and the bezels really don't bother me.

I would have to say that would be my alternative.

Chances are that I will probably be getting the 7S. My pattern has been to get the "S" phones. You don't get the excitement of the new design, but you get everything polished and perfected. So I would suspect there could be an 8S with TouchID embedded in the display, if the 8 is released with it on the back. And I guess I would rather wait for that.

What drawings? Those that were made by an artist based on a desciption from a foxconn emoloyee? Which do you value most? A real professional looking schematics picture or a drawing based on an unverified source ?

True, they're not schematics, but the leaker has been accurate in the past.

Do you have a link to the schematics you're referring to?[/QUOTE]
What about the opening post? Look at the picture.

Thanks, i got the same the same comments the last 3 years, and we all know how that turned out.

Calling it now. Here's my guess:

iPhone 7S/7S+ (2017) - TouchID on the back
iPhone Edition (2017) - TouchID on the front under the display

iPhone 8 (2018) - TouchID on the front under the display

I don't like the idea of it being on the back, where I can't get at it without picking my phone up, but if it had to be on the back the middle feels like the best spot to me.

I want true wireless charging, an updated battery technology (either extremely fast charging or next-gen battery tech), full waterproofing, and included photo/video storage like Google Photos (which I use).

All of the things listed are a few years away, except for photo storage, which will likely never happen.

Reduced bezels are great, but I'm more excited for the next few years. If they can't get TouchID to work properly, I'll be keeping my iPhone 7...even though I can upgrade for free on T-Mobile's Jump On Demand.

Its pretty much confirmed e 2 iPhones are not getting any design change

The whole in the back is the new headphone jack. They got the idea from their bluetooth mouse.

If history is anything to go by, this could very well happen. Just remember what people said about the leaks of the iPhone 4 and its "ugly" seams, the two tone back of the iPhone 5, the "terrible" looking antenna lines on the iPhone 6, the "hideous" dual camera on the iPhone 7 Plus. Everyone here said that Apple would never make something like that and if they did, they would never buy it.... and they did make those phones and most eventually even loved it :)

If you think about it realistically, this is a prototype design in case Apple is not able to get the fingerprint reader behind the screen working in time. In my opinion, chances are pretty big they either can't get it working or can't mass produce it. In that case the only option would be putting it on the back, because on the front there's no room. Next year, the successor of this device could then get it behind to screen as it's big feature.

So if this really is happening, it will look something like this:

Also, just imagine this was fake. Why would someone who would fake it put the fingerprint scanner on the back? The ugliness and compromise of this schematic to me only makes it more real.

Why move it on the 7s/7s Plus models? Cant see there being any redesign at all on those models.

I don't think Apple would ever turn the Apple logo into a fingerprint sensor for the fake of people not getting smudges and fingerprints all over their precious logo.

Apple prepared us for the loss of headphone jack over a year. Why is this any different?

Why is it different? How is it in any way related would be a better question.

Losing legacy stuff like ODD/headphone jack always has a valid argument. Chucking Touch ID onto the back as that's the only way to satisfy some bezel-free lust is bleeding stupid.

Yeah if they move the sensor to the back I'll be skipping any upgrades until they figure out how to incorporate Touch ID into the front glass again. That design looks like straight up ass.

Ha... I called this like 2 years ago and everyone here called me an ******. Who's the ****** now?

And if you're going to put the Touch ID in the back, why not just make it the Apple Logo? It's there just wasting space... might as well just have it do something.

Could be it, but the top and bottom chin will be a little bigger according to the leaked drawings, at least a little bigger than the S8.
In this picture, they look smaller...

Shrink the design. Those bezels were embarrassing in 2015 never mind 2018. Anyway it's just a guess. I may make a few different ones on different threads and when the time comes link back to whichever one turned out to be true hah :D

I can promise you, Touch ID will not be on the back.

I don't want it on the back either, but think about how often you unlock your phone vs how much you use it. Do you want to sacrifice screen real estate for a button that only unlocks your phone? I hope the answer is no - that bezel space is a waste.

Sorry Apple, but it is definitely a "NO" if touch ID is on the back. I've used Android phones that are like that and it is a pain.

I'm hoping that Apple is just trying to flood the market with false specs of different variations to keep people guessing right up to the official announcement.

I'd love to see Tim Cook come out and show the fingerprint sensor working underneath a bezel-less display and say, "What? You didn't think we were going to put it on the back did you?"

But a rear protruding camera has been ok since the 6?

I'm still on the 5 and if I need to upgrade for iOS11 best believe I'm getting the SE before any iPhone with that hideous camera sticking out.

If users are complacent enough to buy an iPhone with that back pregnant camera I can see them being ok with a rear sensor ID.

(My guess if this doesn't actually happen [unlikely] it's because they want a full screen on the front and couldn't get the sensor to work well enough)

Classic Apple "Post-Jobs" product design

I agree that the bezels are embarrassing, the Note 4 had better screen to body ratio as did the LG G4, phones that are three years old now.

I don't see them reducing them on the lower end 7s models though, it would take away a big selling point of the higher end model.

Personally, I don't see an issue with a slightly taller iPhone. The button is useful and it would let them put in a slightly bigger battery.
