I'm actually a bit disapointed, it is true that the new display is amazing and the improvement of the camera is noteworthy but the number one reason I got rid of my ipad 2 was due to its weight and the new ipad is actually heavier. I'll wait until the smaller ipad comes out.

yes something weighing under 1.4 pounds is such a chore for me too. my one arm is like arnold's arm the other is so much smaller!! this is awful of apple to add almost 2 ounces!! f apple and their campaign against my arms!!

I still don't understand why it doesn't have an 8MP camera like the iPhone 4S. Makes no sense.

you might be waiting quite a while for a smaller iPad.

Are you a kitteh? :D

When iPad 2 came out, they weren't happy because it wasn't a retina display. Now that it's a retina display, they aren't happy because it's not quad core. Don't worry, they'll have something to complain about next time too.
Oh I don't doubt that. Trust me, I'm not nieve. It just makes me growl every time anyhow. :p

My retina can't wait for the new iPad!

you have two retinas, one in each eye:D

He could very well be a pirate with one eye. Or just a regular person with one eye :p

Waiting for Friday....

So another 2012 iPad is in the wild, while mine has been sitting at a Fed-Ex station in Pennsylvania for several days now on hold until final shipping on Friday. Why does Apple have to keep such a strangle hold on the release even for pre-orders?

So is it really that heavy for you?

EDIT: your sig! you have a 17" MBP and want an iPhone with a bigger screen. LOL

Wow you can't even post your honest opinion here anymore. I don't leave home with my 17in macbook, I have a 13in for that. And like it or not, it is hard to use an iPad lying down for an extended amount of time.

iPhone with a bigger screen = still much lighter than iPad doofus

Great to see in the video that the new iPad has the piss-yellow screen that Apple seem to be throwing at all their iOS devices!!!

I wonder if apps open a little faster.

Why would they? Supposedly the CPU is pretty much the same one as in the iPad 2, as far as specs go. If anything, apps will open a little slower, since it will take longer to load/process the higher-resolution assets.

I really wish they had done a comparison of the Mobile Internet load times comparing the 3G iPad vs. the 4G on the new iPad. I imagine that if you are in good range of a 4G LTE tower, the internet speeds on this new iPad should be incredible....this is really faster than a cable modem? I have a hard time believing that the iPad will be able to load data at over 2 megabytes per second but that would be incredible.

As it is, the 3G on my original iPad (2009 model) is pretty slow, so that is why I was wondering how the speed is on the new 4G LTE modem on the new iPad.

while I agree with you, I think he meant from watching the video that it looks slightly faster and was asking if anybody else had noticed the same thing.

wow! you might be the only one! even research in motion aren't happy with it!

I don't know anybody that is unhappy with their Playbook. It does everything I need it to do (ebook, movies and browsing) very well, sometimes better than the iPad.

The doubled RAM could make a small difference.

Oh. I didn't watch the video. The music put me off and I couldn't stomach watching a 360 pixel high video about a device that can put out 2k.

It's possible the 1GB of RAM in the new model allowed it to resume from cache quicker.

The iPad 2 screen looks better than the new iPad in the video at times. I'm sure thats not the case in person, but that video did the new retina screen no justice.

Does anyone know how the new iPad will handle older iPad apps?

Meaning are they gonna be blown up to to size or will they be a smaller box in the middle of the screen like when you use an iPhone app on the iPad?

Will there be some sort of filtering or anti-aliasing involved? Somewhat similar to how a Vita can do for old PSP games?

Or does everything that's not updated just look like ass mold?

Just curious if that's been discussed. Either way, my new iPad arrives Friday :D

They will be upscaled so blown to size. Recent comments suggest that it does not look too bad.

But besides that, no new filtering of any sort.

i think the iPad may sill be thinner than the iPhone, especially if it's where the bevel is. don't quote me but i think they just recently made a 5mp camera thin enough to fit so maybe the 8mp isn't yet?

Meh. Impressed but I'd rather see this tech in new displays rather than a small device. C'mon Apple, how about offering a top notch dedicated display line as you once did with 20", 23", 30" CCFL LCD's and not just a stripped down 27" iMac LED LCD? As it stands, I can barely get the cables on your current display to reach my Mac Pro. I can't even use the Thunderbolt 27" display on my current gen 5,1 Mac Pro as there isn't an option for Mac Pro users, but another new new iPad. Yeah.

You cann:eek:t be serious! LOL

So happy that Friday is almost here! :apple:
