Great to see in the video that the new iPad has the piss-yellow screen that Apple seem to be throwing at all their iOS devices!!!

Yup, it seems to be at certain view angles too. On my iPhone it's very yellow from one side, luckly not the regular viewing angle. My iPad 2 is cool all around.

Display is fine but app size?

I am hearing that App sizes for the new iPad chewing most of the available storage. If this is true there is no point in having 16 GB versions. Not sure how 32 will be sufficient if we have lots of high end apps such as iWork, iMovie, iPhoto etc...

I know this is generally a site for Apple-lovers, but to only pick out the positive elements of each review is a bit too biased for my liking.

Where's the reference to the fact apps are now going to be 2-3 times larger in size in order to upscale to retina-display level - even on an iPad 1 or 2?

Where's the repeated comments that Siri should be there?

Where's the reference - in pretty much every review - that this is just a better screen and essentially an iPad2S?

the new ipad and ipad 2 look nearly identical in the video. people wont know i have new ipad, so it's pointless upgrading

Yes of course because it's all about looks.

Meh. Impressed but I'd rather see this tech in new displays rather than a small device. C'mon Apple, how about offering a top notch dedicated display line as you once did with 20", 23", 30" CCFL LCD's and not just a stripped down 27" iMac LED LCD? As it stands, I can barely get the cables on your current display to reach my Mac Pro. I can't even use the Thunderbolt 27" display on my current gen 5,1 Mac Pro as there isn't an option for Mac Pro users, but another new new iPad. Yeah.
Just curious how many Mac Pro's were sold last quarter. It sure as heck wasn't 15M like the iPad. Apple's going to focus on the stuff that sells the most and makes them the most money.

This is an excellent point. I've only ever gotten the 16GB model, and find it has plenty of space for my needs. But with the Retina display and larger apps, I knew I would easily run out of room, so I went with the 32GB model.

I'm pretty sure the OP was being sarcastic. Apple products have always been viewed as status symbols by a lot of people.

Just curious as to how many desktop systems were needed to make the iOS App's used on those 15M worldwide sales.

Just because people are buying less expensive $499+ iPads doesn't negate the fact that desktop systems are needed to make the 25+ billion iOS app's sold. Consumer's may have a few hundred to spend on iPads and iPhones, but studio houses that have supported Apple for well over a decade have into the hundreds of thousands in resources to spend on license and system upgrades.

My point: there is money in both markets. It doesn't have to be one or the other, it can be both. With $80+ billion in cash reserves Apple can more than afford to revamp the desktop/professional market. It may not be the QUANTITY of consumers but the amount of cash businesses have to spend is certainly not irrelevant.

The fact is Apple is creating a need, just as Ive's stated, and marketing that need. The iPhone, iPad, iOS system has been pushed since day one, before it was even lucrative for Apple. Before that it was the iMac, eMac, PowerBook G4 ads with Jeff Goldberg and the professionals such as movie houses and photographers such as Annie Leibovitz who spent thousands on PowerMac G5's and 30" displays (my friend Rich was a producer with Vanity Fair, Annie at one time had at least $300k in Apple systems years ago for her shoots). That's a market Apple has neglected for the consumer market. The figures that show more iPad sales are reflective of Apple's marketing push in creating a need for them, it doesn't necessarily mean that desktop systems aren't in demand. Apple just doesn't care. Period.
