This next revision of the iPod touch is going to be brilliant. The face time aspect (if it has it) may make me want to buy one.

Most of the features of the iPhone 4 but I still get to use the original iPhone, awesome :D

I care to see leaks of the back plate not the front-this would show what material will be used on the back and what kind and if any camera would be used on the back, and if well see a volume rocker or individual buttons.

Don't cheap out on us Apple. Front and rear facing camera with 5MP and HD video or it's going to be a hard sell for me.

Yes, what this device needs is the ability to record video with a file size of 11 GB per hour. Absolutely. Where will they put the tripod mount?

The best news is that the new ipod touch comes with a can of soda (look at the picture carefully).

Don't get your hopes up too much on the camera. The iPod Touch is so thin that they may not be able to work it in at this time and I doubt they'll widen it specifically for the camera. HD is one thing, but you'll probably get quality from a 3MP camera which soundly defeats many other 5MP units in similar devices. The photo tests, one way or another, will be where the meat is.

Who cares about it being thin? I wouldn't mind iPhone 4 thickness if it means a rear-facing camera. Plus if its thicker, there's more volume which can allow for a larger battery. Assuming they put an A4 in it and have the retina display, that's gonna be suckin a bit of power which you need that battery for.

When the iPhone 4 is turned off, the LCD screen has a much darker look than any other iPad, iPhone or iPod. This iPod Touch LCD has a very similar colour, thus I conclude this is a retina display.

Sept 7 we will know if this is the real deal or not ;) thats when the next iPod update is

It was pushed back to Sept. 14th (rumored on this site)

But really if you open an iPad you will see that the frame has a spot for a facetime camera, Apple just didn't put it in there. xD now should i buy an iPhone 4 (although i have iPhone 3G) or the 4th gen iPod touch?

That was just a rumor. The space is actually filled with the ambient light sensor.

Can't believe no ones called FAKE yet but i think i will. The text on the strip that says Apple (c)2010 looks a wee bit funny to me. Notice how it curls up and the text still looks perfectly straight? And maybe it's just me but the same texts in both images doesn't look identical.

Honestly I don't give a damn on FaceTime or cameras... Just tell me it's a Retina Display! I need a HD device to test my games and can't affordably switch to iPhone 4 quite now...

Same here. I don't care if they up the price, though. Just give me that beautiful iPhone 4 camera in an iPod touch.

Are there any indications through these parts photos that the Touch is getting the new 5 MP iPhone 4 camera? I don't want the old and busted 3gs camera. Ugh.

I would not get my hopes up for a rear-facing camera. My theory is that they originally planned to have a rear-facing camera in the previous generation iPod Touch, but they scrapped at at the last minute b/c they knew they were going to need a front-facing camera for Facetime and there is not enough room internally to fit two cameras.

Not enough room for both? They go in different places. One goes in the middle the other goes off to the side. If they want to, Apple can make it fit. Im going to go and say that they will include it. iPod touches with 5MP cameras would be a great selling feature.

Also, a rear camera means they wouldn't have to disable the "switch camera" button in the FaceTime program. How do you show someone what you're looking at with FaceTime without a rear camera?

I won't believe it until it comes from a Vietnamese website...jk.

Any word on the resolution? Please let it be a retina display.

You better believe it will be retina. Apple wants to standardize the specs that are on their platform, that way developers don't need to target specific devices, but rather the whole audience. And having one product running retina and one product not running retina won't help to streamline things. They want all new apps to be retina, thus all new hardware will have retina displays.

I'm VERY curious to see what is going to happen with the iPad in this regard. Obviously, it would not be possible to get 300+ pixel density on a 10" screen, but perhaps a 7", so I'm really curious to see what happens with iPad. If they managed to cram an insane resolution on a 7" screen that would be a huge sell.

If I were in the business of making 2-3 generations of engineering samples, a thousand or so at a time, I might sell spare parts to foreign gray market parts dealers, as no more harmful to the market, than the many outright pirate parts.

It could be as simple as that. Furthermore the production parts could have differences which are real but not readily visible. It is also likely production runs 4 weeks or more into actual production have minor revisions.

Rocketman

I too want to see a rear cover. As for this new leaked front panel, I do believe that this one is a full production model, the earlier ones that were leaked and built in April 2010 were probably DVT models, or known as prototypes I believe.

Actually, I don't see the point of the iPod Touch. I'm not even sure of the utility of the iPad...
At, say, 300 bucks, I cannot see how people buys the Touch. For 200 more bucks you have a much larger iPad, or probably at a very similar price you'll have soon the iPad nano...

Too many similar products to track, for me.
