Another Next-Generation iPod Touch LCD and Front Panel Assembly Surfaces

I still remember how disappointed I was last year when I saw the iPod touch 3g didn't have a camera.

Here's what I want in order to ditch my iPod touch 1g: retina display and the same camera as the iPhone's. Couldn't care less about a front facing camera though.

I basically want an iPhone 4 without the telephone part. From the first day I saw the iPhone 1 I wished apple would make a device without the telephone part and Apple delivered just that in a few months later and I jizzed in my pants. Twice. Then bought it.

I just want apple to do the same again but with a camera this time. GPS would be nice but I can live without it.
 
FM is killer app

And to think that only a built-in "FM Tuner" would make me upgrade my 2G iTouch...

Well, you'll find out when the rest of us find out.

It's not like they preannounce new product to a special group of people (well, maybe a few journalists who sign NDAs and are embargoed). If your name isn't Walter Mossberg or David Pogue, you're not gonna learn anything ahead of anyone else.
 
Heh...all those people wanting 3g on the next touch? Where did you go?

Thank god...what a useless demand for a device opposite of the iphone...
 
Guess what guys? You'll know exactly what the next iPod Touch has in a few weeks when Steve Jobs unveils it. You know that don't you?

9.7 inches is not too big for over 5 million people. Umm, I am thinking 7 inch, or less, if the rim is properly crippled too, might be good for another 5 million people.

To be quite honest I'm sick of seeing all these prototype photos it kind of ruins the fun because we know what Apple is going to do with the touch to be like the iPhone 4. Although I am quite excited for the new iPod touch 4 or w/e. I have said it many times before I just don't think the current iPod touches offering much of anything. I'm sticking with my 1st generation for now we shall see how the new touch goes. If its not any good which I doubt it will be Ill have to find an alternative. :apple:
 
Maybe it's just me, but I don't get the "fun" of an electronic product being released. It's an MP3 player, not an episode of Lost :cool:

It's Apple. They release great products with great design.

You are, of course, going to get a the new iPod Touch, as I am. but after you get it why don't you send your Touch 1G into one of the many outfits that can replace the battery for you. You can replace the battery yourself the battery with the tool kit for your touch can be had for between 10 and 20 bucks, this is for a 900 mAh lithium Polymer battery and the tools to open your touch. You have to do a tiny amount of soldering to remove the old and install the new battery. I am a fairly good technician and I have the equipment to do the job but I mainly restore old ham radio gear vacuum tubes and such. But when it comes time to replace the battery in my Touch 2G I will send it here: http://www.digiexpress.us/ They have repair parts as well so if the phone jack is loose or what ever they can fix that too. They are a bunch cheaper then Apple's replacement service. $25 dollars plus the cost of the battery. For 50 bucks or so you can have a fresh battery installed. This sounds good to me. :)

It's not gonna get an iPhone 4 design don't worry! Because if they decided to mimic the design, it would be too close to the iphone, literally, all thats separates them is a phone, and Apple still wants to make sells on the iPhone so they have to make the new iPod Touch lack something other than the Phone feature.
 
Hey, I have the best proposition of all: Wait and see!. Speculation and assumption are pointless - they prove N_O_T_H_I_N_G.

It's not even that important OR exciting at all.
 
Does it have 'Retina' display or not?

Regardless of the leaks, when it comes down to it, we know what the ipod will have.

Retina display, 1-2 cameras, upgraded hard drive, upgraded ram.

Thats it.

Everyone will cry if the it doesn't have facetime, but they might not include it because they want people to buy phones instead and keep the products different enough. It will have at least one camera

Mate, im pretty sure it will have Facetime;

BECAUSE, Not only from the rumours and pics of the *NEW* Facetime that will include an e-mail feature (which enables non-phones; iPod Touches, call via e-mail addresses), but mainly because Steve Jobs clearly stated during the July 2010 Apple Keynote when talking about Facetime, he said that he wants to make this feature standard and that ten's of thousands of Facetime devices will be shipped by the end of 2010.

Now what he means by the ten's of thousands of Facetime Devices, obviously means a lot of products will be shipped with this feature. As we know the iPhone is the one of the only products by Apple which has Facetime included.

However, i highly doubt that tens of thousands iPhones will be sold by the end of 2010 when it has just been released, so my theory is that the new iPod Touch 4G will include Facetime to equal that ten's of thousands of Facetime devices that Steve Jobs reckons. :rolleyes:

iPod Touch 4G is also very likely to have a Retina Display as its now the standard for most games in the App Store and the iPod Touch is widely known not only for a great MP3 Player but a very good gaming system, so to keep the competition higher than all of other products, then they need to boost the Gaming aspect by adding a crisper 4x as many pixels as the normal display thus enhancing the gaming experience.

So from this my prediction of what the new iPod Touch will include, is as follows;

iPod Touch 4G 32GB

Retina Display
FaceTime
Front Facing Camera/Back Facing Camera (for use with FaceTime ONLY?)
New Design (NOT like the iPhone, but maybe more like the iPad's aluminium)
GyroScope
Multitasking
ect.

^^ Those features above will proberly be the features that are added to the current 3rd Generation iPod Touch.

I doubt you'll get front cams, back cams and r-display for $200. It'll probably be the for the $299 model. The $200 model will become the current $399 model most likely.
 
I would really love an FM transmitter for those times I wanna play a song and do not have the proper cord
