What about MBA if such tablet sees the light?
I mean, does the people here feel like a touch tablet will delete MBA from the scenario?

I envisage a (near-future) offer like this:
- MBP 17"
- MBP 15"
- MB 13"
- Touch/Tablet 10"
-iphone

No more MBA.

No  The MBA is a full Mac OS laptop, the tablet will be an oversized ipod touch, the 2 aren`t even close.

Two things may happen with the MBA:

1. Apple will finally realize the MBA is not an ultra-portable and make it smaller and lighter. Perhaps adding more ultra-portable light devices to the line like a tablet.

or

2. Apple will say F it slash the prices on the next revision of the MBA and make that their consumer line and then drop the MB. So we will only have MBA and MBP

No reason why they can't make affordable thin and light notebooks. Every other company is doing. The MBA is too expensive even for Apple standards. I understood the cost when it first came out because the hardware was new and custom. It's not anymore.

The whole point is you don't want the user interface of Mac OS.

No, I don't. I'm tired of seeing the same old font with the same, old traffic lights. Get me something that feels like I'm using a computer in the 21st century we're in and not something almost a decade old. And options, please. I'm equally tired of Apple not giving me some options to customize the way I work, not the way they want me to. Please! Not that Apple would ever listen though.

Ballmer could jump off a cliff and I wouldn't care. The guy has no credibility.

Yes, that's why I don't like the idea of him having a field day with a dumbed down OS X on an overgrown iPhone tablet.

I'm tired of Apple's gadgetmaking. I would like to see them continue developing OS X for Mac's, modernizing it's looks and so on. I have no use for a tablet, none. I have enough I have to carry around already.

Snow isn't about making it run better on Mac's, that's an added bonus and Apple masquerading the real cause, it's about getting OS X on to new stupid gadgets you don't need. Truly a sustainable development (or not!). They're neglecting the Mac side and that's not cool.

Can't be bothered to read what everyone else has said... All I'll say is that it would be brilliant, it would be so Apple, and if it doesn't come soon then it's not coming at all... These rumors only have credibility if they come just before a release. This source may have just heard that Apple is looking at developing a tablet, and that they would release this yet-to-be-developed product at WWDC 2010. They's have to wait for Snow Leopard (early 2010) - it wouldn't be worth developing software for Leopard if they had to overhaul it in a year...

If anyone at Apple is reading this, as I'm sure they are - PLEASE DO THIS... YOU HAVE TO DO THIS... DO IT IN JANUARY 2010!! PLEASE!!

What in HHSJ's name is portable about a 10" tablet anyway? An iPhone is a portable tablet as it fits right into your coat's inner pocket with no risks for the screen. A similar device with a screen up to 6" might still be considered portable for the same reason. But beyond that, where will you put your tablet for a trip without having your screen scratched all over or even cracked? You would need some super protecting sleeve in order to throw it safely into your rucksack, right? An extra keyboard maybe, too? Oh wait, wouldn't a 10" book with touchscreen be way more portable?

I totally agree.

There is though one little, teensy bit of technology which you haven't heard Apple mention which would fit perfectly with a tablet.

Voice Dictation.

Why type when you can just talk to it. :D

Hey, that would make the MacWheel usable wouldn't it? :)

Great Designs!!!:)
I agree that this might seem more resonable. The iPhone is great, but for some of the apps coming(NAV-GPS) it would be great to have a larger screen. Also to be a better method of using in the office for meetings etc instead of brining that lap top to the meting and to home everyday. I like the tablet approach, they need to be careful to keep it portable and simple. Just as they make it a large iPod touch and not a full lap top it will be a nice gap closer between the laptop and the iPhone
