Afterwhich I could not open any of my Apps and when I did try to reboot, my system hung on shutdown and after about 30 minutes I manually cut the machine off. When I booted the machine up all I get is the grey screen with the Apple logo and the spinning thinker thing. I let that sit there for another 30 minutes, and cut the machine off. Now each time I attempt to boot I get nowhere, just the Apple Logo and the spinning thing. This happend on both my iMac and my MacBook.
I'm currently trying to archive and install on the MacBook so we will see how that works.
So for now I'm stuck on a PC waiting for my Macs. I never thought I would be writing that.
Anyone have any ideas??

Could be that you have just experienced the Lower Memory Slot Failure (check the Apple website). Although nobody knows the real cause, it seems to crop up mostly after a software update. I sent mine in a while back to be fixed (Apple will do those in a certain serial number range for free (you get a new logic board), but it should include all of them). If it goes out again I will just use one slot and get a 1GB chip for it.ifjake said:i'm not sure when this happened, but i am just now first noticing that i lost one of my sticks of ram. i guess i'll run some diagnostics.
(G4 powerbook, by the way.)

I haven't noticed any problems yet (but I haven't tried everything yet). But after reading this I went to try the Time and Date settings, and the Preferences icon was no longer in my Dock. Now, I may have accidentally dragged it off at some point, but I know it was there earlier in the week.max_altitude said:Everything is fine on my PB, but on the Intel iMac, whenever I go into Time and Date settings I get the beach ball and System Prefs. stops responding.![]()
I dont have a MBP, but on my MacBook it seems to have completly gone (this may not be accurate as I am using MSN). Well, its not as loud as it was before. I can't hear it unless I press my head right against the laptop.benthewraith said:Did anyone with a MBP have their whine get worse?

One very strange thing I've noticed is that when I'm charging my battery on my MBP it doesn't seem to know when it's full! It gets to 100% charge and then just keeps saying "Calculating...until full" and the light on the charger never changes from amber to green.
This definitely didn't happen pre 10.4.7! I just hope that this isn't damaging my battery in any way.

Might try resetting the PMU.
