My ram used by programs went up a ton; about 50mb on startup alone. I've also had a ton more pageouts just using safari and itunes. I might go back to 10.4.6 because of this. BTW I have 512mb of ram.

My MacBook Pro has become much slower since the update. It is now taking double the time to launch any app, and some, including Camino, won't even load.

What the #$%^!?

I haven't noticed any issues at all. What I have noticed on my Intel macs is that it is a huge stability upgrade - I can now honestly say that my Intel macs are at least as stable as my PPC ones were, which wasn't true with 10.4.6 and earlier.

No problems at all on my G5 powermac. My roommate has been getting a lot of system hangup on her 1.83 Macbook tho. I think these intel macs just need some maturing time still.

OMG I have a serious problem. i have no idea what to do. so here I am using software update to auto update my computer. well all the sudden softeware update somehow manages to crash and I wasn't able to use the finder at all. so i ende dup doing a restart. now my problem is that everytime i try to install something or run software update they will crash. someone help please :'(

It screwed up Mail for me - the bar at the top of a message telling who it was sent from, attachments etc. is now really big with massive gaps in between the text, and it doesn't put that little red spot on the Mail icon in the dock when I get a new email.

Also rather irritatingly it changed my system font to something horrible. How can I change it back?

Poor Mini

Hello. Just got my Intel Mini back from getting the DVD drive replaced, ran SoftwareUpdate and installed 10.4.7. after the reboot everthing seemed fine until the Finder loaded. Not sure what is the correct term to use but the display now has a "negative" look to it. what are normaly white areas are black, anything blue is now orange. Kind of like looking at a old 35mm negative. Not sure what happend there but I tried reseting the PMU and PRAM with no luck. All the apps seem to work even Safari. First problem I ever had with an update. I am on my iBook while performing an A&I back to 10.4.5 on the Mini.

Also, Spotlight no longer works (Command-Space)

What the deal is?

I'm having the same problem. Also, my Safari prefs were slightly messed up. It changed my home page to gmail.google.com for some reason. Go figure.

Is anyone else having trouble with Spotlight?

Open up your system preferences and in the Universal access make sure the display is set to "Black on white"

It might be set to white on black which produces that..

Poor Mini

I feel like and idiot. The mini is just about finished reinstalling 10.4.5 and I find on the web a keyboard shortcut to make the display go to negative (for what reason I dont know). It is Ctrl+Apple+Option+8. Once the mini restarted to 10.4.5 the display was still negative so I tried the shortcut described above and the screen went back to normal. What can I say...

Safari lock up problems here :(
Safari works fine until the powerbook is woken from sleep. Then the safari window is unresponsive. Window can be closed and then new opened from the file menu.
Will try and reproduce on the iMac later.

omg the same with my mb. just out of bordom: 16 bounces for mail one day. and in 10.4.6 fire fox and messenger are opened before airport can properly pick up signal and now it opens after (not sure whether this is an accurate test)

i think the app load thing must have to do with overloading the computer with work... but i am not sure why? but it wasn't that sluggish before.

on the other hand 10.4.6 fixed my airport problem of dropping/ being slow/ not understanding that you still have to be online when it wakes up problem.

otherwise, 10.4.7 looks the same as 10.4.6 to me!

lets hope that rumour that 10.5. will be ultra efficient and will blow our worlds be true

Cannot reproduce the same problem on the Mac mini :(

Any ideas ?
