As of today, I do not reccommend you buy anything from the apple store. go to third party retailers and get an ipad before price increases.
I bought my IPad Pro 11” M5 at release date, upgrading from an M1. Hubby decided to wait (he also has an M1) but once I saw the price increase I went to John Lewis and got him a 256GB for £944. Happy with that as it beats the £1199 Apple want!

I'm an artist, and I've been planning to finally upgrade my 11" 2018 iPad Pro, but i just kept putting it off. Then I woke up Thursday morning to the news of the Apple price hikes. 😬 So i immediately drove down to Best Buy and I nabbed a 13" M5 iPad Pro with 512gb on sale. The sale was based on the old Apple price, so I got $400 off the new Apple Price. Not bad! 👍 I decided to go with the 13" model this time because last year I got an iPad mini 7 for when i wanna travel light, and I think those two sizes compliment each other better. Plus I also like the idea of having a little more drawing room. I still think the 11" is the perfect size tablet. Not too big. Not too small. Just right.Tablets were meant to be held. The M5 13" is VERY thin! But it's HUGE. So I'm curious how it'll compare. We'll see. I'm just glad I finally pulled the trigger and got it now before prices went up at all the 3rd party stores as well. A.I. demand for ram is only going to keep increasing, so I don't see prices coming back down anytime soon.

As the title asks, is there any reason not to pull the trigger on an iPad Pro M5?
Plenty of reasons
Don't need one
Don't have the money
Not worth the value for what you use it for
Don't want one

There's more but those are the reasons that came off the top of my head for reasons not to buy an iPad.

If any of those reasons are applicable to the OP.

I have an older 11" iPad pro and have been considering upgrading recently. I love the portability of the 11", but the wife picked up a 13" and it seems to fit my aging eyes better. I use the iPad mostly for reading, but also development verification.

There’s no realistic update nor rumors of one coming anytime soon, and the buyer’s guide is listed as neutral.

If full steam ahead, any thoughts on the Pro 11” M5 vs Pro 13” M5? I’ve held both and feel stuck in the middle on both. I would go with the 256gb storage option as I use iCloud and don’t have a massive amount of apps that I use.

Also of note, while I do not have a home laptop, I am not considering this as a laptop replacement, so I won’t be adding a keyboard/trackpad.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
next update isn't coming until 2027 and its only new chip and cooling chamber

They usually update the Pro's at a 18 month cycle so we are at the halfway point on the current model if you need it get it or wait 9 months and get the newest one but with ram and memory still going up I suspect another price bump.

No worries 😀

When I compare an iPhone Pro vs Pro Max, I am Pro Max all day long. It takes me a millisecond to know which size is right for me.

But I feel stuck between the 11” and 13”. If the 13” isn’t jumping out at me as the easy choice, that may be my answer.
I would get the 11 unless you want to use it as a laptop replacement. The bigger size is to bulky and I prefer smaller sizes anyways. If Samsung made the ultra phones smaller I would buy that over the current ones rn.

Better on my aging eyes was one of the reasons I went from the iPad mini to the 11" M5 Pro.

Personally I wouldn't have paid full MSRP for it even before the price hike. But I was extremely fortunate to have benefited from the Apple sale that Apple had in March of this year where both the 11 and 13 M5 iPad pros were $250 off at Best Buy. it was too good to pass up so I jumped on it right away and even the Pencil Pro was $50 off. Now with the price hike, I got an even better deal.

Now is a great time to buy.

Its a mature product, and the next one is probably about 6 months away
True but if they skip M6 and go M7 resale value will plummet.

I am in debate with myself M5 now or wait for the next.

I could wait don't know if I should

If you're not reaching technological limitations when it comes to compute then you really shouldn't be concerned.

I was having dinner at a friend's house yesterday and had a convo about a very similar thing. Whether its worth it or not to upgrade from her M4 13 Pro to the M5. I asked what does she do, and basically, just social media, browsing, drawing, etc, not much stuff that requires a beefy architecture on the user side. I asked about A.I use and she said "I asked siri to shut down my phone earlier, if that counts?"

As I explained, I strongly feel that if you're not making money with your device, and you dont need to beat a competitor at delivering something to turn a profit, then you can go a generation or two or three without upgrading.

I bought an IPP M5 13” a few months ago to use as a replacement for my iMac and MacBook, then gave my 11” iPad Air to my wife (along with the other 2 devices). It ended up being a great decision for me. I’ll occasionally help my wife with something on the 11” iPad and every time I’m reminded about happy I am choosing the 13”.
Father Guido should be gifted all Apple devices. He then can afford better smokes!

I ended up getting the 13 M5, heck it's a great device, I do not need to wait and there will always be something next.

No regrets and won't have as this is a long lasting device.

The m4 pro has the same gorgeous oled screen as the m5. If one is not hitting any limits on the m4 pro, my opinion is to stay with it.
Yes i’m keeping my base iPP M4 for the foreseeable future. When the iPad Air gets a Promotion display then i might upgrade to that later down the line.
