42 mm SG for 10 days now and it's really nice and haven't noticed and scratching or other issues. I am sure it will wear slowly just like the rest of my watches. I like the sport band once it's on my wrist. Getting it on the wrist takes a little getting used to.
It does take some getting used to. I have hairy wrists, so tucking the tail of the band is actually quite painful as it grabs the hairs. Of all the bands Apple could have done a better job designing the sport.
I own a 42mm SG Sport and am delighted with it. I didn't "cheap out" as money was in no way a part of my decision. In fact, I tried on the 42mm SS first with NO intent of purchasing the sport version, until I tried on the SG sport and immediately changed my mind as it was much lighter and the subtleness of the grey aluminum appealed to me over the intense shine of the SS. Fuethmore, I believe that the benefits of the sapphire face have been overblown. Add to the fact that the SS is a fingerprint magnet which attracts micro scratches easily. At the end of the day, it's a personal decision, nothing more. I have no regrets purchasing the sport over the SS.PHP:
Finaly, keep in mind that this will not become an heirloom that you will be passing down to your children. It is wearable tech first and jewelry second. A Rolex will do its intended job 20 years from now, the same can't be said about an Apple Watch...
Ditto, but that's to be expected with rubber products. Still very comfy and lightweight.
Except that it could have easily been avoided by tucking the tail on the outside of the band, or using magnets like the leather/milanese loop bands. Not a huge complaint, but it is an avoidable problem.
Again, true, but Apple would then start charging $100 instead of $50.![]()

Money was never an issue. So I didn't "cheap out"
My reasons for going with the space grey sport is that I didn't like the shiny SS. And I loved the look of the space grey. And finally as a golfer. The lighter watch was better for me. If I wore watches regularly I guess it wouldn't make a difference. But I wore the original pebble for 2 years. And as soon as I tried the SS. I felt the weight difference.
For the dress up occasions. I would love to wear the space black SS. But I just can't justify paying $1100 for a watch that will be outdated probably in a year or two.
At the end. It was all about personal taste. So people need to stop saying that sport version is "cheap out"

But tucking the tail on the outside would defeat the purpose of being the sport band. The reason why they tucked it is because like the classic buckle. The tail always tend to come out of the loop which can be annoying when you're playing a sport.
So like many others I'm still waiting for my SG sports watch.
The wait and regular visits to the Apple Store has got me thinking I may as well upgrade to the SS version.
Has anybody who has received their Sport model regretted not paying the extra for the SS watch and if so why?
Cheers in advance for any help!

That's funny, the watch I was wearing when I tried on a SS in store was way heavier than the SS and I was surprised by how light it seemed. But I wasn't comparing it to a Pebble, so I'm sure it must have seemed significant. Also, the watch I was wearing was in no way one that could be worn for an active lifestyle, it just happened to be what I was wearing that night.
That being said, I love the sport and I don't think it's "cheating out" either. I think it looks great. I think it's grown on me to the point that I prefer it to the SS.
I'm glad that the Sports owners are happy with their choice
For me the minimum a watch has to have is stainless steel and sapphire screen
I've been too spoilt with quality watches
