i´m week 2 on my BTO rMBP, with LG, built on week 41, all looks crisp and fine! No IR, no tint, no bleed. Keeping my fingers crossed

I'm getting another replacement, my logicboard had a few too short pins and the case clicks whenever you hold it or when you have it on your lap while typing, really annoying.

I really hope that this sixth replacement will have a samsung display too,.. The last one had a perfect screen the ones before that had several big problems. :(

Perfect here, whiter than a washing powder, no IR, no dead pixels. Bought day after launch. Almost too bright if anything.

I just want to note that my LG screen which used to be quite good has degraded quite a bit. Now it develops IR within seconds, and it can persist for minutes. The more severe IR is visible on non-solid backgrounds.

Completely unacceptable. I will take this thing to the Apple store as soon as I'm done with my finals.

Like I said in other forums it take about 3-4 months to see the IR issues with the LG panels...

I concur with this statement. Several LG televisions and computer displays I have owned have developed IR issues and/or pixel static after several months. Generally LG customer service was good but plucking a 50'' Plasma off the wall and sending displays away for repair is annoying. LG produces some stellar products but I feel struggles to mass produce.

My advice not to accept an LG panel, even if it looks good, to save heartache in the future.

It's funny how a couple of months ago, a lot of the anti-LG crowd were saying "2-3 months", but now this has been increased because there are plenty of people with LGs who are still saying "no problems here". As we enter the new year, I fully expect to start hearing "it takes 5-6 months for retention to appear".

I am not anti-ANYTHING I am just saying from all the ppl who have an LG panel seem to experience this either day one or sometimes 2/3-4 months. It all depends on the usage of that individual. Some are on it more then others.

Anyhow you look at it the IR is there, but some don't care and others don't even know its there until they come on to MACRUMORS. I have a very detailed eye for imperfections on a $4000 laptop. For some they specify do not care and live it. Not me!

It doesn't take 3-4 months for IR issues to show up. It depends on your usage and what you actually do on screen. If all do is surf the Internet and watch YouTube videos all day you probably wont notice since you obviously have to have something static on the screen for a bit before IR shows up. I use mine for actual work and have an external monitor attached. Most of my work is done on the external which means the RMBP screen has time to burn in whatever is being displayed and ghosting appears quite easily. This obviously affects all LG screens, it's just the few people in denial (same people who claim there's no lag issues whatsoever) that for some reason just can't admit when they're wrong.

My use has been more or less constant since I bought the laptop. If anything, during my first couple months of ownership I ran applications with larger static elements. In the beginning, there may have been some IR, but it would require me to keep the display on a high-contrast image for several minutes and then quickly flip to a gray background to see a very faint outline. If it stayed like this, I wouldn't care.

But now it's such that simply anything that's static for a minute or two will end up being retained. Anything that's static for extended periods of time will leave a very strong impression.

Contrary to your belief, you're not the single smartest person in the world, and not everything is exactly as you say it is. The real world doesn't revolve around your thoughts.

BTW - the lag is a nonissue. It's very minor (especially with the newer updates), and it's not indicative of an actual performance issue. I'm convinced it's an animation bug. Any real tests of performance (for example encoding video or rendering 3d scenes) is no slower on the rMBP than any other laptop with comparable specifications.

Honestly I'd say it was always there, but it's only recently that it's degraded to the point where I can replicate it with normal use. Before I would have to put up a checkerboard pattern for 15+ minutes.

I'm curious.

How many people came here after they noticed something and discovered that this is a common issue?

And how many people first read all the reviews that included these threads, and bought one anticipating that there might be an issue?
