Today my replacement rMBP (2.7Ghz./16gb./764gb.) came in. Let me start by saying it is funny how the mental state mindset tricks you and how we get biased by what we think.
When I start up my macbook, I was blown away by the perfect and egal white. My former macbook retina (with Samsung screen) had a slight purple tint on the white and appears to be a bit harsh and cold on the eyes at times. I was convinced since this screen looks so good it must be the samsung! Then when I saw the Galaxy wallpaper, I saw more details in it which I've never seen before on my former MacBook Pro Retina. So already sure this must be the Samsung, time to check the Termianl comand.

what!!!!!! No way this could be an LG!! but it is. I stated before on other topics (when I had the Samsung screen) that I always felt the LG screen has better contrast and whites, and now owning an LG myself it is confirmed. Little details like the texture in the gray array from the Safari Tab Browser on the top shows up I have also never seen before.
Also I get less eye strain and headache with this "calmer" screen.
the LG AH-IPS are superior screens and therfore used in many professional monitors. There is one downside though. I have to give more brightness to gain the same brightness level as the Samsung. But that is the only downside I can find. The LG looks more natrual to my eyes then my former Samsung.
However I don't ingore the IR complaints and I will keep a very close eye on this the coming 14 days. Since I do CAD design work, there will be a static toolbar in the screen instantly. It is a good real life daily use test. I will check regulary on a white background for any IR.
Further. My replacement finally has a good aligned bottom plate with not creaking, flexing and cracking.
However as usual with Apple product, there isn't a "perfect" machine. And you gain some good points at the loss of other points. Unfortunately the machine came with the trackpad a bit missaligned on the right side. However as OCD as I am, I don't going to return the machine for this. The fact and problem is, I have work to do. I have sold my former 17" cMBP and all I had left was my 11" MBA. It was a **** to do serious design work on this (other wise perfect and very capable) machine.
However if I sense any point of IR then it will go back in a heartbeat.
So far I love the quality of this LG screen. Godthank no dead pixels and no lightbleed. (My former Samsung rMBP had dead pixels. Just occur after 10 days).
I don't know anything about the recent serial numbers and/or code. Can you guys tell me if I have the "latest" LG?
Conclusion. If there is no IR on your LG screen isn't in any way inferior to the Samsung. I might even dare to say the AH-LPS is better in contrast and whites then the Samsung LPS.
