Any “X” people regret not ordering the 8?

I pretty much view the 8/8+ as the last upgrade of outdated tech. It would be like buying last years car model, driving it off the lot and suddenly realizing you just invested in a brand new vehicle carrying at least two years’ worth of depreciation.

If you are going to buy new, buy the new one.

Reading news reports.....looks like many Apple customers view this the same.

I disagree. I just paid $950 for my 8 Plus 256GB and i've could have easily put another $50 to jump on the X vagon.
Yeah I would have gotten the 64GB one with only $999 but i could live with that.

I did not buy the X becuase all of Apple's new products this year broke on me :

a) Airpods - Right pod was dead in the first 48 hours, had to sent them back and wait again.
b) Macbook Pro TouchBar 15" - The taptic engine in the trackpad broke. I have no haptic feedback and the right side of the trackpad has stopped working. Also the computer makes sounds like something is loose inside, and that is the taptic engine.

So I played it safe. Bought the 8 Plus with max capacity. I did not want to be a beta tester for Apple's FaceID and first OLED screen on a phone.

The 8 Plus has pretty much identical specs like the X, except dual OIS and Front Portrait Mode.
But it's the safest phone to buy. Future proof specs, reliable design.

If the X is great, I can always get the new OLED model the next year.

That’s because we’re stuck with a 2014 chassis with huge bezels. The iPhone 8 is the 4th iteration of the iPhone 6... even the iPhone 5 hasn’t been rehashed as much as this. I don’t agree with the price considering the distinct lack of innovation. Rather than paying £699 the price should be inline with the 6S when it was first released. I won’t be buying the X at £999 so I’m looking at this, but as a 6S owner it’s a really hard sell.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the standard LCD screen on the iPhone 8 is also unacceptable considering the S8 has an OLED and is cheaper in price. I’ll probably still get the iPhone 8 later on this year but I just feel as though I’m getting ripped off by Apple.

Nope. Nobody knows for sure if there are "issues" like you say. I'd imagine if you order in the first 15 minutes, you'll get one. Same as most years. Plus, the 8 is not much different than my 7 plus.

The 6S looked like the 6, the 7 looked like the 6s and 6 why stop now? If anything the 8 is the furthest departure from all three of those since it's rocking glass back now.

I don't think anyone can answer this outside of Apple.

It's possible delays could persist into 2018. The 4S, which was also launched in October, was iffy on supply until February.

No point in worrying about it now though.

You guys won’t get the X until March/April unless you’re lucky during Pre-order. My mother in law works for Apple. Also, there’s a better version coming next year so I got the 8 Plus until next year September ☺️

I made an account here JUST to reply to you. 1. Your mother in law may work at an Apple retail store... they don’t know anything about supply chains for unreleased products. Don’t overinflate yourself, buddy.
2. Stop justifying your four-year old “brand new phone” purchase when you could have literally spent $200 more for the latest and greatest (or $8-$10 more a month on AUP)
3. Shouldn’t mommy-in-law get you a discount anyways??? She is so high up at Apple...
4. Let’s face it- one report dropped about production delays- same as every year for the flagship phone

Nope not at all! If I end up not being able to get an X until next year, which I don't think will be the case but who knows, then I can always just go buy an 8! Actually if you buy from Verizon online you get a 30 day return period so I might just order an 8 in a couple weeks just in case and then return it if I get an X on time

You can’t buy 100 iPhone Xs because, as your mother in law already stated, there’s limited stock therefore you’d be lucky to even get one this year.

I’m waiting on the X, and I will definitely do the pre-order on 10/27. If the wait is longer than I thought (like over a month or more for delivery), and my 6S+ battery issue gets worse, I would just buy an used 7+ as a stop gap phone for less than $500 while waiting for my X to be delivered. I think I’m gonna skip on the 8.

I’ll be going for the iPhone 8 also but that’s because I refuse to pay £999 for the X which is the same price as an 8 AND an SE (it’s objectively not worth the cost of 2 competent phones). I also dislike the lack of fingerprint scanner and have no interest in facial recognition.

the 8 and X. I’m glad apple did it that way. Those who had no interest in the X would go for the 8.

The X to me actually looks like a flagship 2017 phone and a worthy upgrade to even the 8 or 8 plus in my opinion.
