I’ll be honest, after seeing how positive the reviews have been, and the beautiful colors, and the pictures taken from the XR, I’m starting to contemplate upgrading to the XR. I know it sounds insane, but I had my doubts at first but they were all proven wrong after seeing professional and average user reviews on it. Anyone else feel the same way, or am I just crazy?

Yes. That LCD screen is horrible. Not horrible in the sense it’s bad because it’s not but the resolution and the fact it’s an LCD screen makes it a no no for me. It’s good enough to be fine for the average user but OLED is the way to go?

So you are not an "average user" because you use OLED?

hahaha

For me, X/XS is better in size , but the eyestrain made me go for XR...

So I’ve had some time with the Xr coming from a max.
It’s a great phone. It’s super fast (less pixels to push) the screen is sharp and vibrant. If you can get past the thicker bezel it’s a great phone.

Also I didn’t have a lot of reception problems with my Max but my XR just blew it away with almost double the download speed. 190+.

I currently have the X now and have never contemplated on upgrading to the XR. Even after seeing the reviews and playing with it at an Apple Store yesterday, I can not downgrade my screen to an LCD now. Yes it have some qualities that are better than an X, but if I’m going to pay $750+ for a phone, I might as well buy the XS Max, which is what I would rather upgrade to.

Some features are an upgrade and some other are a downgrade. To me, having an X, the downgrades are more than the upgrades. I can’t stand to an LCD screen anymore or get rid of 3D Touch. If you don’t mind about these, XR is an upgrade.

If you have not yet upgraded from iPhone X to iPhone X’s or XS Max, then it will be silly to upgrade to iPhone Xr.

You will be better of waiting for the next iPhone

I stopped by the Apple Store while I was at the mall to check out the XR. It is a nice phone, but I have no desire to switch to it. I’m perfectly happy with my XS.

Returned my Max for XR. I put my Max next to the XR with both their screen setup the same. I didn’t see a huge difference between the screens. The OLED had slightly better blacks and depth but, not an in your face difference. I’m completely satisfied with the XR.

The screen looks really good. Had 8+ and now have. XS. I would have no issues with the screen. Text looks very good. True Tone looked better on XR than my XS.

Thanks for the opinion guys! You are right, it’ll be hard to get rid of OLED now since I’ve been using it for a year. Guess I got influenced a bit, haha!

Xr doesn’t interest me at all. My X has been an absolute pleasure for almost a year and even has me on the fence about turning it in to upgrade to the Xs in December per IUP.

My friend had a iPhone xs he had to switch to the iPhone XR because the oled screen shattered and he didn’t have enough money to get it fixed so he bought a XR and he says that that he misses the way the screen was on the iPhone Xs but he loves that if he broke the screen in it again he would be able to buy a cheaper screen

Swapped my XS Max to XR Tuesday. Had the X since launch day last year. Great phones, but my eyes just can't handle the PWM. Also the reception on my XS Max was blah. Having both the XS Max and the XR side by side, yeah the colors were a little brighter and vibrant, text was a tad smoother, but nothing to be like OMG! Loving the XR and loving not having eye strain any longer while using...

“For the average user” so what you’re trying to say is that you’re better than us average users, because you have an OLED screen? I can’t lol. Some of you really need to get a grip

The facts are the differences that some are trying to make such a big deal about (screen, bigger bezels, etc) aren’t really that big or noticeable. Some just like throwing it around that they have the “better” phone and are above the “budget” version.

I have the x and bought the xr for my partner. Tried it out for a few days with the intention of maybe getting one for myself. The screen/speed/size was fine, it was the bezels, they were kind of cartoony to me. The phone (aesthetics) was lacking not the phone innards. My partner is coming from an 8plus and just loves the xr, it’s the perfect 8plus follow up phone. There’s a phone for everyone.

No shot. Happy with everything about my X for once and have no itch to do a yearly upgrade for the first time since iPhone 6.

If I was coming from an 8+, then I'd possibly go XR, but to me going from a X to a XR like phone is seen as a downgrade.

YMMV.

I viewed the XS, XS Max and XR next to each other; I would choose purely based on which size you prefer.

I couldn't see any difference in picture quality and anyone who says differently is either nitpicking or lying. Seriously, just take a look at a recent video from TLDToday on YouTube who did a blind test between XR and the Pocophone (OLED).

Have XS, considering returning for XR. If XR is ‘small enough’ it might work. I have compared them exhaustively and at this point all I can do is buy an XR to determine for sure. I hate to do the Buy/Return thing.. but it’s hard not to as I will be using the phone for at least a year.
