There, fixed that for ya!
Haha!! No longer thinking that anymore! Used my iPhone X in the dark with dark mode and realized how gorgeous OLED really is

Ok, but there are people that are on here that are interested in the XR so I’d consider this phone for more than the average user. Not everyone loves OLED screens. It’s personal preference.
Honestly who cares? Lol- this argument is so overdone about OLED. I prefer LCD and am much happier with my XR at least for my eyes after coming from X (and trying Xs MAX). Oh, and it's my money being spent so yes- personal preference outweighs superiority any day.Oled is still superior. Personal preference or not

For those who love OLED that's great too, enjoy! Having a choice is a good thing.![]()
You can buy and prefer what you want but oled is still better
The only aspect that’s better is the contrast ratio and it’s ability to show pure black.
Problems that the iPhone OLED has, to varying severities: colour-shift, PWM flicker, PenTile subpixel layout (greatly undermines the 458 ppi), burn-in (inevitable if the phone is kept for years or used heavily), overly-yellow TrueTone and tint in general, and a slight ‘fuzz’ when showing white (related to PenTile).
Of course, many people aren’t bothered by the above and that’s fine. Personally, I feel that OLED makes too many compromises, especially for the price, and feels like a stop-gap until microLED inevitably replaces it.
Pwm- meh
Pen tile - who cares
Burn in- none of my countless Samsung phones or my X has burn in ever
True Tone sucks on any device iPads included
Fuzz - what fuzz
Oled is superior period. Better blacks and better colors along with better contrast as well. Lcd is inferior in every way period

It just doesn't matter that much in real life. I have both, and I've switched back and forth between Samsung Galaxy (SAMOLED) devices and an iPhone (LCD), and it's just not that big of a deal. It's certainly noticeable in certain use cases, but it doesn't affect the UX, and wouldn't affect my decision to buy a phone or not.
An interesting write up. Not the usual write up.

... period. Better ... better ... better ... period
You are using facts to debate emotion. Noticed they didn’t blow off the color-shift.I don’t understand why you’re so hung up on convincing people not comvunced OLED is the best
Pwm is a big deal to some they can’t look at it
As is tint shift / uniformity on average
As is subpixel layout being less ppi than advertised so people don’t care about resolution
I agree with you
I think burn in concerns are overblown, tho
But the added width size and scaling add to the appeal of Xr as well. And True Tone that isn’t nasty most of the time
Different strokes. Why is that a big deal? Your x/xs/max isn’t crap just because people like the Xr
Yes. That LCD screen is horrible. Not horrible in the sense it’s bad because it’s not but the resolution and the fact it’s an LCD screen makes it a no no for me. It’s good enough to be fine for the average user but OLED is the way to go?
Actually, yes. Not constantly, but certainly much more often than X. The auto brightness learns though, does it not? Maybe in time it will get better?Went from X to XR. Been happy with the XR and lowered monthly payment plan around $20 per month. Once thing I notice with the XR is I seem to constantly adjust brightness. With the X, I rarely needed to do this. Anyone else noticed this?
When it’s dark, screen is dark and not usable. I don’t know if it learns since I am going to turn off auto brightness. This does not happen on my iPad 10.5 with auto brightness on.
Try to raise the brightness manually once when it does that, it should "stick" and not go so dark next time. Others have said the auto brightness learns after what you set it to, so maybe that will fix it. Basically you're telling the phone what the lowest/darkest setting you like without having to turn off auto brightness. When it’s dark, screen is dark and not usable. I don’t know if it learns since I am going to turn off auto brightness. This does not happen on my iPad 10.5 with auto brightness on.
Same here.Mine has learned from the point I set the brightness level in my bedroom at night. I didn't like it as dim as it would get so I changed it and it has remember ever since without issue.
It does and that’s the only reason why I have an iPhone. Otherwise I would of kept my Note 8 which has a superior screen to any lcd iPhone
