hi

hi date given to me is 17 but i cant wait :O) , before date and before i see any mail any chances of getting phone unlocked ?

I just got off the phone with AT&T to unlock a warranty-replaced 3GS I got yesterday at the Apple Store. It has no SIM and no account record with ATT I assume. They said it qualified and that they'd filed a case.

Most stories I heard involve ATT/Apple pushing an email to the phone, but the rep told me they'd call me back (within 7-10 days) and that they would give the code to me. What I want to know is how exactly does the phone get unlocked? Do we enter the code, or does the email or whatever magically do something to the phone? I would think my phone is incapable of getting an email from Apple or ATT since I didnt give my address to them.

no code to enter. ATT submits IMEI of your iphone to Apple and apple adds it to its servers. Once you restore, your iphone talks to apple server and magic happens

Generally if you talk to At&t rep, they will ask for your imei number, given that if you do provide the number, once the request is complete and you get the email then simply connect your 3gs to itunes, back up and restore. Once that is done your 3gs should he unlocked.

Twenty?

If I thought for a second you could speed up the process I'd paypal you a twin no problem. Right now I'm on the wait for the 17th, and it sucks. lol.

I'm just kidding guys:)
It's so simple and easy anyone can do it.
If you get a rep that's not willing to help you can try again.
I already unlocked 3 iPhones with my AT&T account and I think they put a limit of 5 unlocks per line per year.

Per line or per account?

Hmm they said "Here at warranty we cannot unlock iphones, you must call customer service"

they said the same thing with me.

i request the unlock on thursday morningm they said on day 20 i would receive an email...but i am afraid that they type it wrong...

I'm not 100% but I think per line.

i think they have changed the policy now. You need to be an active subscriber for the unlock to be processed. All those who have have been given resolution dates is just a run around. I was given a resolution date of today and i haven't seen anything coming till yet

I personally never used that link when I did my unlock but I figured it was worth a shot to let others try and see if it would work. Oh well back to the original.

Using the first link I still hear people getting unlocks so I do not think you are forced to have an account. It just depends on the rep.

Got my AT&T confirmation email late Friday. I did a restore and it is indeed unlocked (verified with a T-Mo SIM). Not that it really matters, but I never got the "Congratulations, your iPhone is unlocked" message in iTunes. Nevertheless, it is unlocked. :D

The best way to get your iPhone unlocked is using the AT&T business account link that was posted a few pages back. They email the unlock email instantly after you're done talking to them. I found that doing it through my AT&T account takes FOREVER for the request to go through. It's better to say you're a non-AT&T customer.

If you're a non AT&T customer. Just put in whatever information you want that is required. In the brief description box, say that you're a non-AT&T customer and you want to get your iPhone unlocked. Provide the IMEI. If you're eligible, they will unlock it without any questions and you'll receive an email shortly after. In one situation, the representative asked me where I got the phone. I told her craigslist and that was it, she unlocked it still.

i have been waiting for them to repsond since almost 2 hours:/ no one has responded itll yet! how long did u wait??

That chat link was answered with minutes and the whole chat experience took about 10 minutes for me. If they never answer they might be out for the day or something, but the chat worked very well for me. Better than calling in.

Completing Authorized iPhone Unlock
Ineligibility Service Commitment
Ineligibility Maximum Unlocks
Ineligibility Past Due
Ineligibility Lost Stolen

ANY ONE else had this email with all the files and the device got unlocked succesfully? moreover the rep said that the instructions have been forwarded and ur device has been unlocked!!! i think i have to check the device if its unlocked or not!
