i have been waiting for them to repsond since almost 2 hours:/ no one has responded itll yet! how long did u wait??

The wait can suck sometimes, I'm currently trying to unlock a friend's iPhone right now and I've been waiting since 1:40pm CST. They definitely do not have enough representatives for the business department.

----------

they just responded me! but the problem is they have sent me all the files in the email which includes

Completing Authorized iPhone Unlock
Ineligibility Service Commitment
Ineligibility Maximum Unlocks
Ineligibility Past Due
Ineligibility Lost Stolen

ANY ONE else had this email with all the files and the device got unlocked succesfully? moreover the rep said that the instructions have been forwarded and ur device has been unlocked!!! i think i have to check the device if its unlocked or not!

The email doesn't really matter really. In the talk with them, did they tell you that they were gonna unlock it? If so, just do a restore or use SAM prefs to check if your phone is unlocked.

Did you ask for information? Sounds like they sent you everything they had. All I got was the Completing Authorized iPhone Unlock one which I posted.

Should simply ask to get iPhone with IMEI xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx unlocked in chat, that's all I did. I gave them my phone number too and they noted that it was a go phone number, I responded yes it is a iPhone on the Go Phone plan. They had no followup questions to that though. :D

Iphone 4 unlocked without receiving att mail

i will not upgrade but what i was able to use that also i am stuck , what i can only see is that itunes screen and if i slide then num pad saying Emergency call

i want to use my phone as normal which i was using till now ..

I was told to wait till the 18th; I did not receive the at&t mail. I just tried my luck in restoring my iphone4 and what do you know? I got the congratulations message. Now my iphone 4 is unlocked, and I still havent gotten the email from At&t... My disclaimer here is that if you are jailbroken and use you gevey sim, I cannot assure you that your phone would already have been unlocked. I did not have anything to lose, that's why I tried my luck. Good luck to those of you still waiting.

I tried both the chat on the at&t website and the link provided here which was

https://sales.liveperson.net/hc/518...9414-4968849462561541403K8905615&postChatURL=

However, both representatives stated I need to fax them proof that the phone was purchased at full retail, no commitment pricing. Anyone else experience this?

I live in Mexico now and received an iPhone 4S from somebody in the U.S. After 5 calls, talking to different representetives which all gave me different stories such as: it is not eligible for unlock, the account is not in good standing, you need to send proof of payment or a letter stating the person sold it to you. After 4 days from when I first called them I've received an email that the phone is unlocked. Only thing is I kept trying telling them I own the phone and I paid for it.

Happy iPhone 4S owner.

When did you put in your request?

Don't do the online chat thing. Call AT&T directly and they'll do it ASAP(I got unlock right after I got off phone). One question tho. The AT&T tech help said that once I restore, and get unlock message(which I did) I have to click set up as new iPhone instead of restoring from previous backup. She said if I restore from previous backups I will lose my unlock. Is that true???

You cant.
Find or borrow a Tmobile sim.
Once it says congrats your iPhone is unlocked it is confirmed I am using my iPhone 4 now in Montreal on Fido and first it was like we want your purchase receipt but I did not have any buy my IMEI was registered from the beginning once receiving the rejection email that was posted to wrong email address the phone operator from AT&T told me u have to fax all your details again but I had already updated to 4.12 anyways yesterday I just for the heck of it restored again without. Receiving any mails as it was already updated and it Voilla congrats ur iPhone has been unlocked cut my sim at its on Fido now after a long time my iPod is back being a iPhone sufferers quite a lot I pray for all iPhones

Not for me it wasn't. Just the restore and subsequent activation is necessary. Anyway the unlock/activation happens before you set the phone up as new or as a backup.

Right. She said if I restore from the "locked iphone" backup to my just unlocked iPhone will yield a locked iPhone once restore is complete. Is that true? She just said to set up as new iPhone once I get unlock message on screen.

Don't think it would why would it matter if the imei gets on the unlock list. Don't think simply restoring from a backup will get it off the list.

Update on my 4s: I received my email confirming that it's eligible for the unlock this morning. I'll restore when I get home tonight.

Was yours still on contract? Tried with the 4s on my account but it was a no go. They said I had to wait until Nov 2013.

That is correct, if you are still under contract with that particular device, that device cannot be unlocked until you fulfill that contract. As per what AT&T stated that they can unlock iphones to those who are in good standing, is out of contract. In this case, if you upgraded to an iPhone 4S and is locked into contract, that cannot be unlocked. As rep said, you will have to wait till Nov. 2013 to unlock your current iphone.

This is the part that just doesn't make sense to me. They will unlock it if I pay the ETF or if the contract is up, but not before. What I don't get is if I pay the ETF they get my money, if wait until the contract is up, they get my money. So, why not just unlock it? Either way they get paid. I'm going to be in Europe this summer and would LOVE to get my 4S unlocked so I can use a pre-paid SIM while I am there. Frustrating......

In fact, if you do pay ETF but with Good standing prior to the ETF they should be able to unlock it. They just can't unlock it if you are under the contract. Not sure why they don't but it's their policy.

If I am not mistaken once you pay the ETF you are then eligible to get another locked phone at a discount also, setting you up to get whatever apple releases later this year.

They don't want to unlock it so you can use it in europe because they know they can get some pretty big dollars off you due to the carrier contract YOU agreed to.

Anyway baby steps, they just went from not allowing any unlock at all for years to granting plenty for off contract phones.

Also you can get unlocked phones direct for quite a while now as well, go get one and stop complaining about the difference in price between a subsidized phone and the full price unlocked one. Apple is the one with the huge profit margin on the phone, not the carrier.

My feelings exactly. But I guess we can't complain too much as at least AT&T has taken a step forward.

My AT&T unlock took about 15 mins.

Got my 4 and a half month old iphone 4 factory unlocked by AT&T yesterday:). I was previously using a gevey sim.

Very easy process for me. I think it's best u replace the iphone you want to unlock with another phone BEFORE u request the unlock if you're currently using it and it's still in contract. (Just give them an IMEI of a different phone). Then hang up from that agent and call back and request the unlock for an iphone.

I'm on a family plan so i called on behalf of the line that was eligible for an upgrade and not the one i got the iphone 4 on (which wasn't eligible for upgrade obviously). I told the lady i wanted to unlock an iphone and she put me on hold to see if i was "eligible". She came back and said i was eligible but then i realized that she was thinking i wanted to unlock the 3GS that was currently being used on that line (which was purchased from ebay). I told her no i have the IMEI of the iphone i wanted to unlock and gave her the IMEI of my iphone 4. She put me on a hold for a little while longer and came back and asked me if i bought the iphone 4 on contract (which i did) i told her it was a gift and i guess she immediately thought it was paid for at full retail price. Then said she needed to transfer me to the tech department because they're the ones that process unlocks.

Got on the phone with the tech guy. He asked for the IMEI and the model number of the iphone 4. He put me on hold for 2 mins and came back and said he would be sending me an email with the instructions on how to accomplish the unlock. He sent it but i didn't get it right away so he sent another one and i still did not get it right away. So he said he was sending my IMEI to apple right then so that the unlock could be processed. Then he said he would wait on the phone with me until i received the now 2 emails. Eventually i did and he said all i would basically need to do is backup and restore for it to work. I hate doing that but i said ok.

Hung up from the tech guy and then took my sim card and gevey sim out of the iphone. Opened up itunes and put my non AT&T sim in alone. (NOTE: IF YOU ARE ON IOS 5.0 AND ABOVE, RESTORING IS NOT NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE THE UNLOCK IN ITUNES. I believe restoring first is only necessary for ios 4 and earlier.) I'm on ios 5.01 btw. I plugged my iphone in and it immediately said activation required and took me to the ios 5 activation screen. I chose my wifi network and within 15 seconds i got service and itunes showed the "Congratulations, your iphone has been unlocked" screen. Then i did a carrier update. :D

HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE!

Customer wait time online is a joke.

Regardless, once I got a hold of them, the unlock went instantly and my phone was unlocked immediately. I tried to see if they would unlock my on contract iPhone but they were a bit smart about that. Originally she asked me for my IEMI and then she asked from where it was purchased. Then she told me that no, it wouldn't work.
