Its unlocked... Congrats,... If you want to help me... appreciate it...

I called like 6 times yesterday until I finally got someone to do it for me. She said the latest resolution date would be May 9. I got the same e-mail as other people have that's a pdf document with unlock instructions. However, one thing I noticed was that my document said something like "a request has been sent" while other peoples' document said something more like you have been approved".

The tech support girl did say that she was going to e-mail me with the instructions first and I needed to wait for a second e-mail with the unlock code and then I could follow the instructions she sent me. I tried restoring anyway but I didn't get the unlock screen in itunes. But when I checked IMEI.info, it says SIM locked: no.

I'm wondering if my phone is unlocked or not, since I don't have a non att micro sim card to test it out yet. Is it unlocked since it says SIM locked: no ? I still haven't gotten an e-mail with the unlock code but I don't think you need the unlock code.

I had a 3GS unlocked before and I waited a couple days for the e-mail until I finally decided to try putting a sim card in. It worked then and I didn't get the e-mail with the unlock code until almost a week later.

Also, current customer accounts must be in good standing with no past-due amount or unpaid balance and has been active for at least sixty (60) days. Former customer account may be eligible for unlocking so long as they owe AT&T no Early Termination Fee or other unpaid balance. AT&T will unlock an iPhone for an active and deployed member of the military who is a current AT&T customer in good standing and is able to provide AT&T with deployment verification; and a person who purchased the iPhone from an authorized location are the 'no commitment' price and can provide proof of purchase.

Ms. XXXXXXXXXX, please note, if you are traveling internationally, the iPhone is a quad-band phone and will work in many countries across the globe. Please visit www.wireless.att.com/learn/international/for information on traveling abroad with iPhone.

For questions regarding AT&T’s wireless service and iPhone, please contact AT&T Customer Care at (800) 331-0500. If you are outside the United States you may dial +1 916-843-4685 from an active AT&T phone or any landline 24 hours a day.

My name is Stanley Moore, and I thank you for contacting AT&T Mobility. We appreciate your business.

Sincerely,

I did the unlock as an active duty member. They didn't require deployment verification, just verification that I was active duty. The FAN discount was my verification. Works great, was unlocked in under 20 minutes from the phone call.

How'd you verify active duty/FAN discount? Did you have any problems not being a current or former at&t customer?

Hi, guys so after waiting for like 2 weeks, my unlock request for my iphone 4 was denied today by email. It says

Thank you for contacting AT&T Customer Care about unlocking your iPhone.

We are unable to complete your request at this time due to the following reason(s):

• Invalid or no mobile/account associated with request.

The funny thing is that the first thing I said to the ATT customer service girl was that I 'm not a current ATT customer and she said it doesn't matter as long as the imei is not tied to a current ATT account. I bought the phone off eBay and my imei was clean according to ATT so I'm at a loss why they rejected my unlock. Is anyone having the same problem as me?

Strange...I got the congratulations you're unlocked screen but on that website it says my phone isn't sim unlocked. Also I tried a tmobile sim in it and it works so I don't know how reliable that website is.

Yeah, none of my request went thru on imei.info. All came back as error. No sim status for all three tries.

That's the exact email I got. The service rep said it was because the claim ticket was processed without an account # of the customer or ex customer, and they changed their policy for unlocking iPhones. If you have an old account they can look it up with your social security #, they did mine then gave me new claim #s for my phones. I will let you all know what happens by the 9th either way.

iphone 4, should i email them again? or call them?

Hm, well if it's still under warranty I'd go to the apple store to get it replaced. But before that, yeah, I would definitely call them up and give them your case number and ask what the reasoning is.

well, i dont have warranty, i bought it used from ebay, i think i will call them.

Does Att is still unlockiing iphones of non account holders? should i give it a try?

Ok. Well. So it seems like these idiots have changed their policies maybe after looking at millions of unlock requests.

But this is real crap! I did my case on 14th April along with a few of my friends. The expected date was 23rd April. And they kept delaying it saying that they have a lot of requests to execute hence it is taking time.

And now they have closed my case saying that since I am not having an AT&T account, they can't perform it. What crap!

I feel so left out. What to do guys? :(

Apparently, AT&T have changed their policy about unlocking iphones, that is, they will only accept the unlock request from those who are AT&T and previous owners who probably jump shipped. If you never had an AT&T account, you may be out of luck in trying to request an unlock. But I wouldn't give up hopes on it. You may as well keep trying again. I'm sure some reps don't go by the book while most would go by the book, so keep trying. Maybe you may get lucky.

This is how all those "Factory Unlock" Services will make their money...
Give it a few weeks and I'm sure AT&T will add another low blow to their policy. "You must be able to walk on water in order to unlock your iPhone."

The exact thing happened to me today, are we lost then?
