Where I live I have no difficulties “trading in” Apple hardware to commercial resellers at a similar (often higher) price than what Apple offers for trade in. I never actually traded in with Apple for that reason. Moreover, you can get like-new (sometimes unopened) iPad Pro M4s for 20-25% below list price.
Do you want to sell mine?

I upgrade yearly hoping for them to make Genshin playable at super smooth and consistent 120 FPS but it's never happening imo. Probably in 2026 - 2027, not before. M4 barely got it to be playable at 100% consistent 60 FPS when maxed, the 120 option is just a joke ever since it came out on M1.

Kinda. My iPad got stolen in Italy in July and I decided to wait until the new one to buy my replacement.

Sticking to my M4 … mostly because the selling prices on eBay show a huge loss. Especially on my 1TB model… Plus I only got it in September, I knew the new ones were on the way but college started mid September so what’re you to do.. Just how these things work.

Nice to see the improvements. Charging is one I’m happy to see they improved. 120HZ, I did notice this wasn’t supported and tbf the external display support is patchy at best on the M4, doesn’t take full advantage of beautiful hi-res displays although it’s clear enough to get work done. Must admit, I don’t even think iOS has been optimised to fully take advantage of the M1, let alone M4, let alone M5.. my desire for 16GB of RAM is pointless because apps like Office Excel still purge and refresh documents like it’s 2012 on the iPhone 5’s RAM.

Yes - just pre-ordered. I’ll cross-post what I wrote in the other thread:

Just pre-ordered a 13 M5 256 to replace my 13 M4 256.

I am prepping myself to be mind-blown.

Seriously, I’m pissed there’s zero battery capacity improvements. Faster charging will help a little, but more capacity would’ve been nice.

Also, really wish memory was 16/24 or something. I actually do run into memory issues pretty regularly with my 8GB M4. I was tempted to go for the M5 1TB for the 16GB memory, but am hoping an extra 4GB over my M4 will reduce/stop safari crashes and game lockups etc. An extra $600 is a very tough sell for only 4GB more memory.
I’ve noticed my new 12GB iPPM 17 always runs completely full on memory, just like my 8GB iPPM 16 did, so I don’t know if the extra 4GB bump will actually help, or if that extra 4GB is “off-limits” for regular apps and has been allocated only to OS/AI functions.

Upgrade cost was ~$605+tax w/trade-in.

Fun fact - I bought my M4 day 1, 18mo ago and have had 80% max charge enabled the entire time. My M4 battery is currently at 92% max usable capacity with 312 cycles. I think I’m going to allow 100% full charging on my M5 with the intent I’ll upgrade in 18mo to the M6. I’ll be curious to see how the battery fares charging all the way to 100%.
