I’m going from m4 13” 256GB to m5 13” 1TB cellular and nano glass. I’m going all in on iPad and retiring my Mac, as I’ve hardly touched my Mac since the latest versions of iOS 26. I also really miss having 5g cellular (I had it on a previous iPad) for constant internet access. As a piece of hardware, the current version of the iPad Pro really cannot be matched and for what I need, it is the future of computing.

I kinda want to upgrade from my 11” M4 to 13” M5, I ended up using my iPad only in Magic Keyboard and the 11” is starting to feel a bit cramped for that. And the RAM and fast charging upgrade would be nice since I’m always taking the base model.

I did the same; giving my Air to my god daughter.

What accessories and keyboard you use with it?

Magic Keyboard for iPad and the Pencil Pro. I sometimes switch it up and slap a Smart Folio on it when I want to keep the weight and bulk down (it’s super slim that way) but it mostly lives in the Magic Keyboard.

I prefer any iPad Pro or any other latest iPad with 8 TB of add on storage. Easier and more options with lower storage but I know it is by design just dislike you never get that exact amount. It the nature of formatted storage. Even if it is onboard storage. You can not even go over 2 TB so no way possible to get 8 TB or somewhat less of onboard storage yet. Yes it will happen but when ?

Onboard and add on storage are both portable. Biggest advantage of onboard is it can never disconnect from port. Not that big of a deal. At least with add on storage you can use it on two, three, four, or however many mobile devices at once. Instead of having to have copies of everything tons of times on each device. Would be waste. Doubt that would ever happen but if so.

Sure you could save a lot and not have any local storage with onboard or add on but I guarantee no mobile connection will stream high quality 4k video without any buffering no matter where you are. Unless you determine the exact spots to be for optimal streaming performance. That is impossible way to many factors. It can change every second, minute, and day.

Will never happen given the outrageous prices Apple charges for onboard storage. I can use an 4TB SSD or even a small uSD card reader with a 1TB card for a fraction of the price Apple asks.

Of course it will happen. Just a matter of time.
The original iPad, released in 2010, had storage capacities of
16 GB, 32 GB, or 64 GB

still waiting to push the button on upgrading a 1st Generation iPad Pro 12.9 inch 32GB/4GB ram (yes that's November 2015 !), so 10 years old with the original battery ! It's just an amazing device, now stuck in the past on iOS 16.

During the Summer, I got the entry level iPad 11th Gen from my local Costco, used it about twice before returning after about 2.5 months. I put it back in the box and Costco refunded me, wow! Screen was way too small and I hated how the display didn't meet the touch glass.

Last year several local entertainment exchange stores had the larger M4 iPad Pro (2TB, with cellular) for £1500 including 5 year warranty, as-new condition in box but £1000 less than ordering from Apple.

The question is 1 or 2TB worth it now for 4GB extra RAM and one extra CPU core.....

No, already having an 11" M4 iPad Pro, no compelling need to.

#2. M5 CPU 9 Cores BUT the GPU is 45% Faster with Neural Engine Cores (that’s Huge)
#3. Can out put 120hz VRR
#4. Better battery
#5. WiFi 7
