am hoping an extra 4GB over my M4 will reduce/stop safari crashes and game lockups etc. An extra $600 is a very tough sell for only 4GB more memory.
I’ve noticed my new 12GB iPPM 17 always runs completely full on memory, just like my 8GB iPPM 16 did, so I don’t know if the extra 4GB bump will actually help, or if that extra 4GB is “off-limits” for regular apps and has been allocated only to OS/AI functions.
It will not, but not because of the reasons you suggest.
Third-party applications can absolutely take advantage of the extra RAM, especially video editing in 3-D rendering applications.
But outside of that, iPadOS (and by extension iOS) have extremely strict ram management.

If 12 GB on your iPhone still leads to Safari tab reloads and such, expect the exact same behavior on the iPad Pro.
Unlike macOS, which does it’s best to utilize all memory available at all times even when it’s not necessarily needed, Apple‘s mobile platforms do the exact opposite for power efficiency.
Not that hard to find comparisons online that prove that the 16 GB iPad pros that have been available for going on five years now do the exact same purging of background tasks as the 8 (and now 12) GB models.

13in M4 WiFi 256 ➡️ 13in M5 1TB with cellular and nano-texture.

I think this is going to be the ultimate machine.
Said every iPad Pro release if I remember correctly. The M7 I hear will be the the ultimate ultimate machine paired with optional implants...

Will never happen given the outrageous prices Apple charges for onboard storage. I can use an 4TB SSD or even a small uSD card reader with a 1TB card for a fraction of the price Apple asks.
Add on storage you can be used on multiple devices. An example that no one uses at least not consumer but like sixty devices. That is impossible to do with onboard storage.

I wish they made visual like the watch is. Like the Apple AR but 10 to 100 times smaller.

It will happen but sadly you could lose it easily. Only way not is if it had a light or way to find it.

Does anyone know if there a way to customize features a mobile device has before ordering it ?

I’ll be upgrading (and my Studio to the M5 when that comes out), just because Daystrom designed the chip. One of the best episodes!

So I have two m4 iPad pros. One a 11” cellular with 65 cycles (512 8gb ram), and a 13” cellular that was just replaced for a brand new one with 5 cycles (512gb 8gb of ram). I notice on device monitor it gets into 92-99% just by using social media apps. However, I wouldn’t ever had known it had I not downloaded the app. I also tried the same scenarios on my 17 pro max which has 12gb of ram as well so it makes me wonder if it’s just utilizing most of the ram on purpose. Not sure. Should I upgrade? Both of my m4’s are basically new.

No, like you said, you wouldn’t have noticed if you hadn’t downloaded device monitor, so you wouldn’t be spending money for pretty much the exact same experience you already have with your devices (and those device monitor apps are not known to be very reliable).
