Android tabs suck. Ice cream sandwich might change this, I'll wait and see.
So help me understand ..u love the s2 which runs Android...but don't like a tablet which runs the same software?i have not owned any Android product so far but I thought the mobile phones and tabs run the same software ?is that not correct?

Personally I believe in a single Eco system which helps in understanding the nuances of the OS across similar devices. And the answer to the question as to which system is better is quite a difficult one to make because the answer is never the same. It keeps changing with time and newer releases of the OS and the respective devices. Very similar to the battle we have between Canon and Nikon. Both of them are very good and they keep switching the number one position between themselves. For Android, post ICS,things can only get better IMHO.

Android Tablets run honeycomb, which is the tablet version of android os. There are no ics tablets yet, and even the transformer prime will be running honeycomb when it's released.

I perhaps worded my first post a bit strongly. They don't suck, they're just not iPads. With an iPad I can read my newspaper, download any magazines I want, books, I have all of iTunes at my fingertips. A much wider selection of apps.

The difference between a tablet and smartphone is in the way that I use it. I'd never read books, papers etc on my phone, but I do this daily on my tablet.

Android probably does have all of this stuff but it's mainly through third party apps, there's no consistent ui. With an iPad you just need an apple id and boom, you're done. You can access all of the aforementioned content.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

I did, but unfortunately the two I had were defected.

I did the opposite, after always having iPhones, bought an AT&T SGII. I still have two of our iPhones (jb'd 3GS and a 4). Never was a fan of Android before, but the new phones are sweet, time to root and rom and customize  . My 3GS is still jailbroken and customized to the hilt. However I wanted something new, and both our current iPhones get no WiFi anywhere unless within a few feet of a router since updating to iOS 5. Apple finally has "acknowledge" the issue and that it's software related and is apparently working on a fix, but I got sick of having no wifi and there's no JB for the 4S in the forseeable future, I'd be surprised if one is released before Feb/March 12'.

(Yeah, I know this is late, however ...)

Since the OP has an iPad, I'd bet that a phone of any size screen is going to be "too small". Since getting my iPad some months back, I've had little desire to upgrade my old 3GS, which basically acts as a "backup iPad" (for when I don't have the iPad). My iPhone doesn't get anywhere near the usage of my iPad.

So, my recommendations to the OP would be:

  • If size really is an issue, just stick with the SGS2 and wait until next October.
  • If you can't wait, just get the 4S.
  • Alternatively, just get nothing. Save your money and use the iPad.
Whatever you choose, you'll probably end up using your phone a lot less since you have an iPad.

I have a galaxy s2 which I love and didn't really have any problems with it until I got my iPad two days ago.

I'm now thinking it might be better to get an iPhone so that I can benefit more from iCloud and the fact I only have to buy apps once.

I'm not sure if it's worth it though, as I'd have to sell my phone for about £300 and then put £200 towards an iPhone 4S.

Has anybody ever swapped the sgs2 for an iPhone? Do you think it was worth it?

Thanks :)

Sort of. I actually recently had the S2 with a new contract on Three but changed my mind and went back to my iPhone 4. It's a great phone but I just prefer the iPhone. I wouldn't sell it for £300 though, I'd probably keep it and in a way you have the best of both worlds anyway. The S2 is a pricey phone though, going for around £500 without contract, so £300 used is just too low in my opinion.

I had a SGSII, but it wasn't an iPhone ... and Sprint didn't have the iPhone until now. Now, I have the 4S.

Feel free to sell your iPhone and buy a samsung.

I am very unhappy with my 4s -
I was going to get a SGS2 weeks before launch, and use my 30 days to check it out -
I decided against it because I feared I would no longer be able to look at a 3.5 screen again -
So here I am, very dissapointed with the 4s -
