I got so used to the notch and the rounded corners of the screen that I can't imagine going back.

the notch gives the X a very noticeable profile... when I open an app that doesn't embrace the notch, the phone literally looks like any other phone with an "all screen" design. I love the particular character it gives the phones. Also props to apple for nice using the software to embrace the notch.

I don't mind the notch.

Hardly watch videos so notch isn't an issue!
The thinner 19.5:9 aspect ratio makes landscape viewing like piss due to the lesser width and longer height. So notch again not an issue!

I think they designed iPhone X to be used in portrait in mind and that's how it should be. If you really value landscape usage, then the iPhone 8+ is a better deal at a lower price. 16:9 has a better width ratio which would make landscape usage viable for those who need it.

I don't hate the notch and I think it's the best way to do it for an all-screen design that needs a camera system in front. I use my phone every day and I've paid a lot more for things that I used a lot less so unless the iPhone costs $3000, I don't think I have to try to justify it.

I know right you get used to it so freaking quickly... some people just wanna harp and harp on apple's flawed design as an obvious negatives but they haven't tried putting themselves in THEIR SHOES... -_-

The only reason to actually “like” the notch compared to tolerating apples lesser engineering skills is that everyone knows you have the premium version of 2017.

Kind of like having a 5s instead of the cheaper/more affordable 5c.

IMHO.

I do kind of like it and got used to it. I rarely watch any videos on it. Only really when in the gym when on a bike or something and in the office showing the guys some football highlights. for some reason the sides just have a good but weird look to it.

I haven't found a video app where the notch intrudes. There have been posts showing game apps where the notch pokes into the viewing area, which could be obnoxious.

The only positive about the notch is that it makes more room for content since the ears hold the time and bars.

The screen is actually 5.85" with the notch and 5.8" without, so your not losing content.

What are bezels like, then, amputation? I get it that the notch is a quirky, goofy design choice by a bunch of people who appear to be very insecure about their branding. But really, an ailment? At the very worst, it's just lost display space, like the Note 8.

Literally everyone on the subway car I rode this morning in NYC has the X. It's not that "premium" or worth the "show off" factor.

Tell me about it, people think they're cool for having a certain model iPhone.
You're not driving a 1 out of 8 Ferrari's made in the world.
Its a smartphone that's mass produced by the millions folks :D

I don't hate it. For me it kind of fades into the screen sometimes I don't know it's there so not a biggie. When I watch something like Netflix, my thumb is usually over it so again, not a biggie. TBH, I'm not in love with this phone anymore. It's too small and I'm over it. I kinda want my 6 Plus back. But the notch isn't a factor in that.

So what are you finding that's too small?

I’m digging the notch. It definitely makes the phone stand out from everything else out there.

I don’t love it but I don’t mind it either since Faceid works so well. But I rarely notice it unless I’m using faceid or watching a full screen video

These Notch discussions will eventually fade and others will accept it for what it is. And those shun the Notch , can utilize another device or choose not to support the iPhone X at all. It's fairly simple.

I mind it. It’s kind of cool that it looks like a part of the ui rather than a piece of hardware covering the screen.

Seriously. The notch is not the big a deal! You don’t notice it. You notice more when an app/game isn’t supported yet. Fallout Shelter just received an update supporting the X and the experience is night and day. The notch is a complete non issue.

That seems to be the most popular answer so far.
The "look at me, my phone is different/newer than yours" feature.

Doesn’t bother me either way. Makes the iPhone X look unique/iconic?

I must be missing something. Unless you're using an app that's really full screen, or on a page like the home screen or Settings, it's pretty hard to tell whether a phone has The Notch or not - am I missing something? So, it doesn't strike me as much of a status symbol?

Didn't mean it in terms of a status symbol. Just saying it is something new/unique for the user.
