I had the original iPad and hated that the black bezel highlighted all my fingerprints. My iPad 2 is white and I love it. I ordered white again for the new iPad. Zero regrets. IMHO it's all personal preference, go with your gut!

I will, rather unfortunately, never buy a white Apple product again. Personal opinion really. When the iPhone 4 launched I was really upset about the white not being available, so I purchased the black. So when the white iPad 2 was coming I was really excited. However, it was a bad decision. In a dark room the screen reflects on the white bezel and it does cause distraction from what is going on. The white doesn't get dirty but it appears dirty in most lighting situations. More so faded than dirty, but it just looks too yellow. I got the white 4S but recently purchased a black on in preparation for my black iPad 3. For people saying the 4S doesn't look any dirtier than the black - that is a fallacy. Around the corners where the glass meets the plastic dirt will easily get stuck in there and eventually be noticeable, where as on the black not so much. Also if you have screen protectors on, dirt and grime will catch on the sides and again due to the white paint the dirt is very noticeable, where as on the black you don't notice this.

We have both colors in the family. White is horribly distracting while using the iPad. However once I'm done using it, sitting on the counter, desk, or anywhere it looks better than black. The only reason I bought one is it's a good feminine color that my wife prefers.

That said, I've always chosen function over looks since I spend too much time using them, not admiring them. Black is the color of each iPad I've owned. It never gets old.

I always planned to get the white one. Ordered it. Now thinking I should have got the black one. It looks more elegant. But cancelling would mean a longer wait.

I don't use much media and bought it for reading, surfing, working. The white is better for that IMO.

For the iPhone it has to be black.

I don't buy the whole black is better for media. If the lcd blacks were pitch black, then sure but this is not OLED. I find the black distracting in the dark because of how gray the lcd blacks look against the black bezel.

No, I've been using a white iPad since March 11, 2011. If Apple gives me the choice I'll pick white every time.

Night/bed

Having a black iPad 2 I see what he means by it dissapearing at least when it comes to using it during the night/ in the dark....just a penny for your thoughts man

The white is under glass, it won't show any dirt or grime that you won't also see on your black one. And the white shows far fewer fingerprints.

As for the black "disappearing", that's something I don't get. It's not like the picture fills the bezel area. It's still an image in a frame, no matter what color the frame is.

I use a white iPad and I don't get distracted by the bezel at all. Different strokes for different folks I guess. ^^;

Never been distracted by white bezels...

Those who are, were you diagnosed with ADD? :x

There's no doubt that the white looks very elegant, slick, modern, Applish. When the 2 came out, I was absolutely certain that I wanted the white. After I got it, something just wasn't right. I went back and forth, I went into the apple store and compared black and white side by side trying to convince myself that I had made the right decision. Ultimately, I decided that the white had to go. Not because it looked faded or yellow or dirty, but that I was more aware of the fact that it was white. I know that web pages are supposed to look better, etc, but the fact is there's a black border between the bezel and the screen that detracts from the clean white frame. I have no regrets about returning the white and getting a black one. I never have to struggle deciding which one to get I the future either.

I love how I get voted down because I give facts and say that that the black levels suck on lcd's compared to OLED... oh well, fanboys will be fanboys I guess.

whiners? who is whining? We're just expressing our opinions. I am so sorry to see that you cannot engage in an adult conversation without having to put down others opinions. How old are you?

Do not patronise me. If you don't like what i have to say then i suggest you take the time to learn how to construct opposing arguments.

Christ, it's not really a debate. You can't call people whiners for saying the white is distracting. It is distracting to them.

If its not distracting to you and you want white, get white.

But otherwise, what are you trying to accomplish by arguing that opinions and subjective issues with white bezels are wrong?

White is elegant and classy in my opinion, and not distracting. I got tired of every piece of electronics from every manufacturer being black over the last 2 decades. It's dark and depressing. White all the way, I say.

Related note: I wish the Apple TV wasn't black. Should be white or aluminum. Disappointing, but as long as it works.

Nope, just getting the white iPad this time around to change things up a bit as my last one was black. Besides, it'll match my 4S. I change the color of my iPhone every year, so I'll do the same with the iPad. :apple:

I'm the other way around. I like my iPhones black and my iPads white. The black phone is b/c its carried around in public more and white stands out too much imo. Black is classy.

As for the iPad, I like the white. I use it more or less for media consumption, and the white makes me feel more "relaxed." Weird answer I know, but it is definitely subjective.

I'm the other way. I like how the white iPhone looks against my skin tone when I'm on the phone. I buy black iPads because the thick white bezel is too distracting. The white iPhone doesn't bother me because the bezel is skinnier.
