So you think I can walk in there and ask for a new phone if this doesnt work? The phone is only 2 months old. :/

Big difference between a software problem (Apple error) and water damage (user error). They do not work the same at all.

No, do not ask for a new phone, bad idea. Be honest, tell them what happened and that it was your fault. You may get lucky and they may replace it. But, more than likely, you will have to pay the $229 out of warranty replacement fee.

I heard something that if you have dead pixels on the phone regardless if it is water damaged they will replace it!! The phone has a couple of dead pixels now..seen it before I put it in rice. Not that I want to go around ripping off apple but I cant afford to pay that much, I will if I have to! I will go in there and hopefully they can do me a favour :( doubt it though!

Dead pixels can be caused by water damage..

Honesty is always the best policy. Devices are expensive, but that is (literally) the price you pay. iPhone's are expensive, and so are mistakes.

As I said, go in and be honest. You may get lucky, but don't go in expecting anything.

This sucks .. I spend a lot of time trying to keep my phone safe..Ive never dropped it or dropped it in the toilet etc...always keep a case on it..and of course I put my water bottle in my purse and the cap wasnt fully tightened, this has to happen!

If those pixels were there before, and the rice works, could my phone end up not having pixels when I take it out? I will just replace it if it does..I dont want pixels on my phone!

Why didn't you take the phone in before if it had dead pixels?

It is highly unlikely that previously existing dead pixels would disappear after this situation - in fact, it's impossible as it's a previously existing hardware issue, and water damage doesn't fix hardware problems..

Getting a new phone sounds like your best option - hopefully they'll be gracious and provide a free replacement, but again, it's highly unlikely. Good luck, though, accidents do happen and they are no fun.

No the dead pixels were there right after I noticed water damage!!!

You said "If the pixels were there before..." That would imply that you were saying they were there before the water damage.

If that's not the case, then yes, they may disappear. Again, it's water damage, there's no guarantee that anything will be fixed.

This is my post-

"The phone has a couple of dead pixels now..seen it before I put it in rice"

Meaning that right before I put it in the rice I seen dead pixels

I'm not excited to be completely honest. I know I won't be able to upgrade my phone because I don't have money and my parents won't do it. I love having the latest of anything and I feel crappy when I don't -_-

It's weird

I missed that part of your earlier post, I was referring to your line in the post that I quoted which sounded like the pixels were there before the water damage.

Either way, it's possible that putting it in rice may do a good job of helping the phone (it is turned off as well, isn't it?). Even if it seems ok, it may have problems down the road. Or, it may not help at all..You just don't know, have to give it time and have patience.

Yah, I really hope its ok..:( I was also stupid and turned it on after I turned it off to see if it was still like that...yes I know stupid stupid stupid..I even know that u arent suppose to do that..Hope it still works..I know there wasnt that much water damage..it wasnt fully submerged in water. But sometimes it only takes a little

Does it have to be sealed in a bag? I have it in my rice bag and I twisted the top of the bag and put an elastic around it...should that work? does it have to be the same as sealing a bag? If so I will have to drive bag home and put it in a ziploc

I know this is OT and not really any of my business, but, if I may ask, what do you do for work? I think it's cool that you like what you do!

I'm what Best Buy calls a "CIA" or a Counter Intelligence Agent. I'm pretty much surrounded by tech all day every day and can repair pretty much anything.

I love what I do as well. It's none of my business, but a day off for an Apple event seems a wee bit extreme. Just for the fact I never see that much that takes an entire day to cover/research and in most cases the things are not even released the same day.

The most I did or would do is say take a late lunch so I could track the event work free for an hour. Whatever makes you happy though go for it!

Obviously, and I thought it would go without saying, the keynote is not the only thing I focus on all day.

The thing is, to take a day off just for the keynote is a little extreme. But whatever, it is your choice and its only the opinion of others! So who cares!

Christ.
I probably should have mentioned that I just asked to switch my days off? I usually take the weekend off and decided to take Tuesday and Wednesday off this week. Less extreme now?

It's not that I care about the opinion of others, I just don't understand where "it's a bit extreme" is coming from.

Because the way some people think is that its just an iPhone right? I get excited dont get me wrong, but I wouldnt schedule a day off..but thats just me. Some people would think taking a sick day for no reason is extreme, but Ive done that before when it wasnt busy at work! We had paid sick days so why not..I dont know..dont listen to me really..its just my opinion! Enjoy your day off!

I am very excited!!

Looking forward to my 5 "feeling like a new phone" and so on.

There will be glitches the first month but as long as it doesn't brick my phone, I'm happy.

We've all been calling for a redesign for many moons. Here it is.
