You can’t go wrong with the SE. It’s everything that a mobile phone needs to be, nothing more and nothing less. A liberating alternative to this ever increasing price desensitization.

I essentially concur, but in the real world... well... the screen. If it was just a bit bigger, I wouldn't have returned the last SE I bought. It's tough for me to roll back in screen size after years of Android phones, especially the 5.5" LG G3 I've been using for the last 3 I think.

Coincidentally enough, the screen on the G3 just fizzled out over the last two days, right as Apple announces all these new and newly price-reduced phones. Maybe for the extra $50 in my pocket, I can live with that little screen anyway.

Iphone SE was good before Iphone 7 ..

but after they added water resistant to the iphone from iphone 7 and up , The SE is not worth it anymore unless you are on low budget ...

more over , using any MAP application on the SE is really a bad experience , the screen is just too small for displaying maps.

and if you have big hands avoid the SE , you cant type on that screen with big hands.

It is small, and if it’s going to be your only iOS device, then I’d recommend the bigger screens. I use my SE as a cell phone, and have a cellular iPad for general media consumption.

I really thought we would see an SE Mark II but today I've changed my mind. The reason being that Apple has, surprisingly, not dropped the 6S. They are obviously still manufacturing it and therefore I am sure the SE will continue to be built using the same parts for cost saving reasons.

The price has come down but really I am a bit torn on the SE. When it was released it was amazing value for money - the same internals as the flagship. Well that flagship has been replaced by the 7 and replaced again by the 8. Suddenly the SE doesn't look quite such *amazing* value even if compared to the rest of the line up it does constitute good value.

I would love to buy an SE with the internals from the 7 or 8 but feel that's unlikely in the near future.

Me - I’ve never used Touch ID 2. How much faster is it than the Touch ID 1 I have?

This is the exact reason I upgraded my 6 to a 7 last year - could no longer bear to use Touch ID 1. I still have my iPad Air 2 and its just night and day better on the 7. Touch ID 1 and Apple Pay is just embarrassing at times.

Nonsense. Touch ID 1 is not that bad. Sure Touch ID 2 is way faster but Touch ID 1 is no slouch either.

I can't decide! Anyone have an opinion on SE vs 6S?

Since the prices have come down a little bit I am thinking of jumping in. Specs are pretty much the same accept the bigger screen on 6S. I am looking at the SE which comes with 32GB or the 6s refurb from apple that went down to $369 but only has 16GB of space. A little low but I might be able to make it work. The other option is a 64GB refurb 6S which is $429.

I am currently stuck in a contract for an android phone I hate, I can elaborate if you want, so I want to come back to an iPhone right now but want to do it on more of a budget then when the contract is up I could do another upgrade if I really needed or wanted to. My current contract has 15 more months.

Carrier?

After watching today's keynote I feel better about my iPhone SE then ever. In my opinion the SE is Apple's best phone made. Many will think I'm crazy, but the value is just insane.

I bought my SE for $150 on AT&T's prepaid service. $150 for a brand new, iPhone SE 32GB space gray model. I popped my sim in, and it works perfectly on my AT&T postpaid account. Yeah it's locked to AT&T, but I don't care. I'm not leaving or switching.

I absolutely cannot fathom spending $999 for a phone, or let alone $700, but people will do it with these stupid payment plans. I can buy a computer with that money.

I use my phone for calls/text/viewing email and light media such as music, and a camera when I need it, but not very often.

I don't play games, use social media, or watch movies on my phone. I'd rather watch movies on my 55" Sony Bravia. When I'm at home I use my computer, my phone sits on my desk and becomes a phone.

Yeah maybe I'm more simple, but it saves me boatloads of money not getting stuck in this insane upgrade loop every year. To me it's just a phone..

I guarantee my phone is just as fluid and responsive in everyday tasks as the flagship models, and my battery life is only short of the Plus models. I can easily get 2 days out of my SE.

It's all I need. I hope Apple will continue to support their 4" phone.

You're going to get an SE in the morning. If you wait until after midnight, Eric Clapton will be happy.

If you're okay with a 32GB Silver iPhone SE, you can get the Verizon prepaid kit for $199, pay one month prepaid service ($30-45?) and immediately transfer it to your Verizon postpaid which brings the SE to under $250. That's bit larger savings compared to the 6s.

Those with AT&T lucked out. Just $140-150 for the SE - no additional payments necessary.

Granted, if you don't like the size, then just get the 6s but do yourself a favor and get 32-64GB. Apps are gigantic nowadays. Unless you don't install any apps, it's kinda hard to get by on 16GB.

Sounds good! Your user habits are pretty much like mine. Mainly calls and texting. I don't play games on my phone or use social media on it. I watch an occasional youtube vid on my phone but I prefer to do that on my iMac or iPad. I don't like phone games at all and prefer my PS4 or Switch for games.

Wow that sounds great! So no hitches at all? It almost sounds too good to be true haha.

This is what I appreciate most with the decoupling of device and plan costs.

Before, I would've been paying $240/mo or $5,760 every 2 years regardless if I use my upgrade or not. Now I'm paying $160/mo or $3,840 every 2 years for the service portion. That's a difference of $1,920 or $960/yr.

For the price of $350 for the iPhone SE, that's a lot of phone for the price point. But I'm also inclined to believe the iPhone SE will be updated in 2018 at one point or another.

The screen is just too small for me. I love the industrial design of the 5s/SE but going back to the 4s I was anxiously awaiting larger screens. Now even the 7 feels too small for me.

Hitch is the iPhone comes locked.

AT&T prepaid kit, you can only unlock after 6 months paid service (either prepaid or postpaid).

Not sure about unlock policy for Verizon prepaid once you transfer the device to postpaid. Regular policy for prepaid is 12 months service, I believe. The prepaid iPhone kits used to be unlocked but then Verizon started locking them back in July.

I really hope they update it this March but they kept the 6S on the lineup and that is so confusing! Will they let an 'old' device overtake a 6S specwise?

Current iPhone 5S user on iOS 7.1.2.

I'm thinking about an SE upgrade with this latest price reduction. The debate in my head is an SE or a 7. $999+tax for a base model phone? Hell no. But $349 or $449 for more storage, I am very tempted to upgrade since my 5S has really started to show it's age in the past few months.

And with the $600 I saved, I can go but a celebratory beer.
