Cheers! That's a great deal, but wanted space grey/black...

Although gah just checked and John Lewis have it for £300. Never would have thought to get it from somewhere else as I thought they would be at rrp wherever I looked!

That's great, had phones from JL before and they give you a 2 year warranty compared to Apples 1 year!!, good price that!

Just had another look, if you want space grey 32gb, very and JL are £299

If its the 128gb, very is reduced to £349, with JL at £399 but both still better than Apple at £449

We will.
It's going to be in the spring though, per other SE releases so far.

But if Apple updates the SE it will be faster than the 6S. The 6S is still being made and offered by Apple - so they would end up either having to make the SE II more than the 6S or else it would be a very strange situation.

Of course given what they did to the Mac Mini I suppose there is a chance that the SE II could actually be downgraded in tech with a small price bump!

I have the SE, and its a great phone wonderful form factor, but I think I need to replace it. With it going on 2 years the battery is starting to age more then I want, i.e., lasting less time, and the right now my home button/touch id isn't seemingly working.

I'm sure I can take it into apple and have it repaired for a price but I don't want to sink any more money into what amounts to 1 1/2 year old phone and I cannot be without a phone. Another option is to buy a new SE, but I'm not getting any new features for that price so I'm not for that. So I may stick it out until the spring and hope for a new SE, or just bite the bullet and get a iPhone 8

I would... I'm still rocking a 5s, but I need bigger phone for typing.

The only thing wrong with a 5s today is no VoLTE support. We have Reliance Jio network here that is 4G LTE. They have an "app for it" for those who want to make calls. But, the workaround is mediocre at best. This is the only reason I am looking to get another phone.

And yes, this is clearly Apple not enabling VoLTE on the "most forward looking iPhone yet". Guess VoLTE was slightly further than the forward these guys looked.

SE has Apple Pay.
Heh. Yep. Thanks

The keynote today makes me very happy I previously purchsed an iPhone SE. Sure I paid more for it back then, Apple lowered it's price today.

I agree totally. It's amazing. That's exactly why I purchased it.
The only thing Apple cheaped out on with the SE is only putting in Touch ID 1. Apple could have put in Touch ID 2 but they refused.

However I think the SE and this size of phone is not going to be around too much longer. The Apple Watch will replace it. Most people I know who have an SE want it for making calls and SMS. The watch can do both with voice quite easily now.

"Just stop for a second, I have to make a watch call"
That just dos not have the same feel to it that the words phone call do. But one day it'll become the norm I.
Eh-hem. It would be "APPLE watch call" :D

Thanks for your input. What's the difference between touch id 1 and 2? Will I notice a difference coming from the 6 Plus?
Woo boy you will. TI 2 is so fast they had to create a hat press home button to unlock to slow people down and not miss the splash screen.

Congrats and hope you like the phone. It might take a little getting used to the smaller screen size for things like digital typing but I am sure you'll get used to it pretty quickly.
On the smaller screen: typing is harder and you may make more mistakes. Try a typing test in the store.

I wish Apple would just come out with a smaller sized phone with all the newest features. I went from the larger iPhone 6 to the SE, and it had nothing to do with money. I'd pay $999 tomorrow for an iPhone X the size of an SE. Until then, I'll stick with the SE, or at least hopefully an SE replacement next year.

Thanks for the tip for Very in the UK! I too never think about going to third party sellers. I just got a Silver 32gb for £273.09 with them, with discount for opening an account (which I'll close asap - I paid in full by card).

My one at £349 from Apple has already been dispatched, but over £75 is enough compensation for messing about with a return.

(I can honestly say I've never thought 'blimey this touch ID is taking a long time...' on my 6)

Good stuff SC, mines arriving tomorrow so time will tell but actually looking forward to this phone even after having a 7

Was just about to order the 32GB from John Lewis (£299) for collection tomorrow. Now had a last minute epiphany about the storage.

I take a lot of photos and a fair amount of movies with my iPhone. In fact, it is my primary camera. I have optimised iCloud storage where all my photos are stored (along with my MacBook). But 4K video seems to take a whopping 350GB for a 60sec clip!?

Would 32GB be sufficient? Or best to go for 128GB for £399?

My music library is 9.7GB, and I also would like that on the phone. Don't have many apps, apart from Strava, Garmin Connect and mostly store cards (Starbucks, Costa, etc).

I had a SE and now have a 7. The difference between Touch ID 1 and 2 is pretty big, IMO. not only in speed but also accuracy.

The SE is a terrific device, though, and probably what I'd buy if my 7 died tomorrow. For the price, it really can't be beat.

iPhone 6s.

With the lower resolution though, it might maintain smoothness/performance better compared to the 6s/6s+ as iOS gets updated.

honestly, IMO, if you're someone that wants the smaller form factor then you kind of can't go wrong with an SE this time around.

Absolutely. We're on AT&T so I actually got one of those iPhone SE AT&T Prepaid Kits for $150 from Best Buy as a backup phone. It's an excellent device for the price point if one prefers iOS to Android.

FD you can get the 128gb model from very for £349, if you open account and its first order you will get a further 10% off first order, you can pay with card and close account or put it on interest free up to 12 months if you wanted to and again could be paid off whenever

So at very you could bag a 128gb today for £314

Thinking about it. Just wish I knew how credible the rumors about an early 2018 SE update are.

Hey, thanks for that! I already ordered the 128 with JL for £400 as it has a 2 year guarantee. Haven't not shopped with very before so was not sure of their returns 'if' I had a change of heart.

I did, however, put in a price promise form with JL, so let's see if they match the price. Either way, am picking it up tomorrow with the leather case. Will be interesting to see how it is!

Am really hoping that next year Apple bring out a 4.7" version of the iPhone X. After owning the 6 Plus for 3 years, I'm really not a fan of the larger sized phones. A 4.7' SE would probably be just slightly larger than the SE, and will give a year to see how the whole facial recognition thing works out.

What if it was SE size but edge to edge like the X?

That would be awesome. The same screen real-estate as a 6/7/8 but in the form factor of the 5. Sign me up!

It's funny really, the industry is really driving bigger and bigger screens and handsets, and it really is seen as bigger=better. Yet, back before smartphones, the opposite was happening - phones started out huge and kept getting smaller and smaller, with the smallest being the most desirable. I had some really titchy Nokia, and even my Samsung slider-phone feels tiny when I hold it now.

Funny how times change.

It does make me wonder if the proliferation of tablets, could force a similar miniaturisation movement in the near future though. I mean, most product releases now are incremental right? And most phones look alike....so what better way to deliver a USP than cramming some of this tech into a smaller form which can be easily controlled with one hand...again.

That would make it some better but you are dreaming as Apple is not going to redesign the SE. I have been using a Plus size iPhone for a while now and typing on an SE keyboard would not cut it for me. I have a hard time putting in my email address on the tiny little devices that the geeks use in the Apple store.

Ah good stuff, I’m sure they will price match and the 2 year warranty from them is good , post in here how you get on with it, thoughts etc

Actually thinking some more....if it is possible to share a number across more than one device (such as the new Watch will do), then couldn't Apple push some fancy X-like phablet, and bundle with it a small form-factor phone for basic phone/text/email usage but with a ridiculously good battery life? That would certainly help justify a £grand sticker price at least

I’m not dreaming , don’t think they will but I meant if they did would you go back to smaller form
