Not a chance. Been doing the 7+ keyboard too long. Bigger is better for me. Not excited as I thought I was for the X, may just hold onto my 7+ and hope that next year they will all be OLED.

I was well up for the edge to edge phone but starting point here in uk is £1000, crazy price for a phone

That would be awesome. The same screen real-estate as a 6/7/8 but in the form factor of the 5. Sign me up!

It's funny really, the industry is really driving bigger and bigger screens and handsets, and it really is seen as bigger=better. Yet, back before smartphones, the opposite was happening - phones started out huge and kept getting smaller and smaller, with the smallest being the most desirable. I had some really titchy Nokia, and even my Samsung slider-phone feels tiny when I hold it now.

Funny how times change.

It does make me wonder if the proliferation of tablets, could force a similar miniaturisation movement in the near future though. I mean, most product releases now are incremental right? And most phones look alike....so what better way to deliver a USP than cramming some of this tech into a smaller form which can be easily controlled with one hand...again.

This in a nutshell BF, that could be the device to change things for Apple as I reckon it would sell like hot cakes , why the drive for these huge screens when we have tablets??

I was ready to pay the high price but I do not see the X blowing my 7+ away and with 11 installed I might be happy. Might wait till next year and hope the put OLED on all of their devices. I am still very much happy with my 7+.

Agree good call, will come down next year, still can’t see why we did not just have the iPhone 8 in both models with edge to edge displays and all the other stuff or maybe the plus had a couple of better features as with previous releases

I think it was just Apple wanting to do something special for the anniversary. I love the touch ID and it would be hard to give up.

The SE is a great phone if you don't mind the small display and are committed to iOS. I'm an android user, but my backup phone is an SE which I found was incredible, just a little too small for me. The other iPhones were too expensive so I had to go with android to get a reasonably priced 5" phone. If 4" is good enough for you, the SE is a rock solid phone, destroys the camera on my A5 (2017)

I can't see them getting rid of the SE anytime soon anyway...because of Jobs if nothing else (I'm sure he said 4" was the optimal screen size as a phone should fit the ergonomics of your hand)

Nonsense. Touch ID 1 is not that bad.

Sure it still works - if you have time! When you're in a rush and checking out - then it can fail multiple times and you feel like a total dumb ass holding up the line of people behind you with your shiny gadget that's failing. I've been there done that - on the iPad of course Touch ID 1 is much less of an issue. But if you want to use for phone for Apple Pay and such - Touch ID 1 can be a total embarrassment!

And the speed at which you're into your phone at other times with Touch ID 2... yeah, 1 is just way worse of a user experience at that point. The lack of Touch ID 2 in the iPad Pros is just one more reason I feel zero need to upgrade my Air 2... if Apple is going to save a few dollars on the sensor, I'm just going to wait till they make a more compelling offering before upgrading.

There is no going back on the phone once you've experienced TID2 and use it all the time. Too bad this single item prevents the SE from being truly great.

I have to agree with the8thark here. TID1 is definitely not as bad as you're making it out to be. haha. I would know, I've been using an iPhone 5S for the past week and a half. Sure, TID2 is faster..but while the difference is slightly noticeable, it is certainly not disastrous.

I use a mix of devices. Difference in TouchID speed isn't something I even notice unless I'm doing a side by side comparison. Then again, I usually put my thumb on the home button when I take it out of my pocket so it's already unlocked and ready to use by the time it's in front of me. :)

I absolutely cannot fathom spending $999 for a phone, or let alone $700, but people will do it with these stupid payment plans. I can buy a computer with that money.

...I'd rather watch movies on my 55" Sony Bravia. When I'm at home I use my computer, my phone sits on my desk and becomes a phone...

Right... so instead of spending $1000 on an iPhone, you buy a cheaper phone model, and a computer, and a gigantic expensive television...

For me, I literally use my iPhone for all of my computing, content creation, entertainment, and communication tasks. It's a phone, computer, camera, and television. So people like me don't use the same iPhone value weighting that you do.

After watching today's keynote I feel better about my iPhone SE then ever. In my opinion the SE is Apple's best phone made. Many will think I'm crazy, but the value is just insane.

I bought my SE for $150 on AT&T's prepaid service. $150 for a brand new, iPhone SE 32GB space gray model. I popped my sim in, and it works perfectly on my AT&T postpaid account. Yeah it's locked to AT&T, but I don't care. I'm not leaving or switching.

I use my phone for calls/text/viewing email and light media such as music, and a camera when I need it, but not very often.

I don't play games, use social media, or watch movies on my phone. I'd rather watch movies on my 55" Sony Bravia. When I'm at home I use my computer, my phone sits on my desk and becomes a phone.

Yeah maybe I'm more simple, but it saves me boatloads of money not getting stuck in this insane upgrade loop every year. To me it's just a phone..

I guarantee my phone is just as fluid and responsive in everyday tasks as the flagship models, and my battery life is only short of the Plus models. I can easily get 2 days out of my SE.

It's all I need. I hope Apple will continue to support their 4" phone.

Never had a SE but I did have the 5
That took amazing indoor photos!

My iphone 7 is terrible at capturing indoor shots in low lighting

I'm still using my first ever Apple product, an 8GB iPhone 4. The battery isn't lasting as long these days, but it still does what I need it to do... be a phone. How smart it is has always been a bonus. Literally, whatever I switch to will be an upgrade.

I am currently underwhelmed by the iPhone X, though I reserve the right to change my mind. For my use case, that's a lot of money for a device I clearly use for calls, e-mail, and light web browsing at this stage. Would my usage change if I got an 8 or an X? Maybe. If I bought an SE, maybe not? I'd like 256 or even 512GB so I can make my phone my portable music player (I like being off the grid, so streaming is a no-go).

Having used a 3.5" screen for the last 5+ years, even a 4" screen will seem huge by comparison. I have an iPad Air that meets my larger screen needs in tablet form, so I'm thinking an SE will do the job. Still, I'm thinking of holding off until spring. After all, I usually do hold off on replacing this phone!

Reporting back with my thoughts on the SE.

The smaller size is much more pleasing than I anticipated.

Very fast and slick; thoroughly enjoying the smaller form factor in my hand whilst on the move.

Typing may take some getting used to.

I had to opt for 128GB as 32GB was too small. I have only used 24GB. 64GB would have been perfect.

Overall, very satisfied. I am usually the guy who buys top of the range; speccing out my MacBook, for example. But for my needs on a portable phone, the SE is the sensible choice. Also, not keen on the larger phablet sizes anymore. Never watch movies, etc on them.

I'll do a full review and post back. Enjoy your new SE, guys. The right choice if your iPhone is not your all-in-one/only iOS device!

Mine came today and I'm really pleased. The size just feels right - I'd forgotten that you can do everything without constantly shuffling the phone about in your hand - and after only a couple of hours my 6 feels too big. Almost comically so. My 5 was the last phone I really loved and the SE reminds me why, and with just enough of a spec jump to feel like an update from the 6.

There's not an objective 'best' size. The perfect size for a phone is in the eye (and hand) of the beholder.

^This right here. Spot on!

Taken my SE out today, and was so convenient pulling it out to pay, listen to my audiobook (currently listening to HP: The Half-Blood Prince!) and change music. Which is exactly what it is for!

I'm not one of those people who are glued to their mobile when walking down the street. Jeez, if I need to check something online, I do it on a proper device! But each to their own and what works for them.

It's almost like going back to a simpler time for me.

Please Apple.
Don't abandon iPhone users who prefer sub current 4.7" sizes.

The form factor can change a bit if need be to modernize, but there are many of us who absolutely adore the smaller size devices.

I have just upgraded from SE to 7 for a few reasons:
1) Larger screen;
2) Better camera;
3) Water resistance.

SE runs iOS 11 GM like a champ, though, so if you like a smaller form factor, it is a great phone.
