I don't really care what phones people have and I definitely won't be showing it off. I actually get a little annoyed when I'm with a group of friends and one of them spends the whole time surfing the web or texting. But that's a whole other thread! I'll definitely be whipping it out to take pictures, though!

Yes, of course. I'm going to drive right up to the Apple Store in my Audi and rev the supercharged engine a few times so everyone will be staring at me.

Then I'll step out of the car with my designer shades on, American Express Centurion card clamped between my teeth and four gold Rolexes bling-blinging away (two on each arm), with my brand new iPhone 5 in my right hand.

I will then proceed to take out both my Audi and BMW's keyfobs and dangle them in front of everyone's faces while I proudly flash the longer screen of my iPhone 5 at everyone. I'm also going to proclaim loudly that I spent over $1000 on this unlocked model too- after all, 'subsidization' is for poor people who can't really afford it. You can't call yourself an elite if you've only spent $199/299/399 on the thing!

You didnt create the product. You didn't help make the phone. Heck, Apple doesn't even do surveys so you can't even take credit for check marking the box that said "bigger screen".

So pretty much the ONLY thing you can brag about is "Hey baby, I know how to use a credit card".

most definitely. i've taken ladies home that i met in starbucks or at the bookstore when i was sitting on the chair and my Retina Macbook Pro sitting on the table. started conversation, and gone out on lots of dates all thanks to the rMBP. its a good conversation starter.

i hope the iphone 5 can do its magic.

I'm sure.

We all know the ladies go crazy over retina display MacBooks. So irresistible.

I wouldn't go out in order to show off my phone, considering a bunch of people will have it also anyways.

But I will admit when I got my Iphone 4 a day early I took it to the Apple Store, asked if they had any cases, and made a phone call in the store.

I did later consider it a bit of a douche move though

:D

I hope this is a joke. If not, you're an ostentatious prick and enjoy the single life.

yeah definitely. i didnt even own a cellphone until i was 22, and it took me 3 years after the first iphone came out to even jump on the smartphone wagon. nowadays, kids, tweenagers have an iPhone. like you said, eventually everyone is going to have it. and it aint even cool no more. makes me wonder how parents can even provide such an expensive piece of phone to their kids.

I wasn't going to get the iPhone 5 since I'm not due for an upgrade but now I'm thinking of just picking one up on Friday and pay the unsubsidized price and just show it off at the bars and clubs, then return it on Sunday. Definitely need to get the white one since it's more noticeable in dark bars and clubs

The fact that people look to see if others are looking at their phone is pathetic. A bit loser status to me. I could care less what kind of phone the guy standin in line next to me has. They probably wouldn't even be able to tell anyways. How different does it actually look from iph4 anyways? Looks the exact same to me

Ahh bring back the days of Apple and obscurity.

I've had apple products since I was 17 years old, and yes sometimes it would be nice to go back to those days when Apple wasn't such a shiny ass flamboyant showgirl.

Back then we didn't have "Fan Bois" (God I hate that phrase) and "Look at me, I am important, I have a new iphone *flicks wrist*"

This is the part of Apple that I wish didn't exist. My iphone 5 will mainly stay in my pocket when I am out and about, at home I can show off as much as I want to in front of the mirror, but outside in the real world, where there are rage filled technophiles and people who spit on show offs, my iphone is staying in ze pocket.

I remember when the iPhone 4 launched.

I tried to pre-order on Apple.com but the site was crashing. So I made a reservation for pickup. Then I was able to finally place my online order. I then gave my in store reservation to my cousin.

That year, Apple released iPhone shipments 1 day early... so I got my iPhone 4 on Thursday. On Friday I met up with my cousin who was in line all night so I could verify my reservation for him (tied to my Apple ID).

I walked up and was filming the crowd with my new iPhone 4.... testing my newly acquired HD (720p) video recording features.

I wasn't trying to be an attention whore at all... but people DID notice that I had the new iPhone and were approaching me asking to see it.

To make matters worse... I happened to wear a blue t-shirt that day... and the Apple employees were also wearing blue shirts... so I think people thought I worked for Apple.

Here is video from that day:
