ViPhone Nice - but not a Replacement to Andriod for Bus.

I think back in 2007 the Iphone was great, even ahead of its time but it really can't compete with the latest Andriod offerings if you need a phone for business. I was skeptical at first that the Droid X could replace my BB Tour but after a month or two I found that I rarely needed to use the Tour and could do everything efficiently on the Droid X. I would not for a minute replace the X with the new VIphone -I happen to love the 4.3 screen, NEED the widgets, customization and enterprise email programs like Touchdown.

Having said all of that I love my Ipad and very much like my VIphone and plan to relegate it to my backup line to use for Ibooks when I don't have the Iphone and other APP's that I am used to on IOS but not yet available or not done as nicely on Android.

POLISH comes up a lot and I agree that the IOS system is more polished --- It's just a shame that its so damn limiting!

Because last time I checked, you were born with a vast amount of apple knowledge.

Just like the magical Koolaid that Google brainwashes Android users with? Lots of Koolaid to go around if you ask me.

I am no fanboy. Why would anyone be a fan of technology gadgets. They are all just a blend of semiconductors, processors, and memory slammed together in a Chinese slave labor factory, and then have the manufacturers name stamped on it. But at the end of the day its all the same **** to Joe Blow. Being a fan of a brand means you're a tool. Unless you own the company or work for the company it is rather dumb to support any company always.

Just buy the best product that fits your needs. I give two ***** about Android vs Apple. Just right now prefer the Android experience. Two years ago it was the Apple experience. This summer I might go back to Apple if iPhone5 is what I am looking for. Or could be HP Palm. I don't care, I just read the reviews at time of purchasing and decide based on stats, graphs, tests, etc...regardless of brand.

You seem like such a cool guy Darthdingo. Your opinion is amazing and much more important than anyone else's. I just pray that we all can be as big of a rebel like you are as time goes on :)

I'm no fanboy either, I'm just going with what works best for me, and that is the iPhone as of today. I tried Android for a year and didn't like it near as much after that year as I like iOS after a week. Like the rest of my Apple products, it just works.

I do happen to be a fan of certain brands, but I'm no tool. The brands I'm a fan of they don't make anymore, Packard, Studebaker, Hudson, Duesenberg, Auburn, Cord, etc. You can be a fan of something and not be a tool. Just because someone likes something that works for them doesn't mean that they're a tool, if it did then everyone who buys Toyotas and no other brand would be a tool. No, they bought them because they worked for them, not because they think it's the end all, be all car manufacturer out there. I feel the same way about Apple products, I've had my MBP since 2007, and it's hasn't let me down once. Couldn't say the same for the old HP that I had that only lasted a year and a half.

I'm far from an Apple fanboy, but had been enjoying my iPod touch for a year or so, until I got my Verizon iPhone on Monday. Haven't returned it because I'm completely delighted with it...

The phone rings when people call me and dials when I call people and every conversation I've had so far has ended naturally; :D

This is the main reason I'm enjoying my iPhone 4. I had a Blackberry Storm 2 before and when I would try to pick up a call it would take 10-15 seconds for the phone to actually acknowledge that I hit the button to answer the phone. And if for some reason the phone had to change orientation while doing it you just missed the call. The software on the Blackberry was just so slow it is nice to have a phone that does what you want it to do, when you want it done.

Wow! 36 hours? I'm lucky to get thru 6 on my Droid while at work....

Did you have the droid 2 extended battery? That thing is a tank and adds easily 2x the battery life. With that said, my Droid has been randomly rebooting between yesterday and today [a sign possibly?]. I've seen some decent deals on NIB iPhones that are being sold on CL, I may jump on one for the right price and purchase a bumper for the antenna situation....the saga continues.

I had that same issue with the random reboots as well as by friend who had the Droid X, never could figure out why. Mine was rooted and his wasn't. Any ideas?

Nope, original Droid here. My battery life is HORRIBLE. It goes from 50% to 10% in a mater of 10-15 mins. Mine reboots constantly too. It also deleted a bunch of my photos randomly (glad I had them backed up) and the proximity sensor is screwy and constantly hangs up on people or mutes. It's been getting worse over the past few months. When I take it to Verizon they say there's nothing they can do. I've gone thru 3 of them, all with the same issues. I can't wait for my last New Every Two in April!

Jailbreaking would have given you everything you wanted. Too bad you didn't look into it.

I'm seriously thinking about jailbreaking mine when I get it. There's a few apps on my Droid that I love and aren't available in the App Store, but are on Cydia. Know of a good site I could get some info or maybe a walk thru? I'm new at this.

I now have the VZ iPhone and it is the best phone that I have ever had for my needs. I have owned Blackberry's, Androids, and Windows phones and for my needs the iPhone just works for me. I have a sales job with 1500 customers and with the iPhone, iPad, and Mac computers, it is all synced with Mobileme and it is just fantastic for my sales job. Thanks Apple for putting out products that just work. I have been waiting for the VZ iPhone for years and now I can carry just one phone and meet all of my needs.

I came from a Droid Eris and recently upgraded to the iphone4 on Verizon... As far as battery life i still have at least 84% of my battery life available by the end of the 8 hr work day and thats much better than the previous Droid Eris i had. and thats with talking on the phone, searching websites during the day.
As the iphone4 isn't for everyone it takes some getting used to coming from the Android operating system and notifications, for me this has been a step up from my Droid Eris.

I think you and I may be the only people who stuck with the Eris until this month. It was appallingly bad and should have never have been released. The hardware was too weak to support HTC sense, particularly the telephone application. My dialer would lag for 5 seconds. And verizon promised an update to 2.1 in January of 10, then delivered in May, then ended support in June. The only reason I didnt jump to an incredible or droid x was the kaosfroyo root rom.

Switching from the iPhone 4 from the Droid Eris is like switching from a 10 year old Kia to a new 7 series BMW.

Nope, I had one as well so there were three of us at least. BTW, "Switching from the iPhone 4 from the Droid Eris is like switching from a 10 year old Kia to a new 7 series BMW." is about right, only I was thinking 1976 Pinto.

Plain and simple. The iPhone4 is a downgrade compared to a high end Android. I know the sheep will disagree but they drink the magical koolaid Steve Jobs brainwashes them with.

Maybe iPhone5 will catch up. It need Notifications...Widgets...larger screen...

You know iPhone 4 is last years phone. Not fair to compare it to current androids.

Battery life is a problem on a LOT of Android phones. My Vibrant gets maybeee six hours. Wonder if it has anything to do with the "real" backgrounding? Or perhaps the widgets that Apple is so pathetically stupid not to include?

I know. I keep reading rumors on the next iPhone this summer. Should be pretty amazing, bigger screen, dual core, and best in class battery life. Hoping that iOS5 adds widgets and notification system.

If they add widgets in iOS5 that'll be a major reason to jailbreak and remove for me, I have no use for them. UNLESS, Apple finds a way to make them work and not kill the battery like it does on Android devices. Then maybe I'll think about using them.

Go cry somewhere else Op nobody cares I think this is a worthless thread just so you could complain about your personal problems.

I think everything is fine in this Os everything runs smooth as butter unlike android that lags and even has bugs

Same with me. Widgets are horrible creatures in my opinion. However, I respect that other people like them and that they should have the ability to use them. I just think they're battery hogs.

Totally agree. Once I removed the widgets on my Eris the battery life would make it through a day. I've been averaging about two days on my iPhone 4 so I think there's more going on, like the way iOS handles multitasking, etc. Anyway, it's still better than Android, and my phone doesn't look like a camel with a huge battery on it's back.
