I'm wondering if we just wait long enough will the IMEI numbers eventually be transmitted to Verizon and loaded in their database?
Wishful thinking but possible but has not worked in the past. It is has been a launch issue since 2017 with the Series 3 Cellular and it is not just Verizon. Stay tuned as others will be posting about AT&T and T-Moble almost anytime now.

In addition to the IMEI the EID needs to be registered since the system generates a ICCID or MEID number for the Phone number and this information is stored on the iPhone and the watch.

Note: In addition to the very small number on the box, you can just check your iPhone after pairing your watch and find the IMEI / EID from the About from General > About > scroll down to see all the details of your watch.

Added myself to their “list” to have the IMEI added to their database. If it’s done within a week I’ll be surprised.

bought mine at an apple store in store pick up
That makes perfect sense since as part of check-out your box is scanned and the master DB is updated with all the magic numbers on the box.

For all those having problems were your new watches received in the mail or from a third party site?

I bought from the Apple store this morning. Unable to activate.

having same issue as well and most likely filling out a ticket to have it manually inputted. Rep i talked to said that he will try his best to look into this tomorrow for me.

I bought mine from the store as well. Seems to be a trend with the store bought watches that are the ones that can’t be activated?

No issues activating my S6 with Verizon. I followed these instructions to replace my existing watch within my account. It took 3 minutes. Picked up my watch from Apple store.

Nice. Most of just see this.

I talked to one of the higher tier reps and he said that an alert was sent out system wide about the issue and he wouldn’t be surprised if the tickets get inputted over the weekend if not tonight because of so many issues.

good to know that there was an alert sent. the tech i talked to was nice and tried his best to figure out what was wrong. hopefully this gets all sorted by Monday

Having the same issue, attempted to activate from the watch app. Wouldn't work so I chatted with Verizon. They said it was an Apple issue. Apple said it was a Verizon issue. Very frustrating. Finally after chatting with Verizon again, they said that because the Apple Watch is still in "pre-release" status on their end and no direct sales from them are in customer hands, they haven't allowed the activation yet... very frustrating. They said to try again on Monday... pretty frustrating and stupid if you ask me.

Have the same issue with Verizon. Have a ticket with Verizon to input IMEI manually. Also have a ticket with Senior Apple Advisor. This is my fourth watch and every year I had activation issues.

Well that is a complete lie just to get rid of you and not impact the rep's metrics. Again this has happened every year since 2017 and the Series 3 Cellular mode was released. A large number of IMEI / EID number are not in the carrier's system. It is even more frustrating should you want to switch carriers as they will say the same dumb thing.

From your experience with this issue in the past, how long has it taken Verizon to fix it on their end?

Normally about 24 hours before the pandemic. The rep just needs to fill out a ticket with the correct information and route it to the proper group to enter the specifics into the system.

Just a heads up. I bought a new watch today (44MM Titanium, Series 6) directly from the Apple Store and I am unable to activate it on Verizon. I got an error message saying that the device was incompatible. After spending an hour or so on the phone with Verizon I was transferred to a Tier 2 Rep who advised me that there was service alert out for the new iPad, the Series 6 Watch and the SE Watch indicating that not all of the devices purchased directly from Apple were in the national device management database (I could be messing that name up) and have to manually added so they could be activated.

Long story short, they had to put a ticket in to add the watch so it can be activated.

Just thought I would give the group a heads up in case anyone else sees this issue.

I’m having the same issue. Both Verizon and Apple customer support told me to visit Verizon and they said they would be able to activate it in store. I went to a Verizon store and they were unable to activate it and told me to wait and try again tomorrow. They said since the watch is so new they are still waiting for the data to be in the system
