how did you get the bluetoth tethering to work on your imac.
I tried on my mac pro, they both see each other, but the mac pro says not connected, and have a little red dot.
I had that problem too, until 10.5.7 came along...

Hmmm, have 10.5.7, everything up to date, wonder what it is....???
Yep - I installed the ipcc file for O2, got tethering working, but then no MMS any more. Didn't matter what I did to the MMS settings, just wouldn't work.
However, after restoring my phone to the 3.0GM then MMS returned, although obviously tethering was once more disabled, so I would guess that there are settings within that old O2 ipcc file that although do enable tethering, are incompatible with the *current* implementation of MMS and tethering as O2 are setting up up post beta-testing.
What someone needs to do is create a new ipcc file which includes the working - current - MMS and data settings and also incorporates the method to activate tethering without destroying the MMS functionality. Of course you'll still need to use the beta iTunes 8.2 to install this custom ipcc file...
Can someone create one?![]()

I've patched my carrier file with settings attached (see the image) and both tethering and MMS work for me. I'm unsure about billing implications at this point.
From my testing, tethering works perfectly with mobile.o2.co.uk but looks like you need the tethering bolt-on to use idata.o2.co.uk.
Unless all APNs are set to use idata.o2.co.uk, the iPhone will fail to tether and will remove the tethering option. This must be hard coded.
Therefore, the answer is to avoid the idata.o2.co.uk APN entirely.

Account's are being migrated onto the idata.o2.co.uk APN slowly - eventually all iPhone contracts and PAYG will use the idata.o2.co.uk APN, so it will be impossible to avoid it entirely sooner or later. This also could be the solution to some of the issues people are having. If you have been migrated onto the new APN, you may have difficulties using/accessing some features on an APN you account is not subscribed to. Hope that helps.

hmmm. I have a PAYG iphone, but am using a different sim. Any idea if I will have to use the idata.o2.co.uk, or still be able to use the mobile.o2.co.uk..??
Eventually everyone (including PAYG) will be using the idata.o2.co.uk. It's not whether you use an iPhone that was purchased on PAYG, it's all about the sim card, and the provisioning of the sim. The only real way of knowing is to call CS. Hope that helps.

I take it you tried the attached carrier file a few posts up?
I had an older version of the IPPC. Just trying this version.

and.. please post back your results...
Okay - installed the new ipcc. ....
...and so-far so good.
Since the last OS update, the bluetooth in the Unibody MacBooks will work.
So I tethered my MacBook Pro to my iPhone using both WiFi and then 3G.
Everything worked, although oddly, the 3G seemed faster than WiFi.
Don't intend to use this a lot, but it will be great for emergencies.
An emergency being defined as:
Need to use Laptop or Laptop Apps
and
Have no Wifi
and
Have 3G signal.
and
Not overseas.
Which, to be honest, is a pretty unlikely set of circumstances.
