I tested a 1TB model and the read was around 6500 but the write was only 1820. Something is definitely off with the write speed. taking it back in the morning.

iPad Anyone get the new M5 iPad Pro yet?

YUP just unboxed it. Everything is so much snappier and I know I’ll have future support with 12GB of much faster RAM. Also my display is much brighter and easier on the eyes.
Nope, UPS and their ****** delivery times are screwing me. Had to call Apple to have them make it be dropped off at an access point and they said it’ll be two days or so now. Fuming
I got mine today, upgraded from an M4, the M5 opens stuff at lightning speed, but it’s literally the same lateral upgrade. The kicker is the upgraded connectivity Bluetooth and WiFi, just got a WiFi 7 modem and will get here tomorrow, curious to see if this iPad finally goes higher than 600gb LOL.
I had a change to play with the nano screen and the regular one and to be honest, as much as I wanted the nano screen, i watch more entertainment than read, and the color brightness is noticeable on the gloss screen. Same complaint from the M4 to be honest.
I literally have no clue how we will find our serial number now, years down the road when the screen breaks and we can’t read it from the back anymore.
I was at the mall when it opened at 10 and to be honest I was the first guy picking it up, a second person arrived late, but the apple sales people managed to sell like two new iPads while I was waiting for my data transfer LOL. Dude, they are thorough now, asking question about your personal life and business trying to get that business sale. “What are you using this iPad for? Yourself or business?” I do not miss working in sales haha

The Display Zoom: More Space option alone has made the upgrade from my 2020 11" iPad Pro (2nd Gen) worth it.
Picked up my M5/512GB at noon during my lunch break at work. Luckily the Apple Store is only 5 minutes from work. Lots of people at the Apple Store. Only took about 10 minutes for the associate to have my preorder retrieved. Did the data transfer from M4 to M5 at work while finishing my lunch.
I believe the 2018 and 2020 11" iPad Pros also have the More Space option. It was only the 12.9" iPP that didn't get it.
Delivery issue here too. Said a delivery was attempted, but it was not. I was here all day and they never came, nor did my patio cam record anyone coming either. Now waiting for tomorrow...
Upgraded from my M4 11" Celllular with 256GB to the M5 with same specs. Wife will get the M4.
SSD speeds according to benchmarks are around double of the previous model. I notice the 12GB of RAM because Tabs and Apps will be longer opened. 5G Speeds are the same and I don't have WiFi7.
Besides from that not really worth an upgrade.

Funny I am the opposite, on my new M5 it drove me nuts as to why text in some apps are so small despite keep change the iOS text size settings (which does not affect some 3rd party apps). I am very used to how things looked in my M1 12.9". Then found out it is the "more space" setting that can change this.
On my Macs I have no problem having text smaller, but on the iPad I sometimes sit quite far away from the screen since it is used in varying postures / environment, so I need the text to be much larger.

My iPad Pro M5 512gb is Dead… After unpacking i waited for my iPad get warmer because it was so cold. I plugged the charger and it turn on with 1% battery it start charging. I only activate the iPad and connected with Apple account and suddenly ipad stop charging and turn off.. From this it cant turn on and wont charging . Recovery mode dont work
Mine came with 80%+ charge the first minute I checked.
There is no way for a first batch from factory to have already dropped to 1% under any circumstance, this should have taken weeks or even months. Definitely faulty unit you have there mate.
Can you please run Jazz Disk Bench and share your results? We’re trying to determine if the slow write speed experienced by one of the members here was an isolated incident or if it occurs with every 512GB version. Thanks!
This is my ipad pro 13 512GB, arrived yesterday.
Same with my 1TB model running on 26.1 Beta 4. How reliable is the benchmark software?

It seems like the 1TB model is getting stiffed with the Write speeds.
It should not be the case that lower tier models have sufficient Read & Write speeds.

Apple definitely needs to answer why higher storage models are getting worse speeds then lower storage.
Thanks for this result. I suppose 512GB is the ideal storage size to get, and I’ll avoid the 1TB version for now.

Another tool you can try is Antutu Benchmark. Run their disk speed test only and see what you get.
