thanks teh_hunterer. half the speed of the larger models. speeds are very similar to the new 256gb modules in the iPhone air (which are 2x faster than the ones found in the 256 pro)

could someone on a 512gb test pls :)

I got a test of the 512 from a youtuber: READ: 5069 MB/s, WRITE: 1815 MB/S.

Received few units. Looks solid. However some units (screen) make a click/pop noise when pressed in the bottom right corner area when in portrait mode. And the bottom right edge makes a sticky noise.

Check yourself.

Black Friday is just around the corner, for those in US, why can't you wait a month for a discounted M5? i'm sure Best Buy and other big box stores will have at least $100 off for these.
Micro Center has $100 off 11” models and $130 off 13” models.

my local Micro Center has $200 off on the M4 Pro models, tempting. or i can just buy from Costco now and with their 90 day return policy i can always return it and get a discounted one during BF sale.

Just got mine today. An iPhone 15PM + iPad Air trade in later, an 11in 256gb cellular for a shade over 500. What's been apparent so far is the fluidity of the screen and the sound quality. Promising stuff from a former Air owner. Will give it a road test running Lightroom with DNG + CR2 raw files soon.

Honestly, unless you're doing large transfers to/from an equally fast drive, the IOPS and latency are probably more important for day to day use.

It’s beauteous. Also loving the MOFT dynamic folio and the magnet strength is good. I think a lot of people must’ve tried to use the wrong model for their iPad, ie 12.9 case with a 13” m4/5 ipad or vice versa

I got mine (13 inch 256GB Silver) with cellular (Verizon) delivered today. I’m trading in my M2 pro 11 inch. I gotta say this new one is much faster and lighter! I love the big display!

Got mine today. It’s my first pro. The display is something else. Slightly underwhelmed by the speakers - seems like they still can't beat physics.

But man, is ipadOS 26 buggy on this device. I’ve been constantly running into bugs, visual glitches and lags, starting even with 2 glitches during the setup process. From drawing the pencil's line in Notes 2cm above the pencil until I "recalibrate" by using it in anoher app, to UI elements left behind when moving windows to even windows crashing. It’s far better on my old ipad air 3, but, naturally slower. otoh, slowness that works vs. bugs you have to mitigate by restarting/minimizing apps doesn't really make a difference in speed when using the UI, it's even a slightly worse UX, imho. I guess it's lack of optimization for the new GPU that causes this. Never experienced this in this magnitude with an Apple product, not even close - feels like an early beta. Hoping for software updates, but it's still kinda embarassing and not up to the standards of a supposedly release-ready OS.

(illustration of one of the - harmless - visual glitches during setup - info about usage of personal data overlaid over code input field. reflection of weird guy for scale :) )
