I'm buying the x because the design has me speechless, I really see myself enjoying the h.eck out of it. The older iPhone 8 may fullfill my needs, but it lacks that wow factor that really adds up to the overall experience.

If buying a device strictly for getting the job done, why not buy an $80 android instead if a more expensive phone?

Spend a $1000 plus just to say wow? Ok. 6 months from now there will be a new “wow” phone. Keep paying your $40 a month for the foreseeable future. That’s the “wow” part for me.

Like it. The 8 has been out a couple of weeks and it’s called the “older model”.

love my 8+. love the size ( have big hands so one handed use is no issue) love the feel, love the fact its still the biggest screen apple make, it runs smooth and super fast, the cameras great ( beyond great ) what more could I have asked for?? oh thats right a decent price tag,:-D

No wow for me this year. This week I wiped new 6S+ Fresh installed 11.02 and put new battery and this little guy runs like a champ. Will save the 1100 bucks to give to Apple for next years X or Y or Z model.

I got the iPhone 8 Plus, and I'm more than happy with it! I'll wait this 'bezelless' iPhone out and get the next one. No need to spend more than a grand for a 'beta' phone.

I partially feel that way as well. This year's iPhone is a real test for Apple, which will be successful. But next year, I like the fact that we will see two different size iPhone X models.

using 8plus right now, upgraded from 7 plus. excellent 8 plus in my opinions, love the speed and camera with great battery life compared to my 7 plus.

X for me. Don't see the 8 as much of an upgrade compared to the X. Touch ID is dead, there will be no Touch ID under the screen.

Which for some is all the more reason to get the last TouchID/home button phone, and probably hang on to it for a few years.

I don’t understand why people say that the X is a good upgrade but the 8 Plus isn’t. They have the same internals, and how many people really want FaceID (as opposed to just accepting it as necessary substitute when there’s no room for a home button), or animojis?

Not saying The X is a bad choice. The OLED display and form factor alone make it worth it for many, but in terms of specs and capabilities, the 8 Plus is just as much an upgrade.

That's fair. I have a 7 plus though which is plenty fast and takes great pictures. I am going with the X due to the higher resolution screen, OLED, TrueDepth camera, Face ID, overall smaller size, no bezels or chin, and the new gesture based UI. Those reasons, coupled with everything the 8 Plus has, make it a more attractive upgrade for me. And I stress, for me.

Yeah, performance-wise the iPhone 8 is on par with current standards, however, its design is, starting nov 3, officially from an older generation. That's what I meant. It will look older as time passes.

Honestly? Couldn't care less that the design looks 'old'. It's tried and tested, and has TouchID. FaceID is too new for me, I'll wait for others to be the guinea pigs.

Yeah, I think it has a lot to do with what phone you're coming from. Coming from a 6 myself, either choice is a big enough upgrade that I'm sure I'll be happy with either option, which actually makes it a really hard choice!

Definitely, no doubt you'll be happy either way. If you have the funds though, I'd lean towards the X for everything I mentioned. You can't go wrong though!

Just retired my 6 plus and bought an 8 plus. Got three years from the six, I'll get two or three and let the new iPhone mature a little. 8 plus is a solid design and a well rounded performer.

Yeah, money's not the issue, and I know this probably sounds silly to you, but I'm feeling really attached to the home button and Touch ID. I know that just like the headphone jack I will have to accept their loss eventually because they're not coming back, but I think I might need to see how "the future" works in the present before I'm ready to jump on board.

At the end of the day, perhaps the best argument in favour of the 8/8+ is that you know exactly what you're getting. For me, the 8+ will be a bigger, better, faster version of the phone that I've enjoyed enough that I've been using it for 3 years.

No, I totally understand. It's definitely a pretty drastic change, but I am confident that myself and others will adjust fairly quickly. I am happy to jump on new tech, but I can see why someone wouldn't want to make the leap. Everything I have seen so far has been really positive about the X.

Purchased my 8 intentionally 2 days ago... I believe there are going to be significant changes- while yes it's cool to be an early adopter on a new design- however, I feel next year I will sell my 8 and pay the difference for the following model; after the issues/fixes and possible slight redesign occurs. After hours of research and hardly 0 difference on specs other than screen oled/size and the above... to many - over +.

‘The older iPhone 8’? You make it sound as if it’s 5 years old (don’t come back at me with the, ‘the design is 4 years old!’ claptrap). The iPhone 8 is an amazing phone, it’s super quick and sleek. Yeah, it still has bezels, but so what? Personally I prefer a timeless, tried-and-tested design. You can be the tester for the X, and I’ll wait until it’s refined (as it inevitably will be) and buy one in a couple of years’ time. ;):p
I'm not a fan of the 6/6s/7/8 design but yeah, I'm not overly fond of design changes for the sake of change. Back when I was building my own computers, once I find a chassis I like, I just keep using it.

That said, Jet Black iPhone 7 is probably my favorite iteration of that particular design (at least before it gets riddled with micro scratches). Greatly dislike the antenna lines.
