I like the feel of a REAL keyboard, not this razorthin tinkertoy (fire away!!) :)

*claps* ;)

I thought it was a cool design...but as soon as I got it, I sold it on eBay. For people who are on their computers for a long time or who do a lot of writing, you gotta go with an ergonomic keyboard. I love my MS Natural 4000 Keyboard too much to give it up.

Battery life is inconsequential...

I've been using mine for over two months--no indication of low battery (they only use three (3) AA... nothing fancy.

However, I get my batteries from www.ReBatt.com, where i purchase them for $17.95 for 100 AA. That's right, 100.

Go to the website, print out their order form, and fax your order to the number listed on the site and the form. All size batteries, well worth the money.

I'm a broad shouldered guy and the Aluminum keyboard just doesn't fit me for long stints at the compy. Personally, I prefer the Natural Ergonomic Keyboard branded by Microsoft. I have two (one connected to my MP-2008 at work and the other for connecting to my MBP at home) and they both significantly alleviated the back and shoulder pains that resulted from using the Mac Aluminum keyboard.

i'd like it a whole lot more if it had the num pad
other then that its fine. battery is at 68% after 2 months of never turning it off

Maybe a stupid question- but if I'm using an external display with my MB, do I have to use a wireless keyboard if MB is asleep?

i don't quite get your question. but, if you're using an external keyboard with your macbook, it shouldn't matter whether it's wired or wireless. also, if your macbook is connected to an external display and the main display is asleep, you can still use your macbook's keyboard (no external necessary) as long as you're not operating with the lid closed (which requires an external keyboard).

You answered my question. I'm planning on getting an external display and operating with my MB lid closed. I didn't realize one can plug the keyboard into the display... makes sense.

I love it. So much better than the white plastic one. And it's nice now that my Mac Pro and MacBook have a similar feel now. I used to hate jumping back and forth between the two styles. I only wish they had made the BT one a number pad. Oh well.

I bought an Apple wireless keyboard on Monday to use with my BlackBook. I also have a Mighty Mouse to use with it. The keyboard is identical to the one built in to the MacBook so I don't mind using it all and it makes it seem more like a desktop this way. I just won't use it with my Mac Pro pr iMac since it doesn't have a numeric keypad.

It looks cool and feels nice, but I wish I opted for the wired one. Reasons:

1. You have to replace the batteries
2. No number pad
3. Its small for big hands
4. Dropped BT connections -- only sometimes
5. You have to replace the batteries.

I have the apple wireless keyboard and mouse, and the keyboard is great. It types very well. I highly recommend it.

I'm forced to use a HP laptop at work and I wonder if I can use a thin apple-keyboard with that? It has built in bluetooth, so I should be able to use the wireless variant, right?

Have anyone tried?

I think you can. I have my bt keyboard and mouse linked to my vista partition, and they work. What you might have to do though, is before it is scanning, turn the device off, and then click scan, and then when it is scanning, turn the bt device on. Because sometimes it doesn't find the signal, but that fixed it.

After spending just a couple of days on the aluminum keyboard, the older Apple USB keyboards feel like complete mush to me now. I can really fly on this keyboard now because I don't have to think about mashing down the keys so hard: just a fairly light tap on a key and move on to the next one.

And I grew up on the old scissor-action Apple Extended Keyboards myself. Loved those beasts to death. Even bought a USB to ADB adapter and used the old keyboard from my IIci on my PowerMac G4 for a while.

The aluminum wireless keyboard is a beautiful piece of kit. However, the lack of a numeric keypad is a dealbreaker for me. I do enough spreadsheets to really appreciate the numpad and my "10-key" skills are pretty sharp.

It's awesome...... except for the fact that now when i use "normal" PC keyboards, I type really slow because i don"t press down the key hard enough. It's really not much of a problem though because i don't use different computers often.

I know the op prob doesnt read this thread anymore b ut I thought Id chime in :)

The wireless keyboard is great for casual use. its small and efficient and its great for traveling and wanting an extra keyboard. Its also great if you have a wacom tablet on your desk, then its small and can be shoved somewhere where you can use it when you need it.

However for coding and stuff where I am using the keyboard A LOT I dont like it as much, I prefer my DiNovo Edge (awesome keyboard.) I like flat keys but the apple keyboard I think is too lightweight and doesnt stay put (Im a heavy typer). The number pad I miss but I have a wireless number pad so not a huge loss to me.

My Mac Pro came with one of the thin new keyboards and a mighty mouse which were both so bad that I threw them out after two days and replaced them with my older Apple keyboard and a MS optical mouse.

I have the wired one and it works great. It fits nicely on my limited desk space alongside my tablet and is much better than the clunky old plastic one.

However, I mainly use it just for keystrokes while drawing on a Wacom. I don't do any heavy typing.

I wish they could figure out a way to make the keyboard the same size as the wired version.

I love the wireless one because I have 3 monitors and I can shift the keyboard to be in front of the monitor I need.

Thinking about getting one for my mac pro or my macbook pro to use on either one.. anyone here regret buying one or is it that great?

I know that the number key is missing on the side (which I dont care) but I was wondering how is battery life? I've seen people praise about the battery life being great and others saying it sucks.. just want to know, thanks.

Yes. I seriously love it. The first set of batteries lasted 6 months. It attracts a lot of (positive) attention at work, too.

I just got the wired aluminum keyboard (the big one with number pad). So far I really like it. The problem is that my old wrist rest is way too tall, as others have noted. Besides the carpeting idea, has anyone found other solutions to the problem? I've looked around but can't find any thin wrist rests. I found a cheap, large mousepad (the standard 1/4" foam covered with fabric) at Fry's that I'm thinking I could cut to size, but am looking for other ideas.

I used to be a big fan of the white keyboard. Then I got the wired aluminum keyboard. Wow. Now when I try typing on the white one I get so messed up because its so clunky in comparison. I can type significantly faster on the aluminum one. I do think that a wireless one with the keypad should be available, but you can't have everything.
