Mmm. I'm now not as sure as I was. There are many things that I like about the watch, but there are a couple of issues (or things I wish were better).

Firstly the battery life is rubbish. Does anyone know if you might be able to put it into an energy saving mode so at least drag out the battery to a couple of days? I realize this would lose functionality, but for much of the day I am unable to take calls, read emails anyway.

Secondly I really wish it were more waterproof.

I was planning on an SS model, but I might now go for the sport and see what mk2 looks like.

I think the delay is planned in some sense. Maybe not in the way I'm thinking but I believe it allows people to make the right choice.

Impulse shoppers are great. But what if they change their mind and take advantage of the return policy? It can negatively impact apples profits. If anything, this truly allows people to make the right decision rather than impulse buy return and exchange and end up costing a fortune in returns and tie up inventory and then cost money in sales.

yeah if anything, this (LONG) wait is making me sit and think about the watch more than I'd care to admit, thus making my desire and need for it that much more. It will feel extremely strange once I have it on my wrist and I am no longer agonizing with wait. I'll just be agonizing for iOS 9 next and then iPhone 6S instead =D

You can put it into power reserve mode which greatly reduces the functionality but gives you up to 72 hours of charge.

I agree with you. The lust over the Watch was crazy immediately after the keynote and I would've loved for the pre-orders to start that Friday, the 13th, and delivering on the 27th. Or at least done the keynote closer to the actual pre-order date. Don't get me wrong, I'm still gonna get one but the excitement isn't the same as it was in the few days after the keynote. Maybe that will change again on pre-order date.
